In November 2023, farmers in rural France began turning road signs upside down as a protest to draw attention to the challenges they face. The campaign started in the Tarn department and has since spread throughout the country, with signs most visible in Brittany. The farmers unscrew, flip, and then screw the signs back on. In some cases, they also add stickers with the French words “C'est le monde à l'envers,” which translates to “the world's turned upside down” or “What is the world coming to?

World over farmers, the humans who actually feed us, have the highest sucied rate linked to financial distress. In US, over 50% farmers have not made a $1 profit in past 10 years. The condition is worse in developing economies. Primarily reason is deteriorating soil conditions in our fields we till.
@VedaSay
@VedaSay 5 ай бұрын
If govt provide support to farmers to increase organic mix in their fields to 6-10%, it will sequester even most of our historic carbon emissions and will improve soil conditions in their farm thus increasing output.

I love this series for what it is -- someone who's original plan was to drive a solar-powered moped from the UK to Italy who then was smart enough and flexible enough to get there in a different, more efficient and healthy way -- by using electricity. Either way, it's a win with me! You take on challenges most people don't, so you are always interesting to watch, no matter what!

Hey Louis, maybe a tip for when the bike falls over: instead of facing the bike, try standing next to it, but with your back facing the bike. The squat and grab the handlebar with one hand, and somewhere by the seat with the other. Then stand up, pushing back towards the bike. I learned that when I got my motorcycle license, hope it helps you, too. Thanks for the entertainment. Really enjoy your vlog. Keep on trucking, buddy. Greetings, Daniel

Remember for future charging to angle the panels…you proved it increased the watts. I bought a gauge from Ecoflow that clips on the solar panel. You line the panel (shadow) up to a dot on the gauge screen. Total game changer and so easy.

I got a Yosepower 620Wh battery and wheel conversion kit and put it on my Boardman hybrid bicycle weighing about 22kg in total with the kit. In PAS mode 3 out 5 modes (so you have to pedal a bit), I can get 60 miles range in summer which works out at 10.4Wh per mile. That cruises at about 13-15mph.

When I had a Vespa Elettrica for a while, I purchased a Type2 -> Schuko converter. It was able to negotiate the charge with most car chargers. The only problem was, there was this one charger in the middle of nowhere that it got stuck in. And I had to get a janitor there to open the charger and release the adapter, except the shopping centre had outsourced janitorial services to a company that only had one person for a huge area and it took him three hours to get there :D

Looking at your driving style - I actually think it is much safer for you to drive in the middle of the lane, rather than on the very edge in the gutter. Even if you're driving slow, the car drivers are supposed to overtake you at a safe distance, but when you're driving on the edge of the road they do attempt to squeeze past you even in places where they can't see far enough ahead or have oncoming traffic. You also risk punctures from all the debris... Don't risk your own life, you have as much right to use the road as the car, tractor or truck drivers, bicycles or pedestrians...
@Gostdemonoid

I'm PRETTE SUR that's not legal. If it's not not legal, OBVEOUSLE unsaf
@jannovotny6244
@jannovotny6244 5 ай бұрын
@Gostdemonoid exactly why would that not be legal? If you drive a "slow vehicle" you may be required to keep on the right side of the right lane, but that still means inside the white lines and by some margin. But by no means are you required to keep in the gutter, and the safe distance ALWAYS takes a precedence, so if the driver can't pass safely, then they need to wait, not blame it on "him being too slow"...
@jannepeltonen2036
@jannepeltonen2036 5 ай бұрын
@@jannovotny6244 In Europe, for a certain class of vehicles including bicycles and mopeds (and scooters that are classified as mopeds), the place on the road is by the side. So yeah, it is not legal.
@jannovotny6244
@jannovotny6244 5 ай бұрын
@@jannepeltonen2036 it is on the side, but still on the road, not outside the white lines, driving through garbage and broken glass. AFAIK this is not even classed as a moped, so there is no legal requirement either. And personal safety when asshats try to squeeze past you is always well justified - drivers are required to pass safely, usually with at least 1.5m distance. So if they have oncoming traffic they can't legally overtake you. Therefore, being in the middle of the lane changes nothing for the driver, but makes the moped hell of a lot safer.
@richardbrice6535
@richardbrice6535 5 ай бұрын
Minimum speed is half that of max. The problem with country lanes is that most are set at the national speed limit. If you're in limp mode, then you should have your hazard warning lights on. No part of any vehicle should overhang the lane it's in.

Honestly the switch to charging it up as you can makes it more of an interesting series to me haha you get the tension of where to charge without annoying people, or having French cafe owners shocked that you don't eat all their essentials 😂 plus you're making way more distence each day which means the lanscape is changing faster too! If you hadn't done that, we'd still be hearing you talk about clouds that weren't in the forecast, and then driving 20 miles in the dark 😆

I've built my own e-bike, with a 500W motor and a 1kWh battery, I'm getting about 10Wh/km on full "support", about 15Wh/km pulling a 30kg trailer, and I imagine it could go as low as 5Wh/km on the lowest assist setting. FYI - you can buy a Type-2 to Schuko (EU plug) adapter, then just charge at regular EV chargers ;) The only hickup could be, that the bike pulls very little power, so the dispenser might consider it as "car is fully charged" and cut you off, some are also sensitive to uneven draw from 1 phase (Type-2 is 3-phase, but the adapter is single phase) - but that only tends to be a problem above 2kW draw. From my experience the methodology differs from provider to provider, so it takes trial and error...
