I drove a red 944S2 for a decade. But I always dreamed of a 928S4. Your barnfind is just the spec I was interested in. What held me back were the maintenance cost of the engine. But you have the Car Wizzard to help you there. That makes all the difference. Enjoy it!

Bob, I've been a Porscheholic for over 50 years. I've owned several and still own one at 72 years old. I told my wife, when I die, no casket, just my Porsche for my final resting place. We have a HUGE Family farm and I can pick my place of interment. LOL... She don't think it's too funny~~~~...

Sweet find. Chances are the LH computer is bad. Once you get the tank cleaned and fresh gas (couldn't believe you tried starting it with old gas) in it, if she spins but doesn't start, you prob have a bad LH. Check Relay XX to see if it's good. If yes, pull the out hose on the fuel filter and try starting. If no fuel, the LH is bad and needs resoldering. Guy in AZ does them along with MAFs and they're good as new. The LHs all fail on the S4s.

You can jump start a 928 from the front, the positive port is near the right headlight/ coil area under a plastic screw metal nipple.

Funny you said that. Same thing I thought. Actually Motorweek did a comparison test of a 1983 928s and Z28 at Summit raceway and the Camaro actually had better times.

@jasonknight5863Ай бұрын
Like Bob said any 928 the maintenance isn’t a lot. It’s a relatively straightforward car. What’s going on now with this car is it needs new distributor, new set of leads, rotor and new spark plugs. And for good measure a new fuel filter and it will start right up. Like mine did. But if you leave these cars sit for longer than 2 years which this one has from the looks of it. It will need new discs and brake calipers as they cease to work easily, if not regularly driven. Also buy on condition of the interior. As when it’s rough it’s very costly to make it good again. And of course a paint job is expensive on these cars to disassemble and assemble again. As all 928’s are way over built. They are like G-Wagons. When new 928’s were as expensive as a 911 Turbo. Let that sink in. So great value for money! Compared to what a 911 Turbo of a similar year is worth now. Transmission are 👍🏼 great!
