I love how you said to take a break from art for however long you need. I struggle from getting too focused on something and doing it everyday which eventually leads to me burning out really fast and not going back to it for a very long time. I noticed that I work better when I take breaks from art for a day or two then jump back in, but almost every video out there says to practice art everyday so I would do exactly that. When you said you take breaks it made me realize that there are other artists out there who don't draw everyday and are still amazing at art! :)

Loved that full page crow illustration! It's so stunning. I love traditional/reworkable gouache - for much the same reasons as you.

Thank you so much! traditional gouache is the besttt haha

I remembered when you converted over to just drawing animals and you were like I know this isn't very popular but this is what I like to draw. Good for you. I love watching your colorful art

Thank you for taking the effort to find out who took the photograph reference! Photographers are often overlooked despite the fact that many of us draftsmen use photo reference almost daily. In this age, proper artist credit is more important than ever, and I love to see more and more artists taking the time to credit each other properly for reference, inspiration etc, so we can all discover each other and learn from each other : )

Jackdaw appreciation! They're so incredibly common here (in the Netherlands), but I rarely see them mentioned. Whenever I see an actual crow I'm startled by how big they are in comparison to their jackdaw cousins

don't you think 'Jackdaw' sounds so much cooler than 'Kauw'? We got the short end of the stick

I use your videos as my rest (away from writing music). Seeing you create is a pleasure and a motivation. I'm in a going out phase. Museums, parks and concerts, it does help alot. Thanks for all that you share, your art is amazing!

We have tons of jackdaws in Sweden, sometimes there are hundreds sitting one roof and they all fly at the same time making big parts of the sky turn black with some just parts of the sky coming through, a bit scary but also cool.

The talens art creation sketchbooks are so fun! I was also surprised how well it dealt with watercolors, I finished one of these sketchbooks few years back and I’m excited to use it again someday :D Loved all the art in this video!

Your art style mega inspires me every time :) I recently got a smart idea to buy cute chopstick rests from ebay to rest my paint brush on if it is dirty or loaded with paint and I need to put it down for whatever reason and because they are porcelain they both act as decorations, mascots, and potential paper weights if I ever need it haha! I've been working really hard on studying color theory and the longer I work on it the more I fall in love with your use of color. Thank you for being such an inspiration :) If you are on the scout for animals the patagonian mara might be fun, or the secretary bird, or golden pheasant, or diamondback terrapin interpreted into your color scheme. Have a great week :)

I've been in a major art slump recently, so this was a wonderful, inspiring video! I personally l really enjoy working with gouache, and I have a very different process from watercolors for it because I really love when it is a maximum opacity. Anyway, I use jelly gouache so I never need to rewet.

To add on to the advice of doing something productive art related but not the actual art. Organize supplies Declutter supplies Look at unfinished projects decide if you want to finish them Clean your craft area or bag or box whatever Find a new inspiration if u ususally draw people try plants Plan a project and set it up as a kit i like to sew i have a few ideas for blankets so i would gather any fabric i would need from what i have and write down what i need to finish it

Glad to hear you're enjoying this sketchbook! I also use the same one currently (it's under a different brand, but they are the same as art creation ones). About the width of the book - I also find it inconvenient that they are a bit narrower than the proper A5 size! And I wasn't able to find any other brands that offer the real A5 sized books, until a local brand released a new line of sketchbooks that actually features it! The paper quality should be the same as in the art creation books. I ordered one already, very excited to try it out! P.S.: the crow (jackdaw) drawing turned out lovely, the way you draw distinct yet cohesive and colorful shapes is so nice to look at 🌱

So do you think you could make a video on tips n how to use gouache for beginners? I recently got the himi gouache but I’m desperate because I feel I haven’t used them as they should since I’m more used to watercolor. Also it’d be great to know how you draw animals! Love your art btw 🫶🫶

If you're looking for a square sketchbook with paper that can take a beating i would recommend the Ohuhu mixed media sketchbook (not to be confused with their market sketchbook). It has heavy 200gsm paper, a lot of pages, and comes in a square format. It comes in either the spiral or bound form.
