Prebuilt, my guy, i'm not here for a how to on different weapons. I'm here because you're a really good content creator. Your challenges interest me, the goals of your playthroughs interest me. Unless the weapon goes into either of those, then i could absolutely care less if you use a sledge or a club.

I watched a series by Guns, Nerds and Steel, Undead legacy, in which he found a legendary sword which he used the entire series (weapons are upgradable in UL), and by episode 30 I did get to the point that some small part off me was screaming "shoot it with a shotgun." It is one of my fav vid series. One of the things I love about this game is immense variety . . . the vast number of POI's, environments, topography, and weapons, and I try and use all the different weapons to some extent to the point that my inventory is stuffed with weapons and ammo. The artist needs different tool to create his/her scene of dismembered z's, and the weapons are his/her palette, just as the artist uses a palette of colors . . . . wait, that seems kind of sick. Ya . . . I'd better stop writing now . . . 😉

I've seen people complain about bullet sponges in games before, but 14 bonks on the head just seems excessive. I suspect we'll be more thankful than ever for your editing on this particular series.

I've been doing a 2 man run of snow biome recently, basically the same settings as you, except horde night every 3 days because it's way more interesting to me. Some things to note: Horde nights are still pretty do-able in a base, you just need a good setup, a LOT of explosives, and a lot of repairing. Though I did have a cement mixer by day 6 and was using concrete to reinforce the front. It's best to setup at least 2 different areas to hold down instead of just one spot as you are likely to lose the first one if you slack on repairs a little too long. Demos on day 9 btw, only took 3 horde nights. Generally avoid infested clears if you can, they will boost your game stage to absurd levels and spawn radiated zombies very early, especially radiated cops which will ONE SHOT YOU. Lost a playthrough on day 3 because of that haha. I'm a major sledgehammer enthusiast, I can't let go of the triple headshot guaranteed kill in the early game, and guaranteed kill in the mid game, even a level 4 iron sledge with 4 points in sledgehammers will almost always insta-kill normal zombies. The knockdown and stagger are not to be underestimated, especially for horde night, as you can also do AOE staggers much like the repulsion mod with the stun baton, they just don't go flying. Feels pretty good seeing a scary feral run up to you and you just pop his head like he was nothing. The stamina consumption, while a very real problem, can actually be played around relatively easily. You'll definitely have to adjust yourself and try to go into fights with more stamina to start. This is less important when you get level 3 and especially level 4 sledgehammer perk, stamina regain on kill is very good for chain killing, and the sledge will always be the fastest at doing so. It's funny because every time I try using club in the early game and mid game I find myself complaining about clubs in a similar way you do the sledgehammer, so it's probably just down to personal preference on playstyle, I honestly think they're almost equally powerful. I say almost because sledgehammers got shafted and are the only melee weapons that don't have any books related to it, so in the later game club can be a bit better because you can endlessly spam right clicks and get ALL of your stamina back, something the sledge doesn't have the privilege of. Though I should point out that isn't that big of a deal because at that point you should be generally shooting your way through POIs instead of only using melee.

played a wasteland only world with some friends, turns out you can get demos on the first hoard and turns out 150 blocks of cobblestone was nowhere near enough for radiated zombies

I like the guaranteed snakes on the corner of road junctions (where there's a couple of hay bales and a pile of rubble) which are perfect to get the bit of leather you need for a forge. Especially when they go down to a stealthed arrow (well, they do on the easy peasy settings I play on, I guess they might not on your super duper hard settings).

I'm guessing you noticed but there is a coc chemical with a fair bit of oil shale. if you max out mother lode to maximize it, it'll be a good help on gas plus don't forget about wrenching cars.. The snow biome can be challenging though points into well insulated would help the food situation and more importantly the stamina regen could be a bigger issue with the sledge when you're freezing. Looking forward to seeing how this goes. Can always turn the xp gain up to 300% if you want better loot and a good challenging, short series

Ahhh~ Was hoping Permafrost would be the next series~ Nice to see it return! I don't typically like the snow biome myself too much due to how foggy it gets often. Case in point being my current save being primarily just Pine forest and Desert only. But I may just try an all snow biome just for the challenge soon~ At least the trees in that biome are, for me anyway, the nicest looking in game. XD

Knives are actually really good, if you want to try something different- they have a decent chance to instakill by chopping heads off, and they do a lot of damage for using so little stamina.

I haven't use a sledgehammer in a couple of years. It seems to be the most likely weapon in the game to let you down when you need it the most. The zapper stick is a close second. You know what I mean? You get those times when you have to hit a single zombie 10 times to kill it.

sledges alongside some other weapons did get a raw damage buff since the last time you used them, maybe you'll change your mind a little once you get to the higher tier sledges i wasnt the most fondest of them at the start of a21 but around a21.1 or 21.2 the buff for damage made them worth using for me.

I love building horde bases but I can see the apparent issues with it. The Zombie AI is far too easy to exploit. These issues started in alpha 17 and have only gotten worse. My first horde base is always just a 25x25 box where I then relegate to be my crafting base after the first horde night. After that I typically love to build blender type bases. The problem with that type of base though is that blade traps no longer trigger demolishers which was a big mistake on the funpimp's part I feel. It took blade traps from decent to being completely broken. The simple solution to avoiding demolishers to to simply get better at base design and know your timings on when you should have your blade trap on. Demolishers are why AP ammo was put in the game 😓. With these types of horde bases it's incredibly easy to turn horde night into just a plain EXP farm night instead where you can constantly log out to force another horde to come.

So how come spears suck? i like them because the books let your attacks pierce zombies and refill your stamina on every kill. plus i find it easier to hit specific zombies, swinging weapons seem to hit objects besides the target. only issue i have is that perception doesn't have many other good perks.
