I'm surprised you took the wood for ore trade as it did nothing for you. In fact it totally probably cost you. If you don't make that trade you could have taken that road for sheep trade and settled on the 3/11.

Dylan whats costing you games is over-explaining your analysis live. You spend at least 25% of your turn time just explaining things and end up making poor choices. Make the play, then explain after the play what youve done as a summary.

I hate the fact that people turn toxic or point out “oh this guys really good we gotta screw him”, anytime I play it’s a fresh board, and just look at things objectively and I think everyone has a better time lol. Just started watching let’s see how it goes!

This is a classic game where beginning placement matters. In Dylan's initial assessment, red shouldn't have placed where they did, but what can you do.

Well, Dylan could have had the mindset of beeing the better player. If he has that mindset he doesn't need to do greedy plays to win. He just has to do the best plays. Not getting the first settle on the best spot but on the second best in anticipation to get to the best place is a greedy play that's only going to work if you can predict your opponent. If he just does the best spot and even if the opponents magically do the predicted placements he is still better than them, so why should he worry.

I'm surprised you didn't plow both black and blue at the 7:30 mark by building roads up to the 9-10 from the 4-8. Sure you can't settle but that 2:1 wheat port isn't doing anything for you and it basically guarantees you keep road for the whole game. It's a good use of your most common resources.

I'm bewildered that with your setup you left longest road to black who didn't even produce brick. Those 2 points should have been your 1st priority. How can you pass on road being on paired 8s brick/wood ? you really threw this one away. I envisioned an endgame where you and blue would fight for the win... certainly not black who was cut off from army already and should not have gotten road ever

IMO, create a new account. Tank your win rate by losing the first 20 games. Then start the season from there.

Wow, red's second settle makes no sense whatsoever to me. totally locked in and only producing on 5 tiles, with 2 of them being a 12 and a 3. Can't build to anything, every rob on him is super painful. Did he just do it to spite you? Or just because he thought you were famous?

The only particularly bad part about it is that the 6 ore is pretty bad for him to have blocked since it accounts for most of his production. Regardless, I see no better spot and see 6/3/12 as the obviously best spot for him.

Blacks 2nd pick is 4-6-2 for his OWS then just gets knights to keep off ore, and Reds 2nd goes 4-9-11 for the same thing OWS (its meta for a reason) the only reason i think red took that was cuz of Dylan 100% doesn't make sense for his game at all, he just didn't want Dylan to have the expansion spot(This whole game shows why he needs to change accounts, colonist need to give you coins so you can often as you are the biggest colonist youtuber TBH). I idk why black took his spot other then production and 3;1 port cuz now he has to 3:1 his wood for sheep instead of just getting on the best sheep in this game especially when that's all he needed for a beast OWS setup. Blue I DONT EVEN KNOW what they are thinking tbh there pass up like 2 different spots that are 100X better idk about this game man. This is perfect example why he keeps changing name, makes 100% sense, the only reason they where able to make these settles work is because they ganged up on the person in last because its Dylan, not kool. Dylan did make some critical mistakes here and he def had a great chance at winning but the table screwed him over. This is a frustrating game to watch and this is why he changes his name, and again COLONIST give the man enough coins to change his name like once a week or something cuz 1300 coins for name change for someone who makes top notch content for your platform should be a no brainer decision.

Went to a qualifier today and got 17th...only top 16 advanced. Not a fan of how they did the scoring to determine semifinalists. Wins, then VPs. Sounds okay in theory, but there were multiple people who got it with fewer points than those who did not. Theoretically you could have someone with only 10 points (10-0-0 across 3 rounds, assume he won round 1 and just forfeited rounds 2 and 3 entirely) who would beat out someone with 27 points (9-9-9 across 3 rounds) because the 1 win carries more weight than all those points. They should just go by points; in doing wins, you effectively doubly-reward the winners because they're getting both max points (10) and a "win" that trumps those points. In no world should someone who got 27 points not advance versus someone with 10 points.

No offense intended at all by this, but I feel like Dylan has become a much worse Catan player over the past few months simply because he OVERTHINKS and winds up making foolish choices because of it. I think there's something to allowing your brain to simply flow, and go "with your gut" sometimes. With how much knowledge Dylan has, I feel like he'd be Godtier if he learned to think less, and simply trust all the skills that are already ingrained into his mind.

Yeah I guess I worded it wrong. He's a pretty good player but he was never at a top 10 level. Colonist rankings can be very misleading cause many top players either don't play on there or don't play every season. I think I have over 5000 online games played and probably not at his level so not saying I am better than he is, but if someone like me who is a very good amateur can spot obvious high level mistakes, I can only imagine what pros see. That's why when he gets coached in his videos he gets feedback on essentially every instinct of his. The content is fun and he's done a good job of growing his brand, but I would be really surprised if he was even top 200 in the world at this game skill wise

13:30.. The 5 and 9's have the exact same probability, Black has a city on both hexes, Blue has a settlement on both hexes.. The ONLY difference is you being on that 5 wheat.. Without literally any reasoning you could possibly give, it only hurts your credibility saying to place on the 9 wheat- joking or not imo

@@gozz2118 sure, when a player makes a mistake in a 4-player game, the three other players are getting an advantage. Dylan was one of the three players, and also was next to move after Blue's mistake, and so in the best position to exploit this mistake. Assuming that Blue's mistake was so great that nullified their own chances of winning, Dylan's chances of winning increased from 25% to 33%. And instead of being happy about it, he reacted with the usual whining. Typical table-talk behavior, effective when targeting the opponents, and totally ineffective when targeting the viewers.

@@JohnSmithEx you’re assuming it benefits everyone equally which is not the case as the last player to select decides where the space on the board will be plus picking badly makes your predictions off and causes you to try and shift gameplans to compensate. E.g if player 4 leaves a good wheat brick wood spot up for grabs but I already have wood and wheat with no chance for 2:1 ports and player 2 has good ore sheep then I may be forced to ruin my game a little to take away that spot or just let player 2 have it
