People massivey underskill DDP. Dude won 30/33 (amateur) kickboxing matches by KO, submitted all 5 Gracie Barra guys in a jiu jitsu event, most significant strikes landed per minute of ALL middleweights ever in UFC, and so far has the 6th longest win streak in middle weight history. He’s only been in the UFC for 4 years and already has the 6th longest win streak. Out of 21 wins in pro MMA, only 2 were by decision, 9 by KO 10 by submission. He’s quite well rounded, something that Izzy never has been Even if he loses to Adesanya, as long as it doesn’t mess with his mentality or chin, this dude’s gonna be at the top for years.

Dricus won't fight as cautiously defensive as the vast majority of Izzy's opponents have since he was given this "boring" label. Idk if he'll win, but this is his best chance at an entertaining fight
@divardo14082 ай бұрын
I mean the boring label is such a big narrative because so many people hate Izzy. His last 3 fights have all been super exciting and at least 6 of his total title fights have been super entertaining, and he was knocking everyone out before he was champion. Really his only boring fights were Vettori, Romero, and Cannonier. But when you’re as polarizing as izzy, you can’t lose or have a slow fight without everyone hopping off the bandwagon and hating on you.
@Ghostface2point02 ай бұрын
@@divardo1408 the frustration for me with the boring label was it was like everyone forgot that he's mainly a counter fighter. DDP presents an interesting challenge for Izzy. This can go so many ways and thats what makes this fight very interesting. DDP has a method to his perceived 'wild' style, and if anything else his record thus far shows that he is able to execute game plans more or less flawlessly. Izzy, on the other hand is well known disciplined striker, a very slippery excellent counter puncher. These attributes should theoretically be perfect to put DDP away BUT, DDP's versatility and execution could be just want he needs to throw off Izzy's game plan. I'll be tuning in for sure.

You need one punch night night power to beat DDP. He does leave himself vulnerable at times but he’s so damn relentless as a skilled kickboxer and such a threat grappling that you won’t touch him up to a points win. Even a style as awkward as Strickland couldn’t do it. Izzy could pull this off but my god it’ll have to be an undeniably great performance on the feet. Ppl keep saying Izzy isn’t easy to be taken down and held… wanna bet? Izzy hasn’t fought anyone he hasn’t pieced apart that was also a grappler. DDP will be fresh and actually threaten on the feet to have the legs to use his grappling. And his weight and strength are a problem getting up: not to mention his clinical ground game keeping on edge at all times. Ironically the technical nature of Izzy is going to be much more a threat to DDP than it was to Sean. I think DDP is too suffocating though . But Izzy has a very clear path to win . Watching the till fight , the body kicks are open all day if Izzy shows him something up top before hand . When ppl do that DDP clutch’s that high gaurd for his life like something big is coming . The leg kicks are open all day especially in orthodox because he leans heavy on it and is squatted on it a little bit so that’s why he moves goofy sometimes or even looks like he’s tripping over himself . And the feints will get him over reacting as well . And pushing him forward with caution of him blitzing back will have him guarding too and will let fighters let combos off on him . Twos as well down the middle while he throws those weird legs kicks will get him . Tills downfall was his grappling and being Square at time letting ddp blast him so if Izzy can keep it on the feet with cutting angels and keeping his hands up he has a chance to win as well . Till gave good tips on twitter and all those things were there with Sean but he fight only one way and only moves forwards and backwards .

Some people will discredit Adesanya for a fight like the Vettori one and say that if Vettori can get your back then your fucked vs Dricus or whoever else. And I think it makes sense to have that thought in mind, but I feel like typically when an elite fighter is working back to their feet with no regard for their back being taken it’s because of who they’re going against. A lot of guys at 170 are going to give Usman and Colby their back before they give it to Burns. In the same way you see the best of a fighter vs lesser competition you can also see them play down to lesser competition, ex. Anderson Silva.
