What a profound response. Thank you Parker for your dedication to sharing excellent content, and thank you Jared Halverson for your testimony and experiences that really lift the fog of misunderstanding. I have family members that have left the church and fortunately have found Christ as Evangelicals. There are so many wonderful people in so many different religions and I thank God that there are. I just wish that someday rather than receiving just a portion they could choose to receive the whole feast in the restored gospel.

I believe there isn’t a single person in the church who hasn’t had family members or friends leave for one reason or another. To me, it’s all about covenants; covenant connection to Heavenly Father which gives us greater access to the Atonement of Jesus Christ as we allow the Holy Ghost to sanctify us through those covenants. People lose those blessings when they step away and choose not to come back into convenant relationship with God.

@@Azriel640 Why is it only possible for someone within the LDS church to have that depth of relationship you describe as "Covenants". And, please tell me why the pluralization of the word "Covenant(s)" when it's only used in the singular form in the Bible?

That's remarkable that they stayed within a Christian faith. All friends and family I've known that has left the church are athiest or agnostic. Some are very anti Christian as well. So its interesting that those you know went evangelical and stayed with Christ.

Staying within the Christian faith is certainly not the norm. Other members are still friendly to the church but have chosen to follow their own path. I was inactive for 13 years but returned because of a spiritual witness I received years before. I found the reason I became inactive was because other things became more important and I was not actively "nourishing the seed".

I keep thinking lately about how God wants to give us all the glory we can hold. He wants us to be happy with whatever law we can obey and are comfortable with. He doesn’t want to force anything on any of his children. He wants us to choose where we will be happy.

I really get worked up and worried about people leaving the church. Especially, family members and a wife I love dearly. I just know it’s the best and surest place to be. I guess I need to lighten up and know Heavenly Father and the Savior know their sheep and will work to help those who have chosen other paths.

It is heartbreaking because they are rejecting the fullness of the Gospel. However, the restoration is beautiful in the hope it gives for the next life and the Kingdoms in Heaven. Coming from an Evangelical background, what we have has more hope when people walk away then what I was raised believing was true. In that faith, you really have no faith when someone walks away. Their eternity is going to be spent living forever in Hell and their idea of Hell is horrifying. Hopefully thus perspective helps.

@@dcarts5616 Why would we want to be on the offensive? What point is there in contentiousness? I believe Jared Halverson truly demonstrated Christ-like love, the way the Savior would have us all do, while still bearing testimony to the truthfulness of the ongoing restoration. That is covenant Christianity which Jared is demonstrating, not merely cultural Christianity which only seeks to "be right". Cultural Christianity is akin to the very same culture in which Pharisees and Sadducees sought only to "be right" and would continually strive and contend on the offensive. That is quite literally the way they treated the Savior of the world. Constantly seeking to be on offense. Well, they did their best to offend Him, but He loved them anyway, and actually chose to suffer and die for them in Gethsemane and on the cross despite their offensive attitudes and behaviors towards them. I pray you'll see Jared Halverson as the kind of peacemaker our beloved Prophet has asked us all to be. Take care now. May God bless you as you seek to understand other people's hearts and minds.

That divine truth is accessible to all. I love my brothers and sisters around the world regardless of ethnic, culture, political, or religious background. I honestly think that the divide was deeply rooted in pride for many generations because people were unwilling to see others as God sees us. It's not like Hello Saints gets a commission from the LDS Church when he gains a new subscriber or someone who gets baptized. The point is that ya I guess he is targeting you, but not for any nefarious purpose. Just like Pastor Jeff is targeting LDS people who maybe feel estranged/exhausted/whatever from the LDS Church but still want a connection to Christ. Or just like Christ may be targeting you to follow Him better. I don't think there is any ill intention to be found

The reason God told Joseph Smith that all the religious creeds are an abomination in His sight during the first vision, and the reason the Book of Mormon teaches that there are only two churches, the Church of the Lamb of God and the Church of the Devil, is because all churches, except for the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints teach that marriage cannot be forever. We were single and separate as spirit sons and daughters of God, and if we adhere to the beliefs of all other religions we will be single and separate as immortals, this giving Satan a hugh victory over the spirit sons and daughters of God, and causing them to waste their mortal life. We were pretty amazing as only spirits. We could sing, shout for joy, recognize Abraham, and Lazarus, as the rich man did, while the rich man was tormented, and Lazarus comforted in Abraham's boosom, we can repent of many sins as a spirit, we can love, hate, forgive. Christ created heaven and earth as a spirit. Jeremiah was ordained and sanctified as a spirit. The only things we cannot do as a spirit is eat, drink, and copulalte. This is the reason we want a body, to have the relationship of mariage forever, like Adam and Eves relationship was designed to be. Any misunderstanding of the Bible teching on marriage in heaven is just that, a misunderstanding of the Bible. We know this, because we would not even want an immortal body if having a body did not give us an ability that we do not have as just a spirit. The one and only ability that having a mortal body gives us is the ability to copulalte. Romans6:9 Christ hath dominion over death, He dieth no more.

@GarySaint-xm6tr
@GarySaint-xm6tr 4 ай бұрын
@@Kaydubbbb How is it not? Christ really did say all the churches that existed at the time of the first vision are an abomination in His sight. Christ really did say there are only two churches, the church of the Devil, and the Church of the Lamb of God in the Book of Mormon. Lazarus and the Rich man.( Luke 26:19-31 KJV) We absolutely do not need a body. The Bible also teaches that everyone, regardless of beliefs or the absence thereof, will be resurrected and immortal. If you look at how increasable we are as spirits, we can do almost everything, you would ask yourself, Why do we need a body? Jeremiah was ordained and sanctified a prophet unto the nations as a spirit. ( Jeremiah 1: 5). We sang and shouted for joy when the earth was created as spirits. (Job 38: 4,7). We can repent as spirits. See (2 Peter 3: 18-20, and 4:6). Christ created the earth and all things as a Spirit. We fought in a war in heaven as spirits. We can dance, song, praise God, love, hate. Forgive, as spirits We can do all things as spirits, except copulalte. The purpose for mortality is to see if we can be trusted with an immortal body of flesh and bones that has sexual organs, like Adam and Eve had in the garden of Eden in the presence of God. Because of the atonement of Jesus Christ, after we are immortal even God will not be able to kill us. Why? Because He said so in( Corinthians 15). The last enemy that will be destroyed is death. We are mortal, because we are being given a chance to see if we can be trusted with an immortal body that has sexual organs that can never be changed, not even by God, and can never be killed, not even by God. There would be no point in us having an immortal body of flesh and bones, if an immortal body did not give us an ability that we do not have as spirits only. That one thing. The only thing, that we cannot do as spirits is copulalte. The purpose of life is to qualify for an eternal marriage, like the pattern of Adam and Eve in the Garden. We already know what heaven will be like, by the example in the garden of Eden. That was to never end, and because of Christ's atonement it will never end for many. All other Churches teach that marriage cannot be forever. So how is this just a Gary ism? I've written a book about this, by the way. RETURN TO THE GARDEN OF EDEN GOD WILL MAKE US IMMORTAL. In (Revelation 12 KJV) we read about a war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought and Satan and his angels fought. Satan and his angels were cast down to the earth. They are here! Every time you read of a person being possessed by one or more devils, they are being possessed by one or more of those angels who were kicked out of heaven. In Luke we read about the man in the tombs. When Jesus asked the name of the devils possessing the man, they said Legion. They asked to possess the bodies of pigs, rather than being cast out into the abyss. Do they hate us, because we have a body and they will never have one? Yes!!!!!!! Are they jealous of us because we have a body and they can never have one? Yes!!!!! Are they at war with us, because we have a body and they can never have one? Yes!!!!!!! We have a body, because we are the 2 thirds of the angels , stars, sons of God that kicked them out of heaven!!!!!!!! We were single and separate as spirits, which is a church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints teaching, and if we adhere to the teachings of other churches, we will be single and separate as immortals, which is a waste of our mortal life. There will be no real advantage to having a body, if we can do nothing more with it than we can do as spirits. Romans 6: 9 states: " Christ hath dominion over death, he dieth no more." Christ was not castrated when He was resurrected. Christ created heaven and earth as a spirit,why would He even want a body? Not having a body is obviously a punishment for the devils. God the Father of Jesus Christ s body, does not suffer the punishment of the devils to not have a body. Christ appeared in the middle of a closed room with His body of flesh and bones. If it had not been for the fall of Adam, we would have been born immortal, and no laws could be written, because no laws could be enforced. No bullet, or bolder, or jail, or prison, could hold anyone. We would be unteachable!!!!!!!! Adam fell, that man might be, and man is that he might have joy. That is what the Book of Mormon teaches, and it is true!!!!! You stepped into a ring way out of your weight class when you said that is a Gary ism. Humble yourself, and learn from me, because I learned from Joseph Smith, who learned from Christ. I just destroyed all of the main teachings of evangelicalism by what Christ taught Joseph Smith.

@@GarySaint-xm6tr Did Jesus really say that or is that what Joseph Smith said that he said? That kind of superiority complex is hardly new or unique in history. To claim everyone else is an abomination is a self-serving ploy that is completely predictable. It's completely nonsensical to think that the God of the entire Universe appointed ONE little modern institution with "All" of the truth, that suggests the LDS church is now omnipotent, which unfortunately appears to be easily debunked.
@GarySaint-xm6tr
@GarySaint-xm6tr 4 ай бұрын
@@tsmithson1 I see we have some miscommunication. Neither God nor I said that there is only one church with all the truth. In fact the church teaches that most churches have truth, some a lot of truth, and some less. The doctrine that makes all other churches an abomination in the sight of God is that all churches teach that marriage cannot be eternal. This is the very reason we want a body. We absolutely do not need a body. We are very capable as spirits. Christ created heaven and earth as a Spirit. With our abilities as spirits, why would we or Christ want a body? If we were not able to do something that we cannot as a spirit, it would be pointless to have a body. The only thing that would require a mortal test that we can do with a body that we cannot do as a spirit is copulalte. This is the only advantage to having a body over only being a spirit. If a churches doctrine, however much good is in it, and there is much good in most churches, excludes the very thing we are here on earth to do, then that church defeats our purpose, and God's purpose for us. Know does it make sense?

The gospel and the Church are equally important. You can't have one without the other. Finding Jesus is great, but without priesthood keys there isn't access to the full blessings of His atoning sacrifice. Having a relationship with God and loving Him is crucial, but it doesn't replace essential ordinances and covenants that prevent us from suffering for our own sins, or from being with our families forever, or from eternal progression.

If we have to do certain ordinances and covenants to prevent us from suffering for our sin, doesn't that completely defeat the whole point of Jesus? I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died for nothing. Galatians 2:21 This right here is pretty clear that we need grace and if we rely on the law to get be with God and our eternal families, then Christ died for nothing. I think the misconception is that people will get lazy with their faith and think grace is all they need, but I see that all the time in the church. People will check the boxes but they don't tend to where their hearts are. IDKI just disagree on the dismissiveness of people leaving and feeling sad. My holy envy is that we don't rely on grace enough.

But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great." - Luke 6:46-49 "What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone." - James 2:14-17 There are many, many more Bible verses that teach the doctrine of the need for faith AS WELL AS repentance, baptism for the remission of sins, and righteousness to receive salvation. It is not works that save us. Without Jesus Christ and His Atonement, nothing we could do could save us. It is the grace of Christ that justifies us from our sins, but we ACCESS that grace and forgiveness in the way that He taught: through faith in Him, repentance from our sins, and being baptized by one in authority and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands, and enduring to the end in faith and righteousness. That is the gospel Jesus taught.

@@BookofTiffaneeStories We are justified through Christ and sanctified through our works. So yes, saved by Jesus and grace. Our works are reflections of our faith in Christ. Faith without works is dead means that if you say you are a follower of Christ and you are going around acting a fool and not actually a changed person in your works / behavior, then your faith is dead and means nothing. When we have faith we are moved into action and to work. Through our actions we are sanctified and we grow. By no means though are we saved by what we do. I think faith and works go hand in hand, but I don’t think the works part is limited to one denomination. Christ taught so much about the spirit of the law and so I believe what we are called to do is to be good people. 16 and yet because we know that a person is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we ourselves have believed in Christ Jesus. This was so that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no human being will be justified. Galatians For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Ephesians To be justified is to be made righteous and the whole arch of the bible is that we can't do that ourselves, thus it is through Christ alone we are justified. We can go back and forth with verses selected to drive home our points, but that doesn't give the full picture reading of the Bible. It's because of my understanding of how the Bible (and even the Book of Mormon) comes together as a whole that I struggle with the Church claiming to be the only way to get to God and that it's by faith and a series of works. That closes a lot of doors on good Christians outside of the church and I just don't think God and the atonement is that limited. It also means that members find themselves not believing others have a full relationship with Jesus outside of the church, which I find offensive. Anywho, I appreciate you taking the time to pull those scriptures and to share your understanding of it all!

I would witness of the truths of the gospel. And of the restoration..... that said, the only way to successfully have an interview with pastor jeff would be to control the editing so you can finally state the truth without him taking it out and attacking it.

Is that what you believe the gospel of Jesus Christ is? Testifying of your ideological and Theological views? So what if you boldly testify of cognitive ideas if it never actually creates the kind of people and the kind of relationships which constitute Heaven. This heavy handed approach only perpetuates the tribalistic problems Jesus was trying to eradicate.

@tsmithson1 I'd invite you to spend more time watching general conference talks spending back a few decades. Take some time to understand how the gospel is to be taught according to scripture and modern day prophets. I'd also invite you to truly truly ponder what the prophet Joseph Smith would say to these questions. Simple and powerful testimony would've been better.

If anyone rejects this commandment they reject the reception of the Holy Ghost they reject the spirit of prophecy they reject the process of sanctification in a nutshell they reject the intended fruits in the gospel. I don't understand how a vigilant latter-day Saint would leave such a beautiful comprehensive thing. There is nothing that matches the restored Gospel. I often wonder how can it be that so many Americans fall away & have a faith crisis when the Gospel Center is in your homeland. Prophets are near you, but you don't see them. Temples are near you, across the street. I don't understand this phenomenon. From South Africa.

The things about our faith that you say are indefensible - I might encourage you to suspend disbelief for a time, come to church with us, study the Book of Mormon, learn more about our history and doctrine and you might discover it’s not all so indefensible after all. I believe you will find Jesus, His love, and truth in its fullness in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. God bless.

I think if we focus on what we have in common.. The foundation which is Christ… We push that one domino together and keep away from falling into contention and focusing on all our differences, Christ will take care of funneling and aligning us into the same path because he is the gate and if we are focusing and walking towards him we are all coming closer together just by walking towards him. We forget that and we start picking each other apart then we will complicate and make it needlessly difficult and the Devi will continue to scatter us all abroad from each other and we will continue to have misunderstandings and misconceptions and distrust and distractions.. No. “It looks like you believe in Christ and you’re determined to follow him.. Is that right? Great.. That’s all I need to know.. Let’s go.” And we leave all the loose ends that are beyond our control to Christ who has all control and he’ll take care of all the rest of that stuff in his own time and in his own way. There is a reason he put us in circumstances where we come from different places and see things a little differently and I think it’s so we can learn and grow from each other. The puzzle can be put together by keeping the focus on Christ or the puzzle can remain shattered by fixating on all the ways we are different

That can only happen if you are a member of His true Church; the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Did Jesus and the Father show themselves to the founder of your church, Jeff ? Was he authorised to found that church by the authority of the Holy Priesthood of God ? When ? And did Jesus appear to the founder of your church several times later ? Who is your prophet ? The bible is the gospel, if we do not have the gospel, we do not have God. The bible is His word, it is the truth, He is the author, Mormonism says Jesus is created but Christ is not created, He is infinite, creatures are finite. There is nothing in the bible that says Jesus is created, but it does say He was before the foundation of the world. Mormonism says there is a restored church, but the gospel never went anywhere, it has always remained, it has always been, it is now and forever. The gospel never changes, it is immutable, just like God. Once someone starts adding and taking away from the gospel, you no longer have God. The bible is an actual embodiment of divine revelation. The reason the bible is the only rule of faith and practice is because Christians believe it was delegated by the Lord, who's rule it is. The word of God does not fail or err. This is why it the church recognized that the books of the canon have binding authority overall, no other book has this authority.
