Can Lithuania fight off Germany AND the Soviet Union at the same time in No Step Back?

Today I am playing as Lithuania. No Step Back has added a new focus tree to Lithuania, one that lets you take over Poland peacefully. Let's push our luck and try to repel both the Soviet Union and Germany (who are going to attack us) at the same time. Can we succeed? I'm glad you posted this. I tried something similar with Latvia but relying on the Allies was my downfall. Seems the best way to survive is to pick Germany or Russia as your ally.

I'm not too sure about the Soviets, I've tried to help them hold Barb but so far it's been futile, the Soviet AI just folds in my experience. Especially since the Allies have become even more useless than before.

It's possible to survive as Latvia, but enemy easily bombing your trains and trucks, divisions beginning to lack of supply and you lose) Think if research 1940 fighter in mid of 38 and produce by around 5-7 factories, it's becoming possible to hold your positions

Failed runs are also a good idea, several of the campaigns I do on Hoi4 are based on your videos and I am sure it would be very helpful to know what things can go wrong

With the new dlc, everything can go wrong. I am struggling to keep all the industry and infrastructure up, at the same time the AI is printing out units like, Detroit used to build cars.

I am failing so bad at trying to make a communist polish Lithuanian commonwealth. Because if done right, it was called the people's commonwealth and had an awesome red white and blue flag. But the new DLC, changed how poland goes communist, and you now need 80 percent compliance from Lithuanian. So conquering doesn't work it takes too long. The world is at war by then.

danzig or war can't happen if you form the PLC since poland has to be the one to own danzig for that focus, not lithuania. Giving Germany memel and having them bypass danzig or war by annexing poland is a good way to go with this.

I've spent the entire time the DLC has been out trying to keep Poland alive with out going full offensive and just trying to Defend the river lines in Central Poland, And you're gunna mad lad the damn thing as Lithuania.

I like the failed run videos. Ita interesting to see how strats changed with the new DLC. I did my tried and true "form Austria-Hungary" strat yesterday but my supply was completely destroyed by the luftwaffe, so they pushed back my defensive line and I lost. Damn allies sent planes to my land but pulled them out when france capitulated

I enjoyed the video. I feel helping Czechoslovakia would have been key. It made you waste a lot of industry building forts along a massive border. Instead you could have been building forts in the Soviet border.

im first game in the new DLC was a lithuania the best way in my opinion to play it is to give up memel to the germans and form the commonweath after the molotov pact as poland no longer exists germany wont get a war goal on you and they wont justify on you, you can then focus on the soviets, all i needed to beat them was 3 stacks of inf divs built for forest tiles and a full colab gov spy operations and you can easily just push to moscow and take all of the soviets, after that you can turn your focus on the Axis. suppy planes and railway arty are the way to go, i didnt even build an airforce for my run.

I know you don't like advice, but please spread your operatives out. 100% netwerk in effected areas takes away enemy entrenchment and/or planning bonus! It has both hampered and helped my campaigns out significantly

Yeah dude post this stuff. I'm always taken back back huge vanilla dlc trees like the ottoman empire but when you play it. It makes me play a country I otherwise would usually never play.

24:40 It's not just AI being stupid, it's Allied AI being specifically coded to lose. Because "Axis big, Axis powerful". French AI is forced to avoid taking Defensive Stratagems for as long as possible. If you'd play to 1942 and switch to France, you'll see that they're developing Algeria while being one focus away from fixing EVERY negative modifier they have. They are programmed to get to them, but NOT to take them. Because in a game without handholding and stupid AI Axis would be just as pathetic as irl and all their power would be coming solely from stories made up by Allied commanders to explain their mistakes("we didn't make mistakes, germans had better troops, equipment and 15 times more of it!") and from post war memoires of german generals("we were always outnumbered, but we were so brilliant and handsome and right that we still would have won if not for Hitler and soviet cloning labs!"). That's why I'm happy not playing Ironman or caring about achievements. I just switch over and force France to take that focus:D

@@generals.patton546 tbh I would really like to play a WWII game where all the propaganda/threat inflation tricks are actual parts of gameplay. Where soviets indeed have unlimited manpower and teleporters, germans fly UFOs, US troops carry 15 guns per person and japanese cut down tanks with katanas. I know that I mostly described Red Alert series, but 1)it was silent for several years now; 2)Red Alert is post WWII and usually have only 2-3 playable factions.

I've played Lithuania about 6 times and tried a few different paths. I'd like to see you try again and make it work. Also the achievement "this is LIT" or whatever because that's what I'm struggling with. Basically Germany wrecks me because I've been re-forming the commonwealth and they won't accept a non aggression pact even with diplomatic pressure from my agency.

I think if you form the PLC and cede memel you don't get attacked by Germany as their war goal focus is cancelled; a prerequisite is 'Poland exists' (which it wouldn't)

By the way if you use a field marshal order and press shift while doing it, it will make a different kind of order that will distribute the troops more even

I have an idea for a challenge. The Pure Blitzkrieg challenge. You must play as Germany and use ONLY TANKS , Motorized and mechanized. You may add railway guns and LSTs and you can pick any kind of tank.

If you shift-right click to drag a field marshal front line, the game will organize the units in the army group as if they were all in a single army, so you won't have the issue where an army is left defending 2 provinces instead of 1 and creating an unbalanced frontline.

You could've pulled out of Germany and defend the soviet side once you noticed that they didn't have the wargoal anymore otherwise I'm not sure forming the commonwealth would mean that you're facing the german frontline headon while also doing the same against the soviets you'd have to win before france capitulates

Maybe try out a monarchist Anastazia run for Poland thats unhistorical? I tried it and theres a fun national focus path that lets you ally with unaligned Germany. Makes for a fun run

The Allies can't protect you in the Baltic Sea if Germany controls the Kiel Canal. For some reason the game blocks ships from entering those zones even though there is another route around Denmark.

I did the same and decided to give the Germans Memel. However I integrated poland before they could demand Danzi which made the AI not go for it. Then I crushed the soviets and through some strange occurences they were fighting the Japanese at the same time. This enabled me to pwn most of the soviet areas (Germans took a small amount) and most of China, Communist China and Shanxi. After that I crushed Germany, Japan and Italy before building up and crushing the allies with the help of Italy and Japan whom I puppetted before for their navies. The rest was just a clean up. It is a very fun tree in my opinion. Also I used a lot of railway siehe guns for the heck of it. It was funny shipping them over to Canada :D

I exile voldermort wait for facism to creep up then do the lithuanian volunteer corp thing just below it, it gives 1% recruitable pop and it stays post iron wolf being terminated. It's an additional 70 days, but for a future 1m manpower, I think it is worth it. Essentially like changing from volunteer to limited conscription for 70 PP

By annexing Poland it would have been beneficial to you most likely, also trying to gain Czechoslovakia would have been a better idea. However the start location being Lithuania does make it rather hard to do much more. Regarding the Allies, well to be fair, they do need to pass Germany to come to you. So a lot of ships may get lost that way. But if you would to ask convoys if that's a option, then it might gain some much needed weaponry and armor. It would at least give a better chance to keep both Germany as Russia away from you for longer. At some point you might even be able to take over land south, meaning Hungary and Romania for example. More land does mean more troops which on turn means you will be able to do a lot more. Perhaps even attack Germany

The USSR has NKVD advisors which increase the probability of your agent being captured. It's virtually guaranteed unless you recruit local operatives.
