It's great to hear intelligent discourse on KZbin for once! Thank you for that!

This seems to be a first world problem, I'd say. In India, it's the opposite. Women are expected to become mothers and quit their jobs if necessary. As you say, some women want that, so there's no problem here for those women. It's more difficult to find people supporting a working woman. It's so amusing that you guys have the opposite problem. I emigrated to the USA for a while, to escape the mindset we have in India, and to live independently. I came back to India when I realised this - The problem is not that some people have different opinions than me - the problem is I am asking them to change themselves, for me. And that's never gonna happen. I realised I have only one choice - I can make myself miserable expecting approval from all, or I can hang with those who are like-minded. I stopped trying to explain my choices, stopped seeking approval from others, stopped seeing people who oppose my choices. I just live my life, and that is freedom. Tomorrow, if I change my mind and become a homemaker, I am free to do that - no one has to give me permission for anything, least of all my friends. If you are a homemaker, find others who are also homemakers. If you are single, find other singles. If you are an alien, seek other aliens etc etc.

Thank you for your comment and insight! I agree that this is more of a problem in modern western democracies where women and men often have the same education/career opportunities. I like your advice to look for likeminded people and surround yourself with them if you want to feel supported.
