Great episode. I think its amazing that people can sit down and try to understand more about each other. Religion, whether you like it or not, whether you agree with it or not, is a real part of society and its essential you try to understand it and why people practice it. And in a wider perspective, its great when people can sit down like adults and talk about these topics respectfully rather than hitting each other in social media.

I am waiting the ustaz the key word. "This is not my area of expertise, I cannot give explain without referring to the Quran and Hadith" such ilmu fikh , tauhid etc. Meaning about Islam practices we cannot use our own logic and personal opinion. But these conversations can be more interesting if they invite the SG Mufti.

What if the man is not able to have children? What if a man dies and leaves 4 wives and numerous children incapable of caring for themselves? It's not only 4 wives, Islam allows for concubines and Muhammed had more than 4 wives and numerous concubines who are war captives who can be traded in markets for slaves. Go watch Rob Christian, Christian Prince, Sam Shamoun, debates or Apostate Prophet, Lloyd de Jongh, David Wood, Harris Sultan and ex-Muslims who will give you a clearer view of Islam. Notice that when Muslims talk about Islam, they never give you any scripture evidence to back up? So, go to these youtube pages to have a better understanding of scripture with evidence from Islam scripture and acts of Muslims, especially Muhammed and his early companions and Muslims today.

My friend is a 2nd wife. She was wooed by the 1st wife. Apparently, 1st was ill and incapable of doing her wifely duties so it was she who looked for another wife for the husband....they are like sisters with the 2nd highly respectful of the 1st....I say to each his own but this idea of polygamy covers various reasons and can go beyond mere lust

The traditional polygamy in islam is a beautiful thing. The polygamy in your mind is dirty. We practice Islam, not your opinions.
@peelfreshvita3199

@daval husen "so when the man gets ill the man will bring another husband for his wife " -> OP is speaking of her friend's arrangement and solution which is permissible in Islam, meanwhile you are generalizing a non-permissible solution according to Islam. "in islam polygamy is not for lust" -> in Sahih Muslim 1466, a woman is married for her property, her status, her beauty, and her religion. -> and Islam caters for human needs. -> Lust isn't a bad thing. It's a human nature. -> It's unfair to limit everybody on their capabilities on permissible things. "its for widowed and old aged women who have no support" -> in surah An-Nisa 4:3, "But if you fear that you will not be just, then [marry only] one OR those your right hands possess [i.e., slaves]" ->What you said is sunnah as done by Rasullulah SAW. -> However, it is also a sunnah whereby Rasullulah SAW married Aisya RA at 6 and Aisya RA moved into his household at 9. -> But polygamy isn't only as what you or i said, but as per the person wanted it, permissible in Islam. -> If said person wish to marry a younger baligh girl, able to take care of her, able to be fair to his wives, albeit in the same passage, a warning is given "But if you are afraid you will fail to maintain justice, then ˹content yourselves with˺ one or those ˹bondwomen˺ in your possession. This way you are less likely to commit injustice.", it is permissible "when a wife gets sick a husband should help her , vice versa when a man gets ill the wife stay with him forever and helps him" -> this is ideal. however in reality, not everybody is ideally perfect. -> one of the criteria for eligibility for marriage is sane and abled. -> divorce is permissible, even though stick to them is more honorable, consideration of what everybody can handle is more practical rather than sticking one societal rule for everybody, as permissible in Islam

I saw that before.. But if we are going to talk about population growth. Polygyny makes more sense. A Polyandry society cannot produce nowhere near the number of babies required to replace, much less, grow a population the way a Polygyny society can.. Without growth, society stagnate and faces real threat of depopulation and being overtaken by external forces.. Polyamory on the other hand would be a civil nightmare of confusion.. No.. Polyandry and Monogamy are the best choices for human society.. imho

The ustaz probs shouldve mentioned regarding the four wives thing... it is not as easy as some people think... in Islam the potential bride has the right to place premarital conditions on her to-be husband in order for him to get his proposal accepted - one example being that he can only marry one wife. So if she puts her being the only wife as a premarital condition before she agrees to marry him, then by islamic law if he later on decides to get married to a second wife, she has the right to instantly divorce him. And she will also be protected financially after divorce in terms of alimony, him providing for his their kids etc... Additionally if she also wanted to have a specific premarital condition of say receiving $x amount of money on top of being granted a divorce in the scenario that he later on decides to take on another wife after they are married (and she puts forth this condition before she actually agrees to marry him) then that is accepted as well. That is why it is important for muslim women to be educated in their rights in marriage before agreeing to marry the guy and not just be blinded by interest/love.
@yecly
@yecly 2 жыл бұрын
I think he didn't mention that to let the synergy flows between the topic introduced by hosts. If he really tried that, that whole "fiqh" thing, it's gonna be DRY, BORING, ACADEMIC PRESENTATION. This is just a fun, trivial chat session. Plus, not the right audience mahhh here to discuss all that in detail.
@Emsyaz
@Emsyaz 2 жыл бұрын
No pious Muslim women would put such condition before marriage.
@yecly
@yecly 2 жыл бұрын
@@Emsyaz That's not the conditionof being pious. Women are not the slave of the husband nor a husband is the master. What century do you think this is??? If those are the preconditions of the marriage and the man don't agree, he'll have the freedom to seek someone else. Nobody forcing him to do anything. Protecting yourself from being abused or neglected is definitely not discredited you from being pious. That's just being smart. Pious women are most certainly intelligent human who know her rights infront of the God, knowher religion deep inside, not some dumb *ss b*tch whom craved BDSM of being a slave. That's f up.
@HQR000
@HQR000 2 жыл бұрын
@@Emsyaz that is your personal belief as a man, it is not made up by me, it is an islamic ruling, so pious or not I dont think that is for you to judge. In islam God made women be able to have these sort of rights in marriage over their husbands for a reason, just like how men have their rights over their wives in other things for a reason.. if marriage is only beneficial for one party and the other party do not get their rights fulfilled then might as well dont get married at all, because it wont last. Fyi, I personally know a hafizah (someone who memorised the quran cover to cover) who got married to a hafeez. She put a premarital condition of being the only wife, and he accepted. She is known within the community to be a pious lady from a pious family. And your argument is?

I believe why the ustaz couldnt answer... maybe he didnt understand the question/context you guys had in mind (I believe he wasn't even exposed to this sort of western concept before like he mentioned). In islam a threesome or more is not a thing. Even if a man marries more than one wife he cannot have intimate relations with her with the other wife present for obvious reasons of decency, morality etc. So a threesome is out of the question. Any form of intimacy is only between one man and his wife. The other wife by islamic law must be provided a separate dwelling/home for herself and her children so such a concept of threesome or whatnot is totally out of the question.

@@Emsyaz For someone who studied fiqh, trust me, a mere sex positions or permissible of more than one sexual partners during an intercourse is not that harsh. There are discussions about that in scriptures written by scholars and expert. An ustaz of his stature shouldn't feel uncomfortable with that question. He is not an innocent and ignorant teenagers anymore, he is a learned man. An expert. He should be able to explain it well. The question is direct and simplistic some more. If he is feel somewhat uncomfortable with that question, I think, been an 'ustaz' is not a profession that he should be in. As one he should NOT be shy with such question. Sigh...

I am taught that Muslim men can have 4 wives was because during the Prophet's time, many Arab men were killed in tribal conflicts therefore leaving behind many helpless widows so in order for them to live honest lives without straying away from the tribe, generous men were encouraged as a duty to marry them to the limit of 4. Unfortunately i was not told why they stop at the limit of 4.

repentance is one of the most important things in most religions I heard of. means you are (1) recognizing yr mistakes and (2) take responsibility and its liked vow not to break it again. So its not liked lip services but really the awareness and mindfulness of the things you repent and wont do it again. More interested to know how is the prayer being conducted? saw the men standing up and opening palms, facing the 'heaven/sky' direction in the mosque. any symbolic reason for that? where is the female and how or can they pray in the mosque? what about at home? prayers etc? timing and whole family praying? when there is fasting, what are the messages shared to make or teach people to pray?

Men are women are created differently. Those who don't understand 4 wives thing , may not understand the reality that those who are legally married to one , that today you have men who have sidechicks , mistresses, secretly behind their wife , Islam came to put a stop to that and said it you want a side chick or mistress you need to marry that woman and the limit is up to 4 , so by marrying you need to provide equally and fairly to whomever you marry , if you can't do justice , then marry only one . The Prophets before Muhammad pbuh had several wives .. an example like Prophet Solomon ( Sulaiman )pbuh who had 700 wives and 300 concubines according to biblical reports . Anyways I would love to see this channel engage with more muslims !

It's funny when other countries not allowed polygamy but can do nothing with two consenting adults doing adultery or having mistress sugar baby relationship.

I think the innocent ustaz did not understand when they talk about threesome. That is not allowed in Islam. You can't have both wives on same bed at the same time. Just to clarify the non muslims who get that idea. Women and women also must cover themselves from each other from neck to knee

Polygamy is not a practice limited to the religion of Islam; rather, it is something well-known in the history of the People of the Book, the Jews and the Christians, as well. It is only in the later times that their religious men frowned upon it or forbade it outright. However, when one looks into the early history of the religions, they will find that it was at least an acceptable practice, if not encouraged. Before one points the finger at Islam and Muslims when discussing polygamy, it is necessary that one have enough knowledge of the subject and its history. One should not judge practices held acceptable throughout history though the narrow mind of the present times. Rather, one should research the subject thoroughly and most importantly, seek divine guidance.

Past and present proven situations and future that you have never seen before. Paradise is something you've never seen, but an imagining of the most tangible heavens of the past, present and future. If in heaven, virginity is a value that can be similar to numbers. It's just that virgin is meaningless and resembles zero instead of a number. Beautiful angels ("bidadaris") are just "high-end" situational wishes as you wish, and something in the well-crafted pleasures of past and present and all of mundane life. Hell is oblivion and paradox (similar to pain or suffering etc. which we know is worse than fire (hell).)

No.. And even if they can.. generally women will not want to.. There are exceptions, but we are talking about rules, so rules have to go for the general.. Women generally, by nature want to mate with BEST potential. Men generally by nature wants to mate with MOST potentials. Women go for quality, Men go for quantity. Our mating strategies, are literally opposing each other. Because of our biological functions for reproduction makes it so. Islam rulings on Polygyny caters to what is best for both genders' survival as a species. It also locks down Men's insatiable desire for quantity.
