Unfortunately we are unable to give up our bad habits so we try and justify our desire by saying not all music is bad and continue listening to musical instruments and music which contains beats/rhythms. We cannot enjoy the Quran if we listen to music because the Quran does not enter a heart that contains hypocrisy. All the 4 madhabs (Maliki, shaafi, hanafi, hanbali) have said music is haram. Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him) discussed the way in which singing creates hypocrisy in the heart, in a lengthy and valuable discussion. It’s also important to note that music during the times of these great scholars was nothing like the music of today with digital sounds, electronic instruments etc. If they didn’t permit the manual instruments of their time then what do you think would be the opinion of the music of today? The Quran is so pure and beautiful with it being the direct word of Allah our creator that there is no room for us to enjoy its purity whilst our mind, body and soul is corrupted or our hearts diseased with music. Only when you start listening to Quran daily do you find music less and less appealing. The solution is simple - replace the periods of when/where you listen to music to periods of beautiful Quran recitation. Choose a reciter with a melodious voice that soothes you internally and externally and let the words of Allah enter your heart. They will bring tears of happiness at times and times tears of remorse from sins without you even understanding a word being said, such is the power of the quran.

In Quran there is a clear indication when something is haram. Shirk, alcohol, fornication, adulatory, murder, suicide, stealing, taking the wealth of orphans, slandering innocent, bearing false witness and so on. Quran is complete and Allah has no shortage of words. Trying to make haram things God's words do not say was haram is not a good thing. It s a stretch to say all music is haram. Of course things that take you away from God are. If you are listening to music with terrible language and lyrics which is present in a lot of western rap that degrades women etc. that is haram because it takes you away from the correct path. But taking that and stretching it to that all music and dance is completely haram is not correct. "You shall not falsely declare with your tongues: "This is lawful, and that is forbidden," in order to ascribe false things to Allah, for those who forge lies against Allah will never prosper". an-Nahl 16:116 My advice to you would be to hear God's word in the Quran carefully and heed them and stop spreading things that God did not say. Remember Hadith cannot override Quran. Body of Hadith was compiled 150 - 200 years after Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), in 8th and 9th centuries mainly in Persia after the period of Rashidun Caliphate and even the Sahih Hadith cannot contradict Quran. It can elaborate details of what Quran clearly says and Quran clearly does not forbid all music. Prophet PBUH also allowed playing of musical instruments like drums and singing song and celebration upon arrival in Medina. Anas ibn Malik reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, passed by some of the girls of Medina and they were playing their drums and singing the words, “Muhammad is an excellent neighbor! We are neighbors from the tribe of Najjar!” The Prophet said, “Verily, Allah knows that you are dear to me.” Source: Sunan Ibn Majah 1899 Since there is no irrefutable saying in Quran banning all music you should be very very careful about putting these things out and heed the warnings in the Quran. May God guide us all on to the true path.

In Islam, as how I understand, nothing of extreme is halal. Music, eating, sex or any craving of sort. Islam is a midium or ( Moderate ) religion. Even eating or anger or sex or any other want we have to be moderate. Even in religion, we can't always be in the mosque praying. We have to work to live our lives, take care of the family and our people, neighbours on and on. But pray 5 times a day give charity to the needy. So as how I live and believe. It isn’t true music in a sense, but it’s enough to add such an effect to your music without being haram. The type of *music* that is allowed is the kinda SINGING that we consider lullabies sung by mothers to lull babies or just SINGING that boosts moral during hard-work or during long journeys or tough times or JUST poetry recitals. Provided the lyrics are clean and not unislamic. THis type of singing was prevalent in the time of the prophet S.A.W and its the type that comes naturally and requires no musical practice on the part of the singer. 2) The other type of MUSIC permitted is singing that WOMEN engage in during weddings or celebrations. This type is again is not the type that requires musical knowledge. Its just singing and its only by women for women. They are only allowed a tambourine as an instrument and nothing else and obvious lyrics should be clean and not unislamic 3) a) As soon other instruments other than the tambourine are involved and b) The singing follows certain musical principles and melodies and tunes that require learning and practice c) The singing is done as a profession d) lyrics become unislamic e) The singing is done by women for men or men for women f) the singing is granted preference over Quran - it becomes prohibited Why not listen to nature sounds instead ? Sounds of rain or the wind or sounds of the ocean and waves or sounds of birds and animals. There are so many recordings online for freee... and you can edit and loop them as you please? Everyone knows thaaaat isnt music and it is also relaxing.

first of all we all have to understand that htese scholars are just humans like us. there are a total of 73 sects if i am not wrong and if you take one issue for example of music there will be 73 different opinions on wether it is haram or halal. Propher saww was the last messenger of allah swt and quran was revealed to him through wahi. this means that he had a direct connection with allah swt. every muslim has a connection with allah swt but i am here stating in a sense that allah swt gave his message to prophet saww and he delivered it. but after propher saww there is no person who has this ability, not talking about miracles or people with miracles just saying that there are no people who have a connection with allah swt and who can deliver his message. all the rulings and messages for the muslim ummah have been delivered already and they will be enough tilll the day of the judgement. So all of these scholars are giving these rulings on the basis of their own understanding of deen, these are their thoughts not the message from allah swt so as 74 sects have different rulings and they contradict with each other so how can we say that mufti zakir naik and all other scholars are right. it is important to see the situation in which the hadees was said, and by reading the comments these are weak hadiths so the thing in the quran it is not mentioned that music is haram, drinking alcohol is haram and mentioned clearly in the quran so if music is not written in it then its not haram. We can't believe it as haram on the basis of single hadith. These scholars if the matter is which they not like they will decide haram/halal on one hadees only and if they like something they will say there is not enough evidence because this all come down's to their personal thoughts or mental level we cant interpret that this is exactly what's the case because they are highly contradicting. Now the question is how much halal it is and how much haram it is, the music nowadays english songs combined with all hindi songs are filthy and dirty. but their are some peaceful songs which we can listen to the old songs i will say. Now at last i would say that all of this writing is from my mental level how i understand things somebody else will have different mental level and they will perceive things differently. may allah forgive us and guide to the right path

I'm not saying anything against what the prophet said. But i love persian music. It's not dirty and always mention Gods name in the songs. I see it as a beautiful inspiring thing, it doesn't need to be defiled. In islam it sounds like a song when you listen to namaz. In every church gathering music and instruments are played. It's even recorded in the psalms in the bible. Our hebrew prophets used instruments during their ceremonies. In heaven they also sing to Allah his praises!
