Honestly watching Neace's videos helped me climb in gold with a 58% wr in a month after being stuck in silver IV for 2 and a half seasons(not regularly playing every day). I wouldn't pay for his coaching, but at the same time arguing about his pricing is stupid. I'm not even saying there aren't better coaches around, but he is good at what he is doing, helping LOW ELOS climb. The highest priced products are not always the best, but most of times, they are good because they specialize in certain areas. Neace for me is a great low elo coach, and maybe, maybe he is a challenger level player aswell. But bitching about his coaching prices is like complaining that the store next to yours sells the same products at higher prices and in bigger volumes. If that is happening, there's must be a reason... I would buy a Tarzaned coaching, seriously, he is an amazing coach and an amazing player, but his personality is so despicable I'd rather stick to gold for life rather than pay him a single penny. Hell, I wouldn't have a coaching with him even if it was free. There's a big difference between being rough and being a total douche.

@shgalagalaa2 жыл бұрын
Your local store can price higher because theres an inherent cost of traveling to a cheaper store thats further away. Finding another coach doesnt justify a 300$ mark up. Furthermore you know what the products are. The issue with pricing coaching arises from the informational disparity between the client and the coach. A gold player has a very hard time differentiating a d4 coach from a rank 1 challenger coach. Neace advertises himself as being a challenger player and the king of macro and has built an audience that further pushes that false narrative. When the consumer has no clue of the quality of the product they are buying the supply and demand argument goes out the window. Market failures similar to this are why most sectors of the economy are regulated to some extent with higher regulation in areas where the negotiating positions are even more imbalanced.
@justoalvarez39402 жыл бұрын
I follow Neace since he was a child pretty much and I saw him personally go up to GM (it was like 5 years ago so maybe Masters) in Korea with the MuricanEagle account on stream, and he was there for like 60 days only... He might not get Chall right now, but he has climbed high elo on several occasions...
@XIplupIX2 жыл бұрын
yes and nobody says he cant get high elo in na or so. The hting is he claims to be a multi role challanger player and doubling down on it with fake screenshots of him hitting chall. So the entire point is not that he cant reach high elo (master or so) but that he is not a multi role challange rplayer which he claims and uses as advertisment for a long time
@GriefingGamer2 жыл бұрын
I like midbeast’s take on coaches not having to be extremely high elo. I guess it depends how much he uses it as marketing material. If your claim to authority is being challenger then that’s being a bit disingenuous to your clients. If you just claim to be a coach and don’t really flex your rank then that’s fine
@SHERMA.2 жыл бұрын
i like your example BUT quite often in sports the reason those great coaches are no longer that good at the olympic highjump anymore is because they are 50 years old and their vehicle cant run the same whereas in e-sports its like.. if the coach can sit down and coach he should able to sit down and play
@GriefingGamer2 жыл бұрын
@@SHERMA. I think the difference I’m trying to make though is that sometimes great coaches aren’t the best players but they are great coaches because they have patience for the people they are training and have some sort of an eye for the game. An example I like to use is like basketball where Gregg Poppovich never played pro basketball but is an All Time coach meanwhile one of the greatest point guards of all time like Steve Nash currently just got fired for being a horrific coach. Sometimes it’s more so that talented individuals just suck at coaching because they’re talented at the game and have no patience for people who aren’t as talented and don’t grasp the concepts as easily as them. For example Neace is able to coach and have patience for a player who has never touched the game and doesn’t have the understanding of the terminology that would be considered widely known by the League community like breaking down what CS is and why it’s important to have a lot of it and stuff like that. Meanwhile a coach like Tarzaned I feel as though wouldn’t have the patience or like understanding to explain the beginner concepts to someone who is new to the game.
@SHERMA.2 жыл бұрын
@@GriefingGamer yea but your not considering the fact that in a ever changing game season by season a great coach has to be a great player, if he doesnt change with the times each season he will no longer be a great coach whereas a great Olympic 100m sprint coach never has to deal with the adversity of the 100m sprint changing season by season i was simply highlighting the fact you cannot compare esports coach to a sports coach lets meet in the middle and look at something like chess, you could of been a great chess player back in the day and be a great coach nowadays... BUT if u stopped playing at 65 you would no longer be a great coach for those at the top because you wouldn't be putting the hours in as a player to understand the new openings and lines people are playing in esports with seasonal changes to meta's and rulesets its not possible to be a "great coach" unless you actively being a great player ofc you could still be a great coach in terms of moral, inspiration and motivation but thats a different topic lets say neace stopped playing/watching/coaching and went and lived in a cave for 3 years and came back day 1 to coach someone, he wouldnt even recognize the items or the new champions or the new objectives, a great coach would fall gracefully due to not being around the sport its a different story

To be honest I don't even really care what elo Neace can personally reach. In regular sports the best coaches are rarely formerly best players. What makes Neace's coaching bad, imo, is the actual bad coaching, not his rank. He gives the most generic advice and his method of basically just backseatgaming a match and then calling it a day is nearly worthless for people actually wanting to improve. Nobody can play the game while basically being remote controlled via voice coms and also take anything meaningful away from that for the future. Props to him for the hustle, though. Who wouldn't charge 350$ per session if they could? He's built a brand that people seem to like even if I cannot see much value in the actual coaching, especially compared to other, cheaper coaches.

He spends probably 70% of his day coaching, and maybe 20% playing league himself, so I've always expected that his skill wouldn't be at challenger. Idk, I've always seen it as a "I've done it once" kind of claim. It isn't a lie that he has done it, nor has he hidden where he has gotten it in recent years. And as others and you have noted, his price point has come as a direct result of people booking him constantly. Its an effort to slow the flow of bookings so he has a life outside of coaching. I understand that neace is coaching bronze silver gold players but he is just playing the game for them instead of playing for them he should ask them why did he told the student to go side lane for example what will that guy do when he goes in game without neace telling him what to do every second he needs to understand why is he doing certain things. If the guy is iron or somthing and plays with locked camera and levels with mouse and always misses cs he would tell him level with ctrl unlock camera practice farming in practice toll but if a student is gold or Plat he should explain why is he telling him to do certain things. About this video neace didn't play before this that's why he is missing cs making mistakes in lane his fiora is lacking mechanicaly cuz he didn't play still enough games to be good on fiora (this game he lost mindgames against Darius was waiting for parry first so he can secure the pull and get his 5 stacks neace w was to early. I played against gm Rene otp as fiora. he had pta and went lethality got 4 solo kills on him ( I was slow pushing into tower he gets close to last hit I r him he gets into tower range I get turent aggro but I still didn't used my w after turent started focusing me I q behind him to proc vital and then I insta used parry and block his w cuz waited till last moment to parry the matchup is diceded by one spell like fiora vs Darius, Rene, riven.. To explain better neace w early Rene waited next time same thing he goes for cs Darius engages he should trade with Darius a bit and imidetly running toward tower ( he must trade a bit so Darius doesn't get a free health advantage) so while he is running and kitting Darius ( all this time Darius is in e range) he legit needs to wait to the point until it would be trolling not to use his e( darius chased fiora from minions to tower fiora is 3 seconds off getting into turent range so darius is being forced to hook fiora parry it and imidetly can kill with ignite cuz they traded hp when darius engaged on fiora darius didn't get any advantage in lane that gives better odds that he will pull that second to try get bigger advantage or solo kill him and he's playing solo queue. But in like 50 games neace will play better for sure. THAT WILL BE 350$ I'M SO HIGH

The thing with NEACE is that he's a content creator. His videoes is for intertainment. I'm not the best league player, but i feel like i know a good coach when i see him, just by the way he/she manage their student. I've watched a lot of his videoes, and the way he treats his students is for INTERTAINMENT. He knows that 90% of people watching his videoes watches him because they think it's funny when he goes full psycho mode. And I'm sure that at least 50% of his costumers hires specifically him, because they want his "approval". A lot of people in league think that they're better than they really are, and some people that buys his coaching thinks that he will tell them that they're really good at the game, and with them he will be different. Buttom line is, his sessions isn't optimized for the best coaching, it is optimized for intertainment.

He hasn't had the time to actively climb in forever so give him the end of last season , and preseason to get warmed up and then we will see. It's hard to compare him to players that have been grinding 1000s of games on 12 different accounts. Not really. A Fiora can get punished easily as long as you know what you are doing. 2nd of all, Neace's spacing was abysmal, like absolutely atrocious even for a Diamond. On the ping he is playing there, I see no excuse to position and react to enemy movement so poorly, sloppy and slowly. You claim to be a challenger coach but you lack the fundamentals and mechanics to even survive the average Diamond KR player. Fiora excels on enemy mistakes as long as you can punish them and your hands+brain are capable to do so. In this lane phase within the video, that was lacking on 99%. The W usage was of a silver/gold/low plat beginner Fiora player, but we are talking about NA Challenger coach. See how easily it can go either way of the argument ? I don't wanna go against you or anything, but Fiora does not automatically win lane phases. In fact, often times, Fiora players swap the Conqueror for Grasp setup just to have a decent laning since they know that some match ups are literally 50/50 and even then it's up to them to make it so close. There is this misunderstanding around the league community that splitpushing duelists are Exodia on lane phase. They are not. They are REALLY vulnerable to the keen players against them.

I'd also say that neace is mostly coaching low elo players to break years of horrible habits and lazy playing - which is helping them finally break through the wall. The price isnt something I ever care to debate because I'd do the same. If people will pay the price, thats what its worth. @@pvpu3304 He duoq'ed with a top 10 rank player up to peak GM. This is a far stride from being a multi-season challenger. Although, I do sorta agree with you: a majority of his clients are so awful that they have been stuck an entire decade in the lowest ranks. However, there comes two issues to mind for me. That these people would never have come to Neace if he had admitted that he is a peak high diamond player in soloq. And that if you were any form of mid-high elo player receiving his coaching's you were most definitely scammed. Like if you were a plat-masters player and you were told that you were spending 350 dollars to learn from another player of your comparable rank do you really think they would buy his coaching? Also, little side note I learned off watching his jungling in Korea. He is most definitely not qualified to teach every role, and that includes jungle. I'm not going to get into the whole Neace debate too deeply, but some of the best coaches in the entire sports world were never elite players. Understanding the game, and more importantly being able to relay that to another person is much different than personally being able to execute those lessons in real time. I haven't been overly impressed with any of his coaching that I've seen, but I know he goes out of his way to interview and learn from one-tricks in order to get a better sense of their Champion. So is he going to be able to teach Faker how to improve his game even more? Probably not, but 97% of the League player base is below Diamond, and those players can certainly learn something from Neace. Whether or not that knowledge is worth $350 is up to the player.

His audience likes him. Also, when it comes to coaching. I think charging higher is better because it weeds out students that aren't actually serious about the game. If your willing to pay that much you have to take it seriously because you have so much skin in the game. He also has such a big audience now if he was charging like 20-30 bucks an hour he would probably have way to many orders to fill. and if he is gonna do this for a living he needs to be making enough to pay do new things in his business while also hitting long term goals for retirement. If he charged 20$ an hour he would make like 800 a week after taxes. He would gross like 38k a year. is that really enough to justify doing this full time? especially considering he would have to work 7 days a week 8 hours a day to hit that 800. what kind of quality of life is that? If you want cheaper coaching go to a coach that does it on the side not as a full time job. There are 500 billion coaches out there. But that's my thoughts. Time constraints aren't an issue atm, and it seems he's probably just limit testing until he knows what fights he can truly take and commit to. As Midbeast says here very well, the mechanics (especially laning) of Korean players are really high and therefore know their fights better due to their low ping. Neace also started doing VOD reviews of challenger Korean players in between games and coaching, and he does recognize that full sending every fight isn't really the move like in NA or EU, and I'm personally hoping to see him improve rapidly next season and optimize his playstyle to be more tactical rather than "let's just see what happens", because realistically that only gets ya so far

I dont think anyone has a problem with the fact that people are willing to pay $350 for coaching, but that neace afaik advetises himself as being a challenger player for that coaching which people find deceptive
