I'm from Nebraska, we see deer all the time. But the first time I saw elk in the wild, and had to stop and allow them to cross the road in Washington state it was awe inspiring. To see an animal of that size just wandering around as free as me. I just wanted to keep watching them all day.

When I was a child my parents would always go to Bear Lake for opening day of fishing season. We usually had to get their before light and they would go out and get a good spot to fish from. I’m a native Coloradoan, now 79 . Loved visiting RockeyMountain Park with you . Happy you all had fun. I am blessed to live here in Fort Collins. Love this. I used to see elk and white tailed deer on the property I lived at in Washington. The owner of the property said the elk herd used to be about 30. It dwindled to about 9 by the time I left. No, I didn't hunt.

I can tell Cassie is hurting. I absolutely understand your back pain but as Mommas we just push through it. Love seeing yall have such a good time. Praying for you Cassie. I'm 51 and cant walk longer then 5 mins with my walker. Its no fun but I push through when I absolutely have to. Skee ball is my favorite game. Looks like they had so much fun things to do.

Driving on that road is probably one of my most favorite places in the world. Trail Ridge Road is the highest continuously paved road in the world. You are lucky to take that drive. Only a few weeks ago it was closed due to snow. You can see big horn sheep, mountain goats, elk and many other critters on a regular basis. Glad you are enjoying my beautiful home state. Making memories with family is so wonderful, something they will remember for a lifetime. My parents did that with me and my 5 siblings when we were young. Not all at the same time, but we went from Mexico to Canada and through Idaho, Colorado, Nevada, and Arizona. We lived in California as our home base. Back in the 1990s, my mom and I went to Alaska also. When I was an adult I also visited Texas. Another time I went through 26 states via Amtrak Train, with my 2 oldest children and we stayed in South Carolina for 5 days. In 1982, I lived on Maui for 6 months, and I hated to leave. This world is a beautiful place, and God has blessed us with His beautiful creation. I'm happy you are sharing that with your family, too.

Probably 20+ years ago, we took the kids to Celebration Station in OKC, I think it's still there. The kids loved it! So great watching the kiddos have fun and Colorado is beautiful!

When my parents and i went on vacation to Minnesota, we used to feed the chipmunks popcorn kernals. They went thru bags and bags as they stored that for winter. What a riot they would stuff their cheeks full. Have a great rest of vacation, this is one summer you all will remember. God bless.

Wishing I was already moved to Tennessee but still have a couple more weeks till I move so I am suffering in this Texas extreme heat wave right now it's 106 degrees here I can't wait to be moved. Tell Mazzy and Ranger I loved both of their pictures that they colored at the chuckwagon dinner. In the early 90's, my late husband and I took the Fall River Road up into Rocky Mountain National Park on our motorcycle. Only 1 way ...UP! The road was originally hand dug by convicts in the 20's. No guardrails, slick clay, and he at one point we thought we were moving up the road but instead slid straight into the mountain. We were both really glad to get to the top!!!

Colorado is such a beautiful state. I know the kids are having a wonderful time. We drove a VW Bus from St Louis to LA & camped & I didn't think we would make it up all of the mountain highways.. I couldn't go up Pike's Peak today as my breathing is so bad. The bubbles in the pool looked awesome!

Beautiful to see those mountains. I've never been to the high Rockies. I heard the mountains on the East Coast are much older and are worn down. And the ones on the West Coast are younger because they are so jagged. I live West of the Cascade Mountains, in among the volcanoes.
