Thanks for playing my game, and I'm glad you enjoyed it! There's a lot more to go past these two introductory dungeons, plus a level editor and fanmade puzzles if you're left wanting even more after finishing the primary campaign. I'm still continuing to make quality of life improvements where I can, and this video has given me an idea or two for ways to smooth out the experience. Much appreciated!

The developer, Alex Diener, has a KZbin channel, which I've been following for years. This is his first commercial game and it is, as you say, a banger. I first found out about him due to his DROD content; if you've played DROD then its influence on Leaf's Odyssey will immediately be obvious, not that that's a bad thing. I'd certainly love to see more Leaf's Odyssey content from you.
@Aftershave-923 ай бұрын
Yeah the game immediately reminded me of DROD. I'd love to see Tyler try out one of those games as well. Diener is clearly passionate about the series in his playthroughs on KZbin as well.
@Dean.....3 ай бұрын
@@Aftershave-92 I feel like DROD would be too tedious for Aliensrock and that he wouldn't enjoy it. Might be even moreso true for vanilla DROD but I've never actually playing any of the custom DROD content. Don't know if they've added an undo button but if there isn't one, it would be too annoying having to restart rooms all the way from the beginning.
@jimcameron68033 ай бұрын
@@Dean..... DROD has an unlimited undo option these days. I'm still not sure it would really suit Tyler's style, though I'd certainly recommend he check it out.

I remember seeing that said in a discord a couple years ago and thought they were being literal and unfriendly. It's apparently a really common meme that indie game developers quote as a joke. My best understanding is that it means "this game is so amazing it'll keep you preoccupied forever", which then gets turned into a joke by telling someone to shut up and go away with that game as a bribe.

You playing this makes me think you would also really like Deadly Rooms Of Death, or DROD The simple mechanics used for increasingly complex puzzles, combined with the charm in it's story and characters, I know I would LOVE to see you play them.
@WilliumBobCole3 ай бұрын
seems the link got nuked lol so I'll just paste the generally recommended play order here, I believe this is the story chronologically, as well as conveniently in increasing difficulty order 1. Gunthro and the Epic Blunder (DROD 4, prequel to KDD; Difficulty 1/5) 2. King Dugan's Dungeon (Original game, redone in DROD 2 engine; Difficulty 2/5) 3. Journey to Rooted Hold (DROD 2; Difficulty 3/5) 4. The City Beneath (DROD 3; Difficulty 4/5) 5. The Second Sky (DROD 5; Difficulty 4/5) There are also countless user made holds, a decent amount of which frequently make people's recommended lists, but there is a TON of puzzles just in the official campaign games such that I wouldn't even consider custom content just yet.
@WilliumBobCole2 ай бұрын
Upon reflection, given how this series ended, maybe DROD is not likely to be a winner, a shame but understandable I find DROD tedious enough to play, mostly due to the size of the rooms, that I preferred to watch lol, but this series inspired me to pick up Leaf's Odyssey, and I have beaten that now, very enjoyable, and has, in turn, encouraged me to go back to DROD, and I have been making good progress, I might finally beat a hold soon lol.

@anonanon93803 ай бұрын
This is not a coincidence - Alex Diener (the creator) is a puzzle KZbinr with a *lot* of experience playing DROD holds. Well worth checking out - I do wish he had Tyler-grade money to pay for Tyler-grade editing, but he’s very smart so normally if he’s stuck on something then you’re pondering it alongside him rather than yelling at the screen.

I'm only two hours in, and this is already the best puzzle game of the year. Aliensrock says why right at 9:04. This captures the essence of Steven Sausage Roll, Baba is You, Can of Wormholes etc. which is to present very simple looking puzzles that require a clever but straightforward solution. They seem easy, then impossible, then back to easy after you get that 'aha' moment. The goal of a puzzle isn't to obscure the solution behind layers of complication, it's to teach a new concept.
