How do you develop a friendship with God? Discover how prayer evolves from religious duty to intimate relationship as we explore the biblical foundation for knowing God personally.
Join us as we unpack the profound transition from servant to friend of God, examining Jesus’s revolutionary words in John 15. We'll explore prayer life, spiritual growth, and supernatural encounters that naturally flow from intimate relationship with God. Through scripture-based teaching, learn how the Holy Spirit reveals God’s plans and purposes within the context of divine friendship.
We'll tackle essential questions about Christian prayer, spiritual intimacy, and experiencing God’s presence. Using key passages from James 4:8, Philippians 4:6-7, and Ephesians 1:17, we explore how believers can develop deeper communion with God. Whether you’re new to prayer or seeking to revitalize your spiritual life, this teaching provides practical insights for growing in friendship with God.
Special attention is given to understanding prayer beyond petition, exploring how the peace of God surpasses understanding and how spiritual gifts flow from relationship. For those hungry for authentic Christian living and deeper spiritual encounters, this episode offers biblical wisdom for developing genuine intimacy with God.

Michael, my testimony is very much like yours. As a new Christian, I started praying for hours, and one day, suddenly, God's presence was manifest, and I started speaking in tongues.

Please pray I can quite myself and hear clearly. Got burned by NAR style leader 10 years ago and our family settled into a cessation church. I love the people but I am tired of all the things we do to compensate for the lack of the Holy Spirit’s power and leading. My oldest child has seen both sides and walked away from church a couple years ago. We experienced a Spirit and Word led body briefly in the past and I so want it. My wife doesn’t see a problem and dug her heels and is now extra busy with planning church programs. Intimacy with God should be easy as isolated as I am but I find myself trying to fix everything first.

'....tired of all the things we did to compensate for the lack of Presence....". That's some Wisdom right there. Not that teaching isn't important. But it becomes *everything* when The Presence isn't there, because one is left to rely on man. In these situations, pastors with theology degrees can become idols. Not that theology degrees are bad, I'm thankful for those experts that know the ancient languages, etc. But we're not to rely on man's understanding above God's Wisdom and Spirit of Revelation.

@@JesusFreak4Everit’s not only man’s historical knowledge that gets elevated but also psychology (see RR recent video about personality profiles). I get most frustrated with programs. Things that keep everyone busy without fostering intimate fellowship with each other or God. We do a lot of things that any Godless social club can do (does) and praise ourselves from the pulpit the next week for things like … all the candy we gave out at trunk or treat. We have so much zeal but too few have seen what real fruit looks like to realize something is wrong. But that is my problem, I can’t talk because my connection to the Vine isn’t what it should be (distractions) and fruit is so intermittent from my interactions too. Speaking of hypocrisy, I wanted to do a YT channel called “We all wrong” to discuss hypocritical ways we point fingers at other Christian groups. I think the judgements RR brought forth regarding leaders are not hypocritical. I’ve just wanted to bring to light hypocrisies I’ve been a part of myself. For example Cessationists will accuse Charismatics of emotionally manipulating people into thinking they experienced God but just tonight since I made the first post I watched our cessationist pastor get excited that a special guest emotionally manipulated a bunch of people to pray a “prayer of salvation” so they can have peace of mind no matter what they choose to do in the future. I doubt anyone understood the implications of the man first telling everyone to get “grounded” with their “feet on the floor” and to take two deep breaths just before repeating the prayer with “every head down and ever eye closed”. Which is more dangerous? False security from something like that or one false experience of a “touch from God?” I believe people can truly encounter God in spite of whatever misguided preaching is going on but I sure wrestled wether or not to interrupt the show. Would you all have? I need prayer. I need to have some conversations I don’t look forward to.
