Can PS6 Graphics Achieve Photorealism?

If the PS5 Pro leaks are accurate, the eventual PS6 is slated to be one powerful console. Leaks suggest the PS5 Pro will have 33.5 teraflops, upgraded from the base model’s 10.28, but it will feature the same Zen 2 CPU.
Sony’s partnership with AMD aims to use 8K PSSR upscaling, which will help offload CPU strain to keep resolutions high with consistent 60 FPS. The most top-of-the-line GPUs today still can’t render photorealism in dynamic playable spaces. This is partly due to an offset in optimization from the games and the limited CPU in such PCs, which inevitably bottleneck performance.
Unreal Engine 5’s Nanite and Lumen systems help automate high-resolution rendering of 3D objects and ambient lighting, but it’s still a ways off from realizing photorealistic games that are not just static scenes. Gamers typically prefer framerate over resolution, but the PS5 Pro should allow both.
However, with the same Zen 2 CPU and a lower teraflop count than current- gen GPUs, it’s still behind actual photorealistic capability. The launch of new generation graphics cards later in 2024 should pave the way for a far more advanced PS6 when it drops in 2027/2028, though we’re not sure about it executing absolute photorealism.

for a console to reach that level means the price will go up a lot which will mean the idea of console will die because then people will just buy a pc that can be upgraded instead, so the console should always be on a reachable low price to succeed, and when it comes to gaming, you don't really need those stuff, games already achieved great stuff visually, the focus should be on gameplay and better upscaling.

I think the bigger question is can developers start actually making games with decent writing and game mechanics and have it work at launch?...and also what's this thing going to cost?, the next gen will be more than $500, it has to be more powerful, the current gen can barely play certain newer titles, and if let's say it's going to be $600, I believe people will walk past the plastic boxes and head to the pre-built aisle, but graphics should be the icing on the cake, work on the actual cake

We’ve still seen little of what the PS5 can really do…and once we do see it, probably towards the end of the generation, the PS6 will be doing that, but at better frame rates, higher textures etc. Put it this way…there are WAY more powerful PC’s out there and even then, you don’t see many realistic games. I also think given the way the industry is going right now…I’m not sure spending more money on graphics will be a good idea. Unless it’s for those really safe franchises like Call of Duty. Which…now that I say it…sounds probable in the next generation or two…

We've been achieving photorealistic graphics. The hardware isn't the problem, its the physics and facial animations, that's it. Current hardware can simulate realistic liquids and faces and sponge tearing and explosions and so on, developers just aren't bothering to program it because it's not streamlined enough to be as profitable as the bean-counters want yet. If devs took the time to program it, current hardware could definitely run it. That's why someone was able to fool a news outlet's photography segment with screenshots from Red Dead Redemption 2. Cuz Rockstar took the time and care to make it easy for someone to pull such a prank
