This was an awesome video and it is sooooo much needed! As a woman with 4b kinky curly hair, I need a solution as well. My last roller set left me in tears and looking like Frederick Douglas!!! 🤣😂 Yes! Please keep us posted!

My hair is 4c and my didn’t turn I got the curls but within 10 it frizz and the puffed. Foaming lotion is against me lol so how does she do hers. That one thing I missed is a really good roller set
@mysonusaf503 ай бұрын
I use lottabody setting lotion not the blue one that you have to mix use small parts and end papers to help with frizz I use those silver clips also to keep the rollers as close to scalp as possible hope this helps
@Mizzchillz3 ай бұрын
@@mysonusaf50 ok I will try do you set under the dryer or you let it air dry

@@Mizzchillzdefinitely use the lottabody you have to mix and tension is key. Also like the above commenter stated magnetic rollers and silver clips. Part hair in small sections spray and use a small tooth comb to comb through for smoothness.

Thank you for sharing Jade..I do my own roller sets at home as well and I love the body and volume..only thing i would say is that that the foam you is a lighter weight foam..for tighter textures consider use a heavy holding foam like the doux gangsta wrap and then using a flat iron to seal the style in..amika anti humidity spray is a great finisher..pre seperating into six sections also can help keep the hair organized and allow you to smooth out the hair before you roll it..also how hydrated a persons hair is will dictate how long it will last as well..hope these tips help ❤

There was a hair salon here in Los Angeles called @johnson & guess(closed) and now The Lounge On Wilshire that was known for setting every client that walked through the doors. The hair was nothing short of life, length and health. So setting hair is not new. I literally have a container of rollers of many sizes because it was so common in the past. Then we kept the roller setting products to a minimum for fabulous results.

I'm also over the flat iron straight hair look. I'm really loving the textured straight voluminous look. Did you experience any heat damage with your roller set hair?

I appreciate this. Your videos started coming up and I felt inspired to give a roller set a try; however, i have 4c hair. When i started searching other videos I realized the girls with a texture more similar to mine have very different results. So I wasn’t going to play myself and try lol. Looking forward to seeing what comes of this for you all ✨

Yeah, rollersets WILL NOT turn out smoothly on very curly hair unless you spend HOURS and HOURS under the dryer. like 4+ hours.
@donnies46933 ай бұрын
I roller set my hair quite often (4a/b thick springy coiled hair)..I limit my products and use a spray bottle to keep the hair hydrated, but not soaking wet- while rolling and prior to going under a hooded hair dryer ..I use a leave in conditioner with a bit of argan oil with some small/medium plastic rollers from the beauty supply store. I rarely ever comb out the curls-I choose to finger comb instead because I love fluffy textured hair🫰🏽😝😝 You can’t pay ME to silk press, ever!🙅🏽♀️🙅🏽♀️😂😂

I’m natural now. I used to go to Dominican Salons who did rollos, or the magnetic rollers on 4c hair. They would always ask if I wanted my hair straight or curly. I’m military and this was in Maryland and Florida and Virginia. At the time, I would get straight. I’ve seen it done with beautiful results, just need to smooth out the sections.❤

Or just ask an old school trained cosmetologist… when we do roller sets on textured hair we reinforce the set with professional round brushing to smooth the roots.

You need a Jamaicans, Haitians Egyptians and Puerto Ricans to come together to figure this out cuz they are the queen of roller setting and blow drying hair. Reach out to ms Valerie in Miramar Florida.

It’s stupid because it’s negative I’ll admit but I feel a little validated seeing you try and do 4c and realize it’s a little harder than other textures to get the same result. Thank you for taking our texture into consideration. So many people forget that it’s different for us.

I roller set my hair for decades on relaxed hair. My hair is natural now and has gotten much thinner so flat ironing makes my hair look too thin. I’ve been doing wash n goes, but would love to be able to have straight hair without flat ironing. Unfortunately, I can no longer roll my own hair because of arthritis.

4c hair will need to use a flat iron to get the smooth results, unless you use smaller rollers & small sections of the hair 😳
@kmariamv3 ай бұрын
I agree, her sections were too big. Then they can hit the roots of the smaller sections with a flatiron. They will also need to use some kind of silicone spray or serum

You can't put that much mouse. It leave it stiff and weighted. Too much product even setting mouse is a no For me I use a good heat protectant like Chi and combined that with a light weight straight serum. It could be a affordable one from cvs mielle avocado straight serum is good. OG Garnier Fructis straight or a high end one like Oribe or Moroccan oil. My point is less is more and quality is everything.
