I'm from NYC and still live here. There are no inline skate shops here. A Them shop is a double edged sword. While it's good to have an aggressive inline shop for the first time since the 90's (yes it's been that long), having a single brand is a monopoly. Monopolies are bad. We need s shop that sells multiple brands. There are really not many aggressive inline skaters here. There are people who do fitness but that's mostly it. In the last 5 years I've only seen two other aggressive skaters in Manhattan. Neither one was skating Thems. If there's one thing that people in NYC hate is not having a choice.
@darkoale329911 күн бұрын
You're right. Plenty of urban skaters in NYC. Barely any aggressive skaters. At least not enough to have much of an impact. If we had a true skate shop that sold all styles of skates, I think it would be successful. As it is only Paragon Sports comes to mind and their supply is extremely limited.
@rolandbellerud11 күн бұрын
Even if it's 1 brand, it's still a good starting point to get new skaters (the coffee shop aspect definitely drives foot traffic into the shop). We all started with whatever was available (for many that was the 1 aggressive option at Dick's), and we all learned about the other available options.
