I'm pretty sure what happened was the brand got disconnected for a couple seconds, causing the game to assume he continued to move when he didn't, and corrected itself when he reconnected. That's the only logical explanation I can come up with

That is not how League works tho. The game works from server side, so the position that he is in, is always determined by the server and send to the clients of the player, if a player is disconnected they will automove to the spawn. So even if he disconnected, it would mean that such a correction would be done solely in the Brand's client, not in the other players. What caused this issue I don't know but disconnects did not lead to this situation.

@@TheSeparhim The server side is exactly why this could happen: Brands client says he's walking towards x server says "okay, you're moving this direction" brand tries to move somewhere else, towards y, but this data is not properly sent to the server the server continues to move brand towards x. the data of his input arrives, late, letting the server know he was actually trying to walk towards y for the past second The server corrects the game state to assume he was walking to y in the last second instead, and brand seems to teleport. This is a normal way of coding servers, and you can even see that they use this in pro play, as they have game states constantly saved to return to, in case a bug breaks the game. Normal servers probably don't save the entire game, but they likely save all recent game states for, let's say the last second for the example.

​@@lunaw2174 I don't think it's the way to implement server side for games like League tho... what you're suggesting is treating client game state as the 'truth' and correct it for everyone else, but you simply cannot trust the client, let alone synchronising all game state between client. so the typical way of doing things is to put game state resolution corresponding to player input server sided, and the client having separate game state only for rendering. It might be possible it's poly who's lagging, and he's client thought brand kept walking towards tower. one problem is, League server only tell the client where the enemy is when the server think the client can see them (I assume, based on what Rioter had said before), so brand should at least briefly come into vision at the time for poly's client to know he's there. can't tell from the video tho.

Genuinely the reason brand disappeared was because from that bush you actually can’t see the far end of the lane, so he just walked back but just out of vision. This is a strat for adcs sometimes if they think they have enemies camping the bush between tier 1 and 2 so they can get to tower safely!!
