Tomas Jay I’m the same way. I have repented, believe, been baptized and pray for the Holy Spirit to fill me. But I still fear hell and constantly wonder if I’m fooling myself? I sometimes wonder if ignorance can send us to hell? Many people believe but still live in sin. I have family like that who believe in God but still do sinful things because they believe no one is perfect. But we should strive for perfection and be holy since Jesus was holy. Living the Christian life is serious and we must be born again as Jesus taught. People don’t take that serious. They still play their lotto, smoke their cigarettes, fornicate, cuss, lie, and use Gods name in vain etc etc and they think they on there way to heaven. If you say anything to them they say worry about the log in your own eye. I just fear for folks who I believe are fooling themselves. Many a funerals think their loved one is in heaven. When truth be told they aren’t. I am doing my utmost best to keep myself out of there. You keep going as well.

I struggle with the word eternity. The average lifespan being around 74 years. It seems trully unfair to the billions of people who unfortunately are raised to beleive in another God. Demographics? Does the punishment fit the sin? Eternal burning and suffering for even a compassionate loving human being because they didn't have faith. I struggle with my faith because of that very statistic. Some poor kids fate is already on a path to Hell because his parent's are Buddhist. Sin has a ripple effect. I unserstand this. You can be judged for all the pain that is caused from that ripple. Did the Rich man really deserve Hell? He was a flawed selfish human being who was presumably raised by flawed rich parents. Rich man didn't help a poor man so he gets eternal suffering. Doesn't seem righteous or fair. Suffering on Earth for 70 or 80 years is not even comparable to the word eternity. It's the very compassion for other human beings that could land me in Hell. So many lost souls because of demographics. I've met many people with many attributes of Jesus who we're Athiest. It's confusing and i wish i could just turn my faith on. I've been saved so many times and then the contradictions and questions start up again. Blind faith is hard. Atleast the disciples witnessed miracles to strengthen their faith. We have to rely on scripture that has been be interpreted a million different ways. I hope there's a Heaven. I miss my Mom and many who have passed on. I feel sorry for the Rich man in the story. Long story short. All humans are flawed and have sin. Those who sin without remorse or guilt should be punished. Punishment that fits the severity of those sins. No human souls should be punished for eternity. I pray that after all is done and the rapture has happened that God takes pity on them. That even after the divine plan is finished God will open a small window of mercy on those who were lost on Earth for the very short time they lived.

Dr. Frank Turek points out something interesting about the rich man in hell. He doesn't ask to leave hell. He asks for Lazarus to give him some water. He doesn't want to be out of hell. I am curious if that is how everyone is that is in hell. Not sure. I have a terrible past and I pray that my sins have been forgiven by God.

Romans 3:22-24 "This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus." Jesus said "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me." And also that one single soul is more precious to him than the whole universe. So if one single soul would be in eternal seperation from god, it would mean eternal defeat for gods real plan and also eternal pain for god himself. And so this won't ever happen.

What you state is not scriptural, but only translational. The original greek word used is 'Aion', which means 'age', not 'eternal'. An age is a long time but also a finite time, it ends. Scriptures often use the term 'to the end of the age' and the age to come, this is the same word used to describe the time in hell. Scriptures also mention 'ages of ages' in reference to definite condemnation of only 3 entities, Satan, the false prophet and the beast. SO a human soul may spend an age in hell but these 3 are going to spend ages of ages there it does speak to hell is not a place of a human soul eternal torment. Also 1 Col 1:20 refutes that anything that has been on earth or in the heavens can be eternally unreconciled.

I believe the answer to this and every other question is - we really don't know but I'll give you my opinion based on what i read and choose to believe based on the translation of the Bible i have that includes either 66 books (Protestant), 73 books (Catholic), 81 book's (Greek orthodox), 84 book's (Ethiopian), other? - when were these Bibles put together and under what criteria - well that depends on which Bible we're talking about. How many translations of the Bible are there - a lot. And some verses depending on the translation can be very different. I don't want to sound like a heretic but as i researched and took a theology class twice i realized how much we dont really know and are just making our collective best guess at from a particular translation and version of a blblle - and depending on which versus you choose to focus on and quote you can make often conflicting arguments - in my mind a God who is Love, who desires all to be saved will find a way for all to be saved eventually - we have eternity to work with - even a psychopath would not allow someone they love to be tormented for eternity - nevermind our Father who loves each of us beyond measure. The bottom line is we have limited information from a variety of Bibles (they all cant be the definitive word of God - if any of them are) - at the end of the day people are going to believe what they and probably believe ever other religion and bible that doesn't match there's is wrong. I just can't imagine God would be so short-sighted to set it up that way. I know i haven't changed your mind - but when i see you in Heaven with everyone else with our loving Father I'll definitely buy you a glass of wine to celebrate - God bless and thanks for listening

Thank you for the message Dr. Betters. As a Christian I completely agree with everything you said. I struggle with sin and sometimes worry that it doesn't bother me nearly as much as it should for which I ask God's forgiveness in Christ. I believe in the atonement of course but it is a mystery as to how just three days in Hell for Jesus could be the equivalent of eternity. The answer I keep coming up with is that He was sinless and did not deserve to be there in the first place. BTW I wish I had visited your church on Rt.896 in Glasgow while you were there.

C.S. Lewis thought that residents of Hell had the opportunity to repent and return to Heaven. If they retain free will, this must be the case. Surely, God can create a pathway across the chasm. When Hell is cast into the lake of fire, the residents went there with it. That is why Revelation cannot be taken literally.

@@AskDrBetters_MARKINCMinistries God didn't want to Save me. God gave me negative premonitions telling me that I was going to wish that I was Never Born as I did all that I could to please JESUS/God but God Never Loved me UNCONDITIONALLY. There is only one type of Love and that's UNCONDITIONALLY so I'll say that God never Loved me. God created me an Unbeliever, I guess as a Forerunner but he knew that it wouldn't benefit me any but he didn't care because he told me that he didn't give me Jesus Christ, then why create me if he knew that he would never help me? What's Loving and kind about that? God was always good and kind to me in the Natural Realm but evil, cruel and mean to me in the Spiritual Realm. Why? God said that he wasn't willing for any to perish. Why pick on me. Why wouldn't he help me? I fasted, prayed, literally cried and begged for God to Love me; help me. I begged God to please come live inside of me but he refused to and he set traps so that I would fail because he created and treated me mean and to go to Hell, to be forever separated from him. Hell is an awful place to go. God was always angry with me. I called on the Lord Jesus for several hours and I'm not saying that was enough but if he never wanted me; then why create me? Just to suffer forever? That's CRUEL and Evil. God preyed on my Spiritual Vulnerabilities because he knows how he created me. Why be so cruel to me all I ever did was try my best to Love him and others and obey him. I can't make myself remember something. I asked him to Please help me but he never wanted to help me; he just wanted me to be separated from him. Then he set me up for the unforgivable sin where he allowed me to experience Hebrews 6:4-6 and I was hard fasting for Victory and he had me change it to "his will be done" and I obeyed but God still didn't help me. I unintentionally made the wrong choice and he told me that I blasphemed against the Holy Ghost and Hell awaits me. He has shown me in Hell and being casted in the Lake of 🔥 Fire. God never liked me and he told me that all my righteousness and Living Holy are all on Vain and that's not nice. Those that he predestined and predetermined to be with him; he's so Loving and kind. God was good to me in the Natural Realm but Cruel in the Spiritual Realm and God knows that the spiritual is Everlasting and outweigh the natural. I served God with everything that he put inside of me and God just didn't want to Save me? Why was he so mean to me? I have devil cleaved to me and I can't repent because God gave up on me for no reason and I guess it's all because of predestination. Why couldn't he reciprocate the same love I gave him and others back to me? Why create and treat me to go to Hell and now he tells me to Believe when he knows that I can't and he has to help me. Why would he do this to me. I served him with my everything. Please respond. God never liked me as how did he intend for me to get to know him if he was never going to help me? I cried out begging and pleading for God to Please Love (help me) but he never did. I would rather be blind, crippled anything in the natural negative but for God to refuse to help and Save my Soul all because of predestination that's Cruel. Ephesians 1:4-5; Romans 8:29-30; Romans 11:25 and other related Scriptures. I'm so 💔 and God doesn't care. 😰😢. God planned for me to fail instead of succeed Spiritually. Please ask him "Why did he disliked me so much?" Recently, I was about to make an awful Financial mistake due to a SCAM but God immediately interrupted my thoughts and had me make the right choice and I didn't even ask him for help so why couldn't he do it for my SOUL Salvation. Why didn't God want to save me? 💔😰😢

@@jeanmeullion6641 Jean it sounds like you were trying to earn God's favor by TRYING to be good and do good works. The Bible says that our righteousness is as filthy rags. There are none righteous the Bible tells us. You must believe you are a sinner to begin with and that you have broken the commandments of God (we all have !). There is nobody who deserves another day in this life. We all deserve death for offending a thrice Holy God. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 [1]Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; [2]By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. [3]For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; [4]And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: John 3:16-21 [16]For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. [17]For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. [18]He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. [19]And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. [20]For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. [21]But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. Romans 10:8-13 [8]But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; [9]That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. [10]For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. [11]For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. [12]For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. [13]For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 20:21 [21]Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. Jean It is by faith ! Faith alone in the finished work of JESUS! You can't earn it. May you be blessed with the reading of scripture and may God open your heart to receive the truth .

An answer to your question: "You insist that everything depends on human choice. I reply, see how on the contrary man's choice is limited at every hand. First, man is born in sin; that is, certainly not wholly free. Take, next, the facts of life. In the first place man can exercise no choice at all as to the time and place of his birth -- facts all important in deciding his religious belief, and through that his character; no choice as to the very many and very complex hereditary influences moulding his entire life, though most often he knows it not; affecting for good or for evil every thought, every word, every act of his; no choice at all as to the original weakness of his nature, and its inherent tendency to evil. More, still, man can exercise no choice at all on this vital question, whether he will or will not have laid on him the awful perils, in which, on the popular view, the mere fact of life involves him. Further, man can exercise no choice at all as to the strength of that will he receives; no choice at all as to the circumstances that surround him in infancy and childhood, and which colour his whole life; man has no choice as to the moral atmosphere he must imbibe in those early years of training, which colour almost of necessity, the whole after life. 'But a creature cannot' you reply, 'choose these things, from the very nature of the case.' That, I answer, only proves my point, that a creature cannot be wholly free, from the very nature of the case. *What the facts point to is that God grants a limited freedom, intending to train man, his child, for the enjoyment hereafter of perfect freedom.* The vast extent of human ignorance also confirms the view that the final destinies of the universe are not placed in man's keeping. We know nothing absolutely, we know but appearances -- phenomena. We are acquainted with the outsides of things at most, with the insides never. We talk of life, of matter, but these and all other things are in themselves to us unknown and unknowable. Everything we do, every object we see, every natural operation is to us incomprehensible. *Are these the hands to which a wise Creator is likely to commit absolutely the awful issues of [heaven and hell]* ?" --Thomas Allin, Christ Triumphant, 1905, Annotated by Robin Parry edition

I've grappled with this endlessly recently. I understand that God doesn't create us as sinful beings, but rather that we inherit original sin/nature from our parents and ancestors. But even if God doesn't force sin on us, He *knew* the vast majority of His creations were going to suffer in eternity, and yet He *still* went forward with creating everything. Why not just refrain from creating anything in order to avert anyone from going to Hell? If He's willing to create all of us just to ensure that the few on the narrow road get to enjoy Heaven, that almost seems like He values the lives of those going to Heaven more than the lives of those going to Hell, which would imply that all aren't created equal. But we also know God is no respecter of persons, i.e. doesn't play favorites. I'm trying to figure it out.

@@nameirrelevant0 Yes, no creation would have been better than a creation with eternal conscious torment for any, let alone many. But, praise God, the reality is better than both of these options as well as annihilationism. -------------- The Total Victory of Christ's "Refined in the Lake of Fire" is transformational (15 minutes).

The story of Lazarus is not literal and about everlasting hell, but a parable about the Israelites (the rich man) and the gentiles (the beggar). Jesus could not point to gehanna (which was a literal place) as picture for a so called "everlasting hell" because this concept didn't exist in Jesus time, but was adapted from paganism and smuggled into the Bible by false translations in the middle ages (the words "hell" or "eternity" or "forever" or "everlasting" in context of afterlife didn't exist in the original Hebrew and Greek but where falsely translated by Augustinus into the Latin language and from there unfortunately adapted in many modern western Bible translations). In contrary, Jesus said clearly in John 12:32, that he will draw ALL people to himself. And there are many other very clear passages in scripture, which testify without a doubt, that our God is a savior of ALL mankind (1. Timothy 4.10) and will through Jesus reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross (colossians 1.20). And by the way: if eternal torment was true, and there was no way for return for all unbelievers after physical death. how could it be, that Jesus went to the deaths to preach the gospel (1. Peter 3.18-20)? In this case that wouldn't make any sense. So both, eternal torment and annihilation, are unbiblical and devilish false doctrins, because they negotiate the goodness, the will and the capacity of God and his fullfilled work of the cross and declare God either of unwilling to save all mankind (calvinism) or unable to do so, because of a alleged "free will of men" who should be overruling the will of God (Arminianism).

I've been thinking about it a lot. God is "The God of Second Chances," so why does he not let anyone leave? It seems odd to me that He is known for love and glory and forgiveness, but also created a place of eternal carnal torment of which there is no escape. I cannot grasp it, and I don't want to fear-monger my friends into becoming christians. And how do we know when we're saved? When we pray the little prayer? If we constantly reject God, how do we still meet the requirements to go to heaven, but not others? Is it because we choose to keep trying with God? I do love God, but I worry about my friends' future, as they are not saved. I want them to go to heaven with me, because I love them.

In the parable of the rich man and Lazarus it nowhere says that this chasm will be uncrossible forever it just says that that chasm is fixed it doesn't say for how long. Also there's only one single place in the entire Bible that uses the words eternal along with the word punishment and it actually is a mistrangelation it should not have said eternal at eternal the real translation which is used in all literal translation is relating to an age or age related.
@Seppnick

Great that there is at least someone seeing this. There is actually not one single verse, that says that the salvation Jesus gave us ends with the death of the body. Also in the parable with the servant in Matthew 18 it says: "And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him." Semms like a lot of people do not read the "till". And exactly as you said, the words eternity or ever is often used for a time period in the bible. For example in Exodus 21:6 - "Then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an aul; and he shall serve him for ever." I don't think the slave will still be a slave of his master in heaven. The idea of eternal punishment is so intensivly wrong and so unbiblical and it actually does a lot of harm to gods plan. It's so fustrating, so many christians belive in that without studiing the bible properly on that. And last but not least: In the parable of Lazarus, there are a ton of things to think about. The rich man doesn't repent or beg for forgiveness, he still thinks of Lazarus as a Servant hence he thinks of himself as something better, he doesn't speak to god himself, the gap can't be overcome by people but it doesn't say that god can't do it....

Its been said in that Bible that Hell itself was originally entended for satan & his demons, not humans, but because we live in a sinner's world, born into sin, & we have been given the choice of "free will" to do as we wish throughout our daily lives to either sin & rejecting God or to Accept Christ as our personal Savior so that we might be saved from the depths of eternal fire of pain & suffering in Hell! Im so greatful that i have God as my Heavenly Father, Christ Jesus as my personal Savior, & i have the love, the care, the protection, & the healing of the Holy Spirit! AMEN

If I read it correctly, what causes us to repent is that Holy Spirit convicts us of our sin and our heart of stone is changed into heart of flesh. As I recall, that was a frightening moment. How can anyone repent when the Holy Spirit no longer indwells in us. Regarding Hell, let's not get our doctrine from Tom and Jerry. satan suffers most down there along with his demons and the people that did not come to Christ.

And I recently came to Christianity but I feel so freaking condemned and MAD that my God would send my beloved dad to that place. It just hurts me so deeply. I don’t want to believe that, but I also want the truth. After all he's the one who started it all, he dupe eve to eat that apple. If satan is to be put there last, wasn't that unfair? 1peter 4:6) For this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead. That they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. The rich man and Lazarus were under the law and the prophets.(Luke 16:29-31) Abraham saith unto him,They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. And he said Nay, father Abraham; but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. And he said unto him,If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead ( Jesus Christ ) himself.

You refute annihilism, which I also disagree with, but you don't seem to mention universal reconciliation, which seems to be implied the title of the video. Let's look at Colossians 1:20. "and through him God was pleased to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, by making peace through the blood of his cross." (all people were on earth, so must be reconciled through Christ. God/Jesus is the one to reconcile all things, the reconciliation is not of the person's intent, but by the will of God. The person has been removed from this reconciliation decision, it will be done.

Hell was created by God for Lucifer and the other fallen angels that followed Lucifer in rejecting God. It was NEVER intended for people to go there but bc of the original sin, because of SIN that is where we are to end up apart from God, because we are eternal beings. We can be either eternally with God (in heaven) or eternally apart from god (separated from Him, in hell) And that’s why God sent Jesus as our salvation plan, bc He doesn’t want ANYONE to go there, bc he Loves us! And God doesn’t SEND anyone there. Let me explain: Hell is a place that was created for satan and his demons, it is a place of ETERNAL separation from God our Creator. As for US, until we accept and believe in Jesus as God the savior of our souls, we are already destined to go to hell bc we are all separated from God bc of sin, God has no sin and cannot be with any sin and we are sinner, children of wrath the Bible says (apart from Him that’s what we are, but with Him we are new creations, children of God). Anyway, we are ALREADY separated from God, and that’s because of sin in the first place. So we are already destined for hell as sinners, and when we accept Christ THAT is when we are reconciled back to God, and saved/spared from hell and then we will NOT be separated from Him anymore (in life OR death), we will got to heaven and be WITH Him when we leave this life on earth. I hope this made sense! 🤍

Dr. Betters, hi I'm a full preterist and what really made me a full preterist is that reading the old testament I noticed their is no hell in it. Their is sheol or gehenna, but their is not talk of a eternal torment. I believe the new testament is inside the old testament context. I believe Jesus was talking about the wrath of God coming for that wicked generation. And whoever did not believe in Jesus was stuck in judgment that Jesus warned of. Ps I believe in Luke Jesus mentions that he is the jonah of that generation. Which Jonah warned the people that God's wrath was coming and to repent. And one last thing, the Lazarus thing is a parable. Not literal

Hell is made for Fallen Angels and Demons and not for man, which means the banishment to hell for man can be reduced by praying to rescue their souls. As it happens in Near-death experiences the soul's visit to hell is always temporary because these souls under the guidance of angels are ready to repent and forgive and this can happen to any soul who gets imprisoned in hell, when sufficient numbers of prayers have been on their behalf by their living family members. as These souls in hell are now completely ready for confessions and forgiveness.

Adam and Eve knew there would be a redeemer and so did every human before the flood. Noah and his sons and their wives knew there would be a redeemer and so they taught. There have been very few times in history when people did not have a chance to hear THAT version of the gospel that GOD would forgive by sending a savior. Having said that, God judges based on what you DO know. You can see his character based on the world around you, what He has created. Even in this world today most people have heard about Jesus they have rejected Him.

Jesus Christ is Yahweh of the Old Testament basically people in the Old Testament believe on Yahweh and obeyed him for salvation so if they.. repentance turn from sin I gave their life to Yahweh and live for him.. ( when Jesus died on the cross he reopened the third heaven so they should be there with the Lord Jesus Christ if that makes sense) Basically if you read the Old Testament when people died in the Old Testament and they believed in Yahweh they went to Abraham's bosom which was a temporary Heaven until Jesus came to Earth and reopen the third heaven when he died on the cross

Just for the record the rich man did not go to hell because he did not know Christ, he was in hell because of his selfish and inhumane actions against the poor man

You say that the story of the Rich Man and Lazarus is not a parable but a real story. We all know that everyone who is living now are all sinners as Paul tells us "there is none righteous." So, accordingly both Lazarus and the Rich Man are equally helpless sinners until they repent of their sin. Jesus tells us in this story that Lazarus is now in comfort after his death, but he does not tell us that Lazarus repented of his sin. He is comforted because he was a poor, deseased beggar and therefore deserves comfort at his death....but there was no repentance of his sin! Many homeless, poor and destitute people living on the streets die, but if they have not repented, they are not comforted in death as many ministers will tell you. The Rich Man lives in comfort being rich and fairing sumtuously, and he is in this torment because he was rich and living in comfort, not because he was a unrepentant sinner. Jesus says nothing about these two people being repentant of their sin. Besides that, is the Rich Man Jew or Gentile? Is Lazarus Jew or Gentile? I believe Jesus makes no reference here whatsoever! But with careful observance of this parable, you might be able to figure out it's true meaning. Dude, this is a parable and not a real event as Jesus was adressing the Pharisees and them alone when he spoke this parable. Previous to this, they were rich and sneered at Jesus for outlining other parables about riches and so Jesus climaxed with this parable to make it known to them that they are not exempt from the judgment and punishment they would face at their time of death even though they are of Abraham's offspring. The Rich Man Jesus was referring to was the Pharisees! Lazarus that Jesus was referring to was Gentile, and although Gentiles did not have the Jewish Law, they had faith in Christ and now are comforted in Abraham's covenant & promise (his bosom)! This change will come about after the death and resurrection of Jesus

All that the Father gives the Son will be saved.....it is not up for grabs. Jesus came to save ALL the sheep. When you say that anyone who goes to hell goes there by choice is not true at all. Jesus clearly told His disciples "You did not choose Me; but I chose you!" The Bible clearly says that it depends not on mans desire or effort but on Gods mercy that He saves us. Man is born dead in His sins. Man has no free will to receive Christ unless the Father regenerates them (born again) and then and only then can they respond positively to the Gospel. The great 18th Century Evangelist; Jonathan Edwards said "True Christians are chosen by God; not before they were born; but before the foundation of the world." If you are a saved Christian it is only because God; in His mercy; chose to save you from your sins. You had nothing to do with it. It is by grace that you have been saved; through faith....this not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; lest any man should boast."
