@@gimpyrules6714 I hate the term "real" history or "true" history, because there's really no such thing. Everything in history is a matter of perspectives. The best we can do is read the perspectives of people who were actually there, rather than the perspectives of people who weren't, which is why Primary Source documentation is so important. I'd use the term "accurate history" rather than "real" or "true". Because our knowledge of history does change, as new sources are sometimes discovered, and there's nothing wrong with that. We shouldn't develop this dogmatic idea bout what history is "true" and what is "false" we should just try to understand it as accurately as we can, based on the information we have access to.

"I really wanna watch a Hitler speech." Its an understandable thing. And what you see in his speeches is the result of the effort he put into them. He practiced body language, movement, gestures, all designed to place intense focus on him and his words. He rehearsed each speech until he was satisfied. Its a chilling and informative thing to behold. Then watch the movie "Downfall" and see where it all led him.

@AstroXeno

I'd give it 2 1/2 out of 5 stars. They took some dramatic license with history, so don't use it to study for your exam- I haven't watched it since it originally aired on CBS, but if memory serves, Himmler and Goebbels are completely written out of the story (Himmler wasn't part of the inner circle during the period covered, but Goebbels played an important part, and he's either barely in it, or not in it at all)
@AstroXeno
@AstroXeno 3 жыл бұрын
@@11BscoutNG Well, and hence my lukewarm review. I'll have to check out Circle of Evil sometime. I can give them a pass on omitting Himmler, since he doesn't become a major player until after the Night of the Long Knives. But speaking of which, another major player who WAS completely cut out was Heydrich. Goering was in charge of the Night of the Long Knives, but delegated command of the actual operation to Heydrich. Goebbels isn't completely written out, but his role is greatly diminished.

His speeches are so hard. I'm pretty sure you could just type in Hitler's speeches on the KZbin search engine and find some. He usually starts out low and calm, like he did with his speech after being named chancellor. Then the speech slowly rises in crescendo, until he's yelling and gyrating. The audiences in these speeches are usually captivated, and react accordingly. As a matter of fact, you might want to actually react to one of his speeches, I've never seen a KZbin reactor react to one of Hitler's speeches before. In fact, I think I'm going to see if there are any reactions to Hitler's speeches myself. Great job guys, I discovered you guys earlier this week, I am a subscriber now and loving your content! 👍🏿

If you guys are interested in seeing some well-done WW II movies that based on true events, here are a few I can personally recommend: Band Of Brothers (HBO miniseries- The story of the 101st Airborne in WW II) A Bridge Too Far (Operation Market Garden- It's mostly bang bang, so the biggest thing you'll take away from it is a strong sense of why Patton thought Bernard Montgomery was a clown) Downfall (The end of the war in Hitler's bunker, and the source of those awful parodies- Finally learn what Hitler was actually saying...) Hitler: The Last 10 Days (Not as good as Downfall, but in English) Conspiracy (15 Nazis get together for lunch and discuss what to do with the Jews) Anthropoid (The assassination of General Heydrich- includes some disturbing scenes which are not for the faint of heart) Valkyrie (The July Plot to assassinate Hitler) Escape From Sobibor (The most successful concentration camp prisoner revolt of the war)

Here's a speech I remember watching of Hitler before the outbreak of WW2 taunting FDR basically saying "what is he going to do?" because much of America didn't want to get involved in another war on the other side of the world which therefore rendered the US President powerless and further emboldened Hitler. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fKWnqZ2MeNpobKc Also a really good watch is a movie called Der Untergang (Downfall in English). Entirely in German but is a first-hand account of the last couple of weeks of Hitler's life in his bunker while Germany is crumbling around him and Berlin is about to be overrun by the Soviets, as recounted by his personal secretary.

Hitler gives two speeches in Triumph of the Will- At the time it was made, he had temporarily laid off the anti-Semitic shit, (That came back as time went by, and escalated once the war started) so what really stuck with me was all the times he told the people they were finally free thanks to him and the Nazis. Oh, the irony. Hitler used to spend hours rehearsing his speeches in the mirror, and he had a photographer who took thousands of pictures of him rehearsing so he could see what poses really worked for him.

If you want to know more, google "Designer Babies" and don't just read any source, but try to find one that seems like it's coming from a reputable publication. If I can find a good source I'll try to link it, but this is definitely something that peolpe are working on, that we might start seeing in the next 50 years or so, basically tweaking your baby's DNA when they're an embryo, so they have shit like red hair or blue eyes or whatever.

The games have always sort of shown off the host country but the Berlin games essentially started that trend to show off Germany and etc etc etc. But anyways, Jessie Owens running for the gold, in 1936, in Germany, in front of hitler… ya gotta check that out.

There is an HBO series called Babylon Berlin. It's set in Germany in the late 20s early 30s. Hitler isn't a character on the show, but the rise of fascism and the Nazi party are very much part of the story. It's very good, but is also German, as in made in Germany, so you need to read subtitles if you want to watch it. There are actually several critically acclaimed TV series and movies set in that time period that take very sober and analytical view back to the madness that was the Nazi regime. One popular one was Downfall. It's the movie that gave us the shouting Hitler meme. It's incredibly dark movie about the last days in the bunker as the Russians were taking Berlin.

I have that book and have had it for about 20 years now. I'm a history buff, not a nazi supporter for the record. I have tried multiple times to read it and simply cannot do it. It's a collection of ramblings from a madman and trying to read it gives me a headache and then I put it away for a few more years before I try again. It's basically a brat rambling against Jews, loving white Germans and some other white cultures, and his plans for world dominance but again, in rambling fashion. While it was mandatory for every household in Germany to own a copy of the book once Hitler took power, almost no one, not even his own party members, ever read it. Even back then, although very, very quietly, the book was panned for being a rambling mess. If you've ever read it let me know what you think because it leaves me with a headache every time I try...
