Watching suffering is a difficult human experience.

It's sad and frustrating, but very true. Bam is a victim of his own success, and it's delayed his maturation. The worst is watching a friend or family member's life going to hell, but you intuitively know the best possible thing you can do for them is LET them hit rock bottom. My instinct when I was younger was to "save them", but from personal experience, it's always made things worse, never better. You simply can't 'inject' your life experience into someone else, and can't save someone that isn't ready to save themself. The real world can be a tough pill to swallow, and many times needs to be forced down involuntarily.

Where is Shannon? Miss her laughing in the background haha + of course her insights. Not saying that this content on its own isn't great, because it is. But just love your dynamic. 🤩

She's still in the classes and she does her own live shows, both of which you have to subscribe to them to watch. She pops up on the occasional Q&A as well. Their KZbin content is mostly their Q&As, edited.

How scary, I'd hate to be that guy. Can't wait for the Steve-O video, he has a very archetypical hero's journey.

This behaviour shows dynamic between cognitive functions. Introverted and extroveted functions hate each other. That is the whole point of "individuality". Te is: "If you want something from people, you have to behave responsible and predictable". To which Ti responds: "No. You are trying to trick me. I only accept doing it my way".

Sometimes I feel like Dave is moving further away from typology/functions and more towards just giving basic life advice. Which is fine, but it’s not pointing out the functions that’s responsible or creating problems.

@@orangeziggy348 I said what he’s doing is fine however, If I want stories I’ll find a good Si user. I prefer a more function related understanding.

Stuff like this has more insight than discussing functions only. At least for a young guy like me, his advice really makes sense and makkes me process reality a bit easily

I also somewhat grew up with jacksss, and Bam margeras reactions and personality really did remind me of my childhood best friend ESTP. The scene where he was afraid of snakes was the same sort of dismissive tone my ESTP friend had when his little ESFP brother was like playing in a somewhat fast moving river like not shaken an anxious but that same level of urgency and somewhat calm denoted tonality. Not sure where that friend is now, but I always saw them similarly I just never had the words to describe the feeling I got watching bam too in a little show I can’t remember if it was his own or just part of some random MTV reality show. I’m ENFJ so I resonate with that intensity but I can see how it would be so bleeping annoying to everyone else. The mention of Steve O too the different the way the two Se leads interact with their fight against their demons I guess would be a decent way to put it is interesting too dang.

Dave's back to calling people bullshitters. The social context is the problem, not the individual. The social context praises and criticises, and so the individual gets trapped in that stupid game. In a wise world, we wouldn't have that game and so we wouldn't have go to to rock bottom and it would be easier to go through it if we did have to go to rock bottom.

Even in a society without criticism or praise (which would be impossible), the fact that people need to grow into their functions and start off as immature means that communication styles will be different and conflict will be inevitable. People will use their saviours as a crutch no matter what. The extent to which they do this, and the length and difficulty of their hero’s journey, depends on a lot of things. Also, De users will be instinctively pinging off the tribe. Even without praise or criticism, they will still be taking in the opinions and reasons of others and judging themselves through that lens. Removing verbal affirmation will only hurt them, in my opinion, especially when they are young.
