The lead singer/guitarist was a Vietnam vet who was given The Purple Heart for being wounded in combat. I believe he was in the Marines. I also heard that several or all of the other band members were Vietnam vets.

Southern Rock is a genre all of it's own. Besides Marshall Tucker, there's Allman Bro's, Little Feat, Gov't Mule, Derek Trucks, The Outlaws, Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top, Doobie Bro's, Poco, Molly Hatchet, Charlie Daniels Band, Grateful Dead, Amboy Dukes, Black Crowes, Dixie Dregs, Ozark Mountain Daredevils, North Mississippi Allstars, Alabama..... and a whole bunch more!!!!! I saw Marshall Tucker twice, once in Dallas and once in St. Louis. High energy and loads of fun!!!

Lol…. I just made almost the same comment to another reactor about Southern Rock! I agree it’s almost it’s own thing. Is it Rock or Blues or sometimes sounds a little Country with blue grass elements…. Idk maybe it’s all of those! But it’s GREAT either way!!

The Marshall Tucker Band, The Allman Brothers Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and ZZ Top were considered the top of the Southern Rock Sound. Marshall Tucker's songs like Searchin’ for a Rainbow’, 'Heard In A Love Song', 'Take The Highway, and ‘Fire on the Mountain,’ are all great songs by the band. The Southern Rock sound has so many bands to choose from, mostly all amazing.

The Marshall Tucker Band is an American rock band from Spartanburg, South Carolina. Noted for incorporating blues, country, and jazz into an eclectic sound, the Marshall Tucker Band helped establish the Southern rock genre in the early 1970s. The original line-up of the Marshall Tucker Band, formed in 1972, included lead guitarist, vocalist, and primary songwriter Toy Caldwell (1947-1993), lead vocalist Doug Gray (born 1948), keyboard player, saxophone player, and flautist Jerry Eubanks (born 1950), rhythm guitarist George McCorkle (1946-2007), drummer Paul Riddle (born 1953), and bassist Tommy Caldwell (1949-1980). They signed with Capricorn Records and released their first album in 1973, The Marshall Tucker Band.

He is also 4 years older than I am, and you almost look like and sound like him, although you are WAY more musically talented than either of us. We are still really close even to this day! And yes, it's fun rehashing all these concerts we went to...never thinking a thing about 'em, it was just what we did. Plus they were only $5 or $10 bucks for tickets.

Toy Caldwell was a veteran who received a purple heart for injury in Vietnam. His brother was in the band too. Do you mean??????? The Grand Ole Opry is an American weekly live country music radio broadcast from - and a several nights per week performance held at - the Opry House in Nashville, Tennessee. It was founded on November 28, 1925, by George D. Hay it's oprey not opera

Great group live (of course they did this song but another great one they do is "Take The Highway”) and real nice guys too. I had the pleasure of meeting them all, cooking them dinner & hanging out backstage when they gave a performance at a venue owned by a friend back in 1999. These guys were part of the Southern Rock sound and more great bands (sadly overlooked these days) a few more bands in this group include Poco - a must listen by them is “Crazy Eyes", The Outlaws - "Green Grass and High Tides”, The Band - "The Weight (take a load off Annie)”… check them out too. As far as Jethro Tull and amazing flute work, check out “Reasons For Waiting” I know you haven’t heard Ian play like he does on this one yet!

If they were cars on a track going round making laps there are some that are ahead of JMBOY TV… they have more time on the track and more miles traveled…BUT… JM is the Fastest Car On The Track. At the rate he’s moving he is doing laps around the field catching up to the leaders and will soon be among them in total numbers…. I just smile, again.

Just subbed.... I really like your song choices. All the stuff I loved for years. I'm gonna suggest a song. Its one that no one ever reacts to but has some of the sweetest guitar you'll ever hear. Its called "Face The Fire" by Dan Fogelberg. Its about the Three Mile Island Nuclear power plant meltdown in Pennsylvania 1979. Very terrifying back when it happened, but no one ever talks about it anymore. Even if you dont react to it, give it a listen for yourself. You love guitar, youll love this.

Excellent reaction! And I was super thrilled to see you played the whole song without pauses or interruptions. (I subscribed to your channel for that reason) it pisses me off to the max when reactors pause the damn song every 15-20 seconds to bullshit about nothing that much relates to the song. The song just starts to groove & they pause it. There’s one channel that I refuse to watch anymore because he is constantly pausing during the songs guitar solo, as if that’s not an important part of the song. Kudos to you Bro, I hope to watch more of you. (No pauses please, lol)
