I think when we look at jackets we have to be honest, you're probably not wearing your grand-dads clothes. That's because it is far too common for people to vary enough in size and fit between generations that there is no chance of wearing their dad or their grand dads clothing without it being tailored and many clothes are impossible to tailor enough to change sizes. This is notably different from a watch or other more "traditional" heirloom items which can be far more easily resized if they do not fit the inheritor or which do not need resizing.

For the price I really don’t think it should have a big seam down the middle of the back of the jacket that will eventually tear and split open. For that price, you would expect them to use less panels of leather and instead use larger panels that will make the jacket more durable.
@roepetoepa Жыл бұрын
Yeah this jacket is massively overpriced tbh, I owned this jacket and this is not a 1000 dollar jacket but more like a 500 dollar range jacket. The leather is pretty spongy, theres a ton of seams everywhere and the cut is just not that great (the chest is super small but shoulders are massive). You can do way better with a thousand dollars at Tenjin Works, Aero Leather or Johnson Leather.

The back seem doesn’t bother me. In other reviews, my gripes are more with small pieces of leather used on sleeves or the bottom flap. Here, I actually like the way the patterning was done here, with the pieces of leather used to great effect for comfort and movement. IF there had been a chest seam, then I would’ve raised hell.

Taylor Stitch’s prices are absurd. Clearly people buy them, but I refuse to pay $200+ for a button down shirt made in China. I’ve literally had custom dress shirts made by an English tailor for less than that. I did buy one short sleeve button down from them off of Huckberry once and the material was very cheap, overall quality was way subpar compared to JCrew shirts which cost 1/3 of the price. Golden Bear looks like it can justify the steep prices though.

Good jacket, but likely worth waiting for find used. I picked up at $600 on Grailed. Great in Golden/"Orange", the only jacket I have gotten complements in public as a dude. Color really pops. Took it to a cobbler to get refinished as previous owner had worn it well. Cobbler was impressed in the vintage style & naked steerhide. Later I got my Father a Aero for around $800 similar style, but larger panels, chromexcel horsehide; etc. So for full price there are a lot of competitive options in simmilar style. But as the review said - over a lifetime or wears, it can easily be worth it for full price.

This Jacket is easily worth the money. I have had mine for a year and it is easily the jacket that gets the most compliments and most wear out of my outerwear. The mistake I made was I order this and a Schott 530 at the same time. My Taylor Stitch is Espresso and the Schott is black. For what I paid I should have just bought 2 of the Taylor Stich Moto Jackets in the 2 colorways, because the Schott gets very little wear comparatively. Yes it runs slightly small, but that is to be expected from leather that is meant to break into you. But it is a great jacket HIGHLY Recommended.

Speaking of leather jackets. I've owned less expensive A-2's and they're just cheap in every way. I just ordered a Horsehide A-2 (USA made) at a Black Friday discount of 30% which still set me back $595. I was prepared to purchase a Real McCoy at $2000 but, since it's made in Japan I was very skeptical of sizing as I'm larger than any Japanese man. lol. I remember being is Soul, South Korea in 1998 and going into a leather shop and promptly being told in pantomime that they had absolutely nothing in my size. So, after much searching for the exact details, (Horsehide, made to WWII specs, Color, and finally USA made) I settled on a Cockpit USA A-2. Leather jackets of superior quality aren't for everyone. Cost is normally a huge factor for most but to be fair, many will only wear the jacket occasionally and wouldn't appreciate the attention to detail and quality that goes into a jacket at these price points anyway. Always comes down to if you can afford this, do you actually appreciate it for the price. Only one's personal decision will answer this question.

I bought a Taylor Stitch Long Haul jacket in duck canvas back when they were still made in the USA. I like it, however, it’s incredibly slim for its size. It’s a size 40 but fits like it was sized for a tiny asian guy. Small enough that now, (getting older) that it barely fits buttoned up. I balk at their prices now and am disappointed they moved 99% of their production overseas. You’re much better off going vintage for a decent motorcycle jacket, in my opinion. I have a phenomenal Lesco double rider from the 70s that is top notch, MITUSA, and the fit & finish is great. I’m also certain it was much less than modern offerings.

Moto jackets are a little passé though. We arrived at a point in time where we don’t need the zip-up cuffs and the double-zip chest pockets to look like we have style. For the money, I’d opt for the leather variant of the Baracuta G9. It offers a more classic look overall.

i have two of these jackets one in midnight blue and loden. a few years back you could get the price down by joining pre order along with a coupon or sale. got mine for around 8 hundred or 8 fifty. they are definitely warm which is why they are my go to winter riding jackets. the fit can be a little snug for a bigger fellow but the leather is pretty supple. the flannel lined pockets are a big help in the cold and the collar is pretty cool flipped up although i was skeptical at first. i suggest the look is understated and the design fits in exactly with what i need for riding. i had quite a few pieces from them when they produced gear in the usa including a nice Harris tweed chore coat, but wont support their offshoring. perhaps it just makes me more bitter when i watch someone abandon usa made after having started off so awesome.

Thanks for the review, not a lot out there. I also have the whisky and it is soooo different from the pictures online it boarders on false advertisement. That being said the jacket is truly great. A couple things I would change would be the sleeve length, I get why it’s longer, but as a 5’7” 200 (okay 215) lb guy I have to size up which means the sleeves go to my knuckles. And second I personally wish I would have gotten mine when they were doing the diamond quilted lining just because I don’t like loose lining that bunches in a slim jacket.
