Yes - great 95 from Scaz in the 2s and a good win for them. 3s won too. 1s is all a plot to keep the excitement to the end 😉 next week vs Kingstonians is key to survival.

One thing I noticed in 35 years of cricket is that top sides usually field their best team, or close to it, every week. Their players are committed and make themselves available. You notice this attitude more as you go up the divisions. Sanderstead has 2-3 of its better players out on a regular basis and it has proved costly.

unfortunately, many people have lives outside cricket. At the end of the day, its nothing more than a hobby and to take a whole day out 2 what is many peoples few days off a week is a lot to ask from people that have young families or simply want to do other things in the height of summer. It's hard, especially for those that turn up week in week out, but sometimes people simply have to make a choice and sometimes cricket isnt the choice they take

You make a very good point. Our firsts have suffered this season from exactly this attitude, which means that if the don’t pick up a win next Saturday, they will be relegated. They’ve brought it on themselves unfortunately.

@@jdodger1091 That's all well and good. Just don't expect to play in many successful teams or go scooting up the divisions if you're taking every third week off. Winning players and teams are disciplined and committed in a number of ways, and availability is one of them.

Liberty excellent points can’t believe how many players are not playing mid season.Certainly won’t get success and they need to find some more committed players so those that aren’t don’t get a game.

We've had exactly the same with our 2XI. Really positive start to the season and midway through just started losing people to holidays/work/moving house/babies. It's been a struggle. But 1s got promoted which was the goal.

Great stuff again Dan and commiserations to the boys. After last weeks phantom farter I'm struggling to find a 'highlight' here - the best I can do is the fielder (Jallen I think) chasing the ball to to boundary with one hand on his floppy hat to stop it falling off 😅

Hopefully, a few of the missing will be available next weekend and the games after. Cannot help to notice that a really good 5 per opening bowler is missing this season. Hopefully in, the close season Sanderstead can find their man. Some good players also coming through, but maybe not quite ready for mens cricket. Looking forward to the important game next weekend. A coupe of the lads stepped up to the plate but the couple of silly run outs did not help the cause Hopefully a better performance next week ! I know - I may have missed 1 game a season when playing 1st XI cricket (much to Mrs A’s displeasure!). But I guess modern life in a post-COVID world has introduced more complexities and opportunities to other things. Other than Div 1 and Prem clubs it is probably the norm going forward for players to miss 4 or more games a season.

Hi Dale. I made the same point a few weeks ago. Tyler looks desperately lacking in confidence. He’s becoming the Zak Crawley of Sanderstead I would also put Simon Carter up the order. 2018 was an all time high. We can still be at that level if/when we have full availability and no injuries. A lot of clubs are in similar positions as this is the first summer since lockdowns and people have lives beyond cricket. Also good youngsters coming through - we’ll be just fine.

Sad to say but Sanderstead 1XI looked very poor. Nice knock from Foaly at the end with Brothers as the high light. Unless there's a huge change around in performance it doesn't look like they will stay up.
