@@bloopbloop2019 I was wrong, apparently! A few days after my previous reply I found info regarding tweets from Nissan executives who stated that there was fan air cooling like their nv200 minivan but apparently it was a mistake. So the 62 kwh has structural and chemistry changes to better handle heat, but not fan. Toghether with its upgraded capacity, it apparently does pretty well (though not as well as liquid cooling). Maybe not the best choice for people who need to make frequent very long trips with multiple sequential fast DC charging in hot climates. If level 2 is used most of the time with some fast DC maxed at 80% it is a viable choice, a simpler design (no risk of catastrophic failure due to leaks, and lower costs of reparations).

Same here and its been that way for all generations of Leaf's. According to Nissan, its the only way to make the car as "cheap and affordable" as possible. When I want to buy a car, I want to own it for at least 10 years or more. With my 600+ mile a week drives for work, I would exceed the warranty and the car itself would be worth dirt with in a couple years due to my commutes. For short drives, this car will do it for alot of people. But for long commuters, not so much. I can't speak for the rest of the country, but where I live, I barely see any Leaf's on the road. But see plenty of Tesla's and Bolts and even though its not a full EV, I see hundreds of Prius's a day. Hopefully as the technology improves, the more affordable EVs will be and Nissan will eventually make a EV that has liquid battery cooling. Think for now, until that happens with all EVs becoming affordable, Hybrids and Plug In Hybrids is where at. I'd love to own a Kia Soul EV that gets the same range as a Kona.

I find it super hard to believe they sell 400k a year, smells like a lie to me. At that price point I’d have to put about 200k miles on that car before it made financial sense and that included the tax incentive and that’s if the battery lasted that 200k miles which it won’t. It used to be alright when the Leaf was all by itself as the only mass production EV. But now with all the competition around, it's very difficult to justify the price of this car. Here in the UK, a base *Leaf e+ Tekna* with a 62KWh battery will set you back £35,895! And if you tick a few of the options and accessories, (Propilot Park Assist, Ambient Lights, Bumper Protection, LED Fogs, Premium Design Pack), the price jumps to *£38,604.55* ! This is basically *Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus* money for a car with cheaper interior trim, less power, and less range. A base Model 3 Standard Range Plus without the Full Self-Driving Capability costs £38,900. And if you ask me, I would quietly say the Model 3 is better looking than the Nissan Leaf as well. You really need to be a staunch Nissan Leaf fan in order to be convinced to buy this car. If a fully loaded Nissan Leaf+ cost under £30,000, it would definitely be the car for the masses. And more drivers would most definitely consider it. But right now it's just too expensive for what it is. It is not value for money like it used to be at all. It's not surprising that Nissan Leaf sales are falling.

Is the Nissan Leaf more reliable than Tesla? I kind of like Tesla but I have heard they do not have the best reliability.
@HaydenCMH5 жыл бұрын
I’m a Tesla Model 3 owner, so take that for what you will, but the entire drivetrain and battery of the car is rated for over one million miles, and will most likely outlive the body of the vehicle. Most electric vehicles are extremely reliable, because they only have about 20 moving parts. I would say the Tesla is more reliable only because of the more advanced and larger battery in the car, ensuring a longer life of the battery itself. As you charge and discharge the battery, it degrades, just like a phone. Having a larger battery can minimize these effects. All-in-all, both vehicles are sure to last quite a while.
@pepstein5 жыл бұрын
Nissan Leaf has a bad track record for battery longevity. Of course this latest version is too new to know, but it's a big concern, as they continue to use passive air cooling for their battery packs, where Tesla and most others use active glycol liquid thermal management.

I’m certain a Leaf will outlast and be cheaper to own and maintain then a Tesla.

WhateverNevermind just look at TFL channel. For a fender and a rear glass is being a hassle. A leaf would be fixed within 3 days lol

Definitely if your a high mileage driver, most of the leaf last past 100k for the battery and it won't cost nearly 20k for a battery. Plus no giant wheels and tires, and exuberant dealer cost to fix things after the warranty.

I spent around $200 in the past year on maintenance for my Leaf, the largest expense being the 12V battery which is like every 4-5 years.

Battery longevity is the Leaf's Achilles heel. Tesla battery longevity is much better. Lack of active liquid thermal management for the battery pack is the elephant in the room. Other than that, the Leaf should indeed be cheaper to maintain.

Peter Epstein the 2018 and up Leaf has different batteries and battery management than the older ones. No one knows yet what the battery longevity will be. I do know a 2018 owner with over 52,000 in the harsh Phoenix heat, lots of rapid charging as an Uber, and battery health is 95%. The “rapidgate” slowed charging is all about protecting the battery. I’m in Florida and the passive cooling hasn’t been an issue for my 2018.

Waaaaaay better than the previous leaf I don’t hate this one. Would still for sure take a Tesla 3 though especially considering its only about 2k more

What I love about Sofyan is that no matter what he’s driving, he gives it the beans

I like the new Leaf but Nissan needs to step it up and fix rapid gate. Why does Nissan always stop short? This doesn’t even come close to a Tesla with V3 Supercharging or Ionity charging.

Quality over quantity!! You’ve called this an SL and SV many times in the video... views from trunk were very cloudy! I would rather see one video a week or every two weeks rather than misleading reviews!!

Are the batteries liquid cool or air cool?

Air

@@mazrezvani thanks for the reply.. that sucks for being air cool
@MrConor1595 жыл бұрын
Passive air cooling. Active air cooling in the Zoe and ioniq works fine. Passive air cooling causes issues.
@ramonhernandez38125 жыл бұрын
Nothing as good ,as liquid cool. My Chevy volt is constantly turn on the cooling cycle for the batteries even if my car is off. Here in florida summer days parked all day they get hot even not in use.

Sick of going to the gas pump. I want a economy electric just for commuting. ~50 miles a day round trip. This seems too cheap tho.. Not a nice place to be for a few hours every week..

At 8:56 you start talking about the e-pedal and pretty much everything you say about it's function is wrong! It is clear to me that you have never used it or read up on the e-pedal. With it you will not have to move your foot from the gas pedal to slow down or stop the car. When you gradually lift of the gas pedal the regen will engage, giving you regen gradually depending on how much you lift your foot, eventually stopping the car using the breaks so that you stand still. Please do your homework before a review. The e-pedal is one of the best driving features of the car and other brands have started to put e-pedals in their cars.

The reviews of the 2019 leaf for Europe have 360 cam when using the parking feature. No 360 cam at all or just in that mode? Europe only options? And I'm choosing the leaf because of the #epedal, it's legit a game changer and looks better than anything Tesla IMHO. Plus, I dont need fancy, I want easy, fun and reliable. Leaf all the way!
@Laptops17815 жыл бұрын
Maybe I'm in the minority here, but unless gas prices go to $10 per gallon, I wouldn't even consider an electric vehicle. I know they have many benefits, but I still enjoy filling my gas tank, getting the oil changed and just the sound an engine makes
@stephenhendricks1035 жыл бұрын
No accounting for taste, I suppose. Personally , "filling my gas tank (and) getting my oil changed" rank just above going to the dentist in terms of "enjoyment."
