I’m in the target demographic for this car. Old guy nearing retirement who wants to own an interesting gentleman’s GT car before they lock me up in a concentration camp (nursing home). I don’t know all that much about cars, but raced motorcycles into my mid 60s and rode a liter bike on the street to my late 60s. So I know that any poser GT cars would not make me happy. That they kept the exterior subtle (for a C8) is a strong point for me. I also like the AWD functionality since I live in the northeast and don’t want to put the car in hibernation for ~4 months a year when I don’t have that many years left. I won’t pay what Porsche asks for a comparably equipped AWD 911. I also won’t pay over MSRP for any car. If I can’t get an E-Ray then maybe an Audi RS3, but that might be even harder to get at MSRP.

bro, you're in colorado. The motor is being hit with a mile of elevation so only 160hp is not. Jason at Hagerty youtube (im sure you seen the vids) ran the Eray z06 and huracan. Easy 2.5 and 10.5's.

Supposedly the regular corvettes are below 65 thousand. I haven't seen any new or used below 75 thousand. The dealerships had them new for 100 thousand plus. This thing is probably over 120 thousand easey. You have to be rich for anything new these days. Only the rich get to enjoy these things.

I dunno you gonna see these at classic car shows in the future? Not sure this technology is meant for the long term like older cars are. Ev type things seem so wasteful to me since they seem disposable by design in addition to expensive and full of electronics.

Word has it that the ZR one is going to have the truck motor with twin turbos. So let’s hope that the Zora has the exotic LT six with electrification in the front. I would never call the pushrod small block a truck motor had you not invented the giant Ferrari motor that you put in the Z06. Now the pushrod motor is a truck motor. Not looking forward to the all electrified version what are you going to call it now that you call the hybrid E-Ray ? F! All electric! ICE ICE baby! The $50k-$60k Stingray is already out of reach for a lot of people. High performance sports cars are something you buy when you have money on top of being comfortable. What you get just depends on how much you have on top, as well as your personal taste, of course. I'm just glad this is $100k instead of $250k or more like what you see with Porsche, Lamborghini, etc.

@@bartwaggoner2000 Not arguing as the Miata is an excellent value, but I would not really put the two cars in the same category. Even though they are both sports cars the Miata, BRZ, and 88 are more value based sports cars. Then you get into the mid tier sports cars like the Supra, Nissan Z, BMW's... Then of course you have the Corvette, the Porsches, and maybe some of the Aston Martins etc. I guess it depends what exactly you are looking for from the car. The Miata is an excellent value, but people shopping Corvettes and Porsches are not looking at that level of sports car either.

If Chevy had made the Eray a mechanical awd and put the electric motor in the place of the transmission, it would have been a riot . And it should have had the 5.5 flat plane crank instead of the lackluster 6.2 . Chevy doesn't get it . Go all out instead of being modest all the time . Ramp up the quality control and innovation 💡

I purchased the Z06 for $240K. 5000 miles so far and the engine seized, brakes failed, had misfires and now the transmission is having problems. Its been in the shop for 12 weeks total and is still in the shop currently. I now have a lemon law attorney and will never buy a chevy again. I would avoid the eray if I were you.

Yeah I'm a tow truck driver and out of brand new cars the ones I tow the most have been Chevy's. Which is disappointing because Chevy has a lot of innovative ideas that might be interesting to see in action. Unfortunately their vehicles can't stay running enough to see them in action. Chevy's build quality has gone down drastically.

You completely miss the point of the car then. The electric motor is not meant to operate on it's own most of the time. It works as an assist to the gasoline engine. This makes it grip harder out of turns, launch harder from a dig, etc. There is plenty of reason for this car to exist and they nailed it. This was not built to be more economical, it was built to be higher performance while retaining the gasoline engine.

3.48 0-60 mph is not good at all. I do 3.1 over and over again in my Model 3 Performance and that is without subtracting rollout.

As they said *in the video,* ICEs take a big hit in power at altitude. The E-Ray is a primarily ICE-driven car. The electric motor helps, but it takes a serious hit when you're a mile in the air. Granted, full EVs don't have that problem, but go back to sea level and the E-Ray would walk your Model 3. Not a dig, just a fact.

If considering this as a hybrid is difficult for your brain, try thinking of the infiniti Q50. They had a hybrid model that used the ev motor for mainly performance with the electric benefits being an extra bonus. 360hp and drivable on ev mode up to 50-60mph.
