Big E will probably wake, hang around for an edition as a pale shadow of his former self, have to sacrifice himself to stop a galaxy threat from outside (Tyranids or whatever is coming after them) and goes back to sleep to maintain a barrier or similar. I personally think Russ is going to bring back some xenos tech/magic from an unknown race, who are the ultimate threat Big E needs to defeat, hopefully with more than the power of positivity.

Alternate methods: The biggest ork waaaagh ever would come to Terra and they would all collectively believe that da emprah is ready to wake up so he can tell them how to get to Angron to avenge Yarrick. All eldar harlequins would perform the most annoying performance beyong human comprehension in the throne room non-stop until big E would stand up to tell them to fuck off Tau added their technology expertise, advising to "turn it off and on" and it works. Tyranids figure out letting chaos unchecked is like purposely setting oven to burn all your food, so they derive the strongest sniffing salts in the universe, put it under his nose, then leave waiting for him to turn off the oven. The orangutan species bring some random crap they found in the trashbin, fix the throne with it, make it run on banana peels instead of emperor juice and refuse to elaborate, since they never talk.

The Golden Throne is said to enhance the power of any psyker who sits on it if they have the durability to survive it. If so, after ten thousand years he could power the astronomicon even while standing on the opposite side of the galaxy to the throne. Even before the heresy, he didn't have to sit on the throne to power the astronomicon

It's my theory that the Emperor being in limbo is the only reason the Imperium is losing. Because in 40k, prayer and believing something is powerful is a straight powerboost. Simply letting him go, would transform him into the single most powerful God in 40k, in the lore the Chaos Gods are scared of the Emperor dying because he could destroyed them all. His death would most likely cause a massive "Eye of the Emperor" zone in the Galaxy, where humans would be super mega buffed and their ships would be guided by the will of the Emperor (like Chaos does). Chaos couldn't survive in such environment. His death may trigger Terra's destruction, but Terra is just one planet.

​@@MichaelDavis-mk4meI think there's a pretty good reason Terra is so well-protected. I mean, the emperor wards off just about anything away from the sol system by his sheer consciousness. Then there's a bazillion soldiers and marines guarding the zone. Having multiple thousand custodes hanging around on the planet on top of it is, by all imperial power scales, complete, absolute, extreme overkill. And that's also where all their most precious and powerful relics and gear are located. There's gotta be much more to that apart from guarding the emperor and watching over the black cells. Idk, dark age of tech buffoonery, secret emperor stash of eldar feet pics, necron artifacts, but something else. Or just it being the most important relic of humanity.

If the Emperor becomes a God and blasts everyone, it's basically game over because every human world who pray the Emperor, the majority of the Galaxy, would become "Holy worlds" instead of "demon worlds" of Chaos, Chaos couldn't recruit because the Emperor would claim their soul similar to a Chaos entity, if not malevolent. Fans don't appreciate their universe just ending and GW can't just delete Chaos, people have bought miniatures for it. I guess they could have small Chaotic invasions even if the Imperium wins, but that's not exciting.

@@odst123451 We don't actually know if hes fine or not. One part of the lore say hes basically akin to a babbling infant as far as his connection and understanding to humanity is concerned. Another part says hes playing 15d backgammon and the scheming boy is playing 13d checkers thinking hes one move ahead of the emperor, while the emperor also sets fire to another gods garden as a party trick. The lore isn't very consistent on how the Emperors current state is.

Part of the problem is that there are so many retcons and plot holes such as the highlights of Terra a perfectly aware that killing him would send his soul away and he would come back either as a reincarnated person or is perpetual ability might kick in and he would start to come back to life. So they play dumb, and they are perfectly fine with keeping him in a state of limbo or else they would lose their power grip and the ability to command and Terra as they please. And then several years ago, there was a plot where there was a sub coat devoted to destroying or removing the emperor from the throne because they knew he would eventually regenerate as eldar used to before the warped became a horrific nightmare, reflecting everybody’s worst parts of themselves and now they have a chaos card that literally grabs there souls and of our them before they can even make it to the war in order to come back reincarnated. And there’s also another supply regarding the star child which I don’t have enough knowledge to speak or have an intelligent conversation about it other than he was able to take part of his soul hide it somewhere. This was all prior to the great rift and great psychic awakening that suddenly awakened the Emperor to a degree by entering peoples minds, which I assume takes a lot of power which is a blessing and a curse that the great rift used to be the eye of Terra. And I find it hard to believe that we won’t have at least one dead character come back from the heresy because it just happens in every story and there are so many famous characters that they could bring back potentially even Melador or The Primark of the iron hands simply because it’s a chapter that doesn’t get much attention and it doesn’t really get anybody. Excited whenever you bring them up. Plus This is 10th edition where it doesn’t matter which chapter you choose unless it’s a divergent chapter so playing iron hands literally provides no special abilities or chapter traits and tactics like we used to get which I think is one of the worst parts of 10th edition. We really do need some kind of subtraction system because right now it just feels like these detachments were created in order to duplicate fractions from ninth edition without being tied to a particular color scheme which I think is BS because you could’ve done that and just said the same thing. It also doesn’t help that it only two armies I currently play are Necrons which GW has been constantly tweaking and changing and taking things away ever since their book launched and then I said to myself well at least I have my dark angels. And then that whole lunch and range refresh, which barely was a refresh… turned out to be worse than the Necron problems which were related to constantly having points increased, and several data sheets were taken away that the faction now has less data sheets than it did in ninth edition… and we still have 2 resin C’Tan which were the same models I used almost 20 years ago When I a briefly played Necron. The second worst part of 10th edition is, I was really looking forward to getting into my space maroons for once and I have a particular favorite, which is Ezekiel and the angels psychic discipline was called Interromancy which had access to six psychic abilities that were used not only to Deal damage, but they also were able to remove an aura from a target enemy unit, they had to spell that could stop the second row of attackers from participating in the fun phase, And since Ezekiel is the master librarian of the dark angels plus anybody would’ve assumed he was second in line to being updated for a new model after Asrael… but for some reason, even though GW moved a shit load of DA data sheets, while simultaneously reducing the power level of the one they decided to keep, they made a lot of swings, and Mrs. based on their special abilities, gained from having either the Ravenwing keyword or the Deathwing keyword. By the way, both keywords have completely different systems on how the keyword is applied, which is only used when using data sheets from the space burn vanilla book such as Ravenwing requires data sheets that have the mounted keyword or vehicle with fly. My gripe is that every single Ravenwing unit printed in the DA supplement has a 5+ plus built into their data sheet with no explanation and why other Ravenwing units taken from the space room book don’t get it such as the storm speeders that replaced all of our land speeders… Also, it doesn’t help that the Ravenwing attachment literally has barely any units left over after the culling. This Basically left ravenwing left with almost no characters and zero character Captain equivalents that have rights of battle to reduce any CP like every space marine attachment does. We literally have just Samuel, who is the master of the Ravenwing and for some reason he is not able to offer any CP reduction on strategies, but he does give his unit the ability to advance shoot and charge during the same time in addition to his plasma canon and his sword that is Loaded with six attacks with sustained hits two which makes him a monster in combat. After him, we have the Chapin on bike and although I personally think he’s a good character that outriders really needs considering how much they changed from ninth edition to now. Prima outriders in the prior edition had all these bonus attacks when they charged and I believe they were able to shoot while they were charging it and then they gained +2 attacks using their chains swords and it was an extremely fun unit, but unfortunately, they completely neutered them so now that they feel like a normal space burn on a bike except they have no choices for any specific weapon loadouts unless you include being able to add one ATV to the unit and another three outriders to max up the squad, which turns out to be eight models in a single unit of outriders if you include the Chaplin. The ATV I think for me if I were to play Ravenwing, which was the plan, I would have taken two max units of outriders with ATV attached to each the Melta gun, and there is an enhancement that you can give to a raven character that basically is an exact duplicate of what Samuel gives his unit out turbo boost for an automatic 6 inch advance as there driving 18 inches towards their charged target and then make a charge receiving a plus one to wound from the chaplain and prior to that you got your target within 12 inches or any target within 12 inches in your entire unit arranged they gain devastating wounds. at first this doesn’t seem like a great or cool ability but then when you look at every single data sheet in the units, they all have access to 2 twinlinked rifles. This includes the chaplain and the ATV which I wasn’t made aware of until a few months ago. They have the same bolters and the assault Cannon, which is 24 inches and always has devastating moons turned on which is why I take ATVs in the out rider squad with a Melta gun, sense if he can get within 9 inches and 12 inches, there bolters on the ATV would gain Dev wounds up to 12 inches away and there Melta gun game a D6 +2 damage with two range tax with the possibility of rolling a critically wound trigger Dev wounds rolling a damage value of a D6 +2 potentially ignoring every save mechanic in the game except feel no pain. So literally all eight of the models in the units have twin links bolters allowing all eight models a chance to fish for DAE Woundd, and then the entire unit would gain plus one to wound after they charged the target and then you could fall back and shoot on the next turn, which is the detachments special ability. The last Ravenwing character was literally a Band-Aid because they realized they were only two potential characters to choose from. So they cleverly decided to leave the Ravenwing command squad alone except for some positive changes, which were giving the champion, the character keyword and the leadership ability giving him access to leading units of black nights or outriders, but I think they synergize better with black Knight because the black Knight transfer their bonus versus vehicles and monsters on the charge phase if they were a successful charge. They got to keep the apothecary which will bring back one black night each command phase and they also have an ancient giving the entire unit plus one OC on top of their natural OC characteristic. So that’s all you get for characters in the company of hunters. There outriders are not great at the moment and require a little boost when it comes to being able to actually kill stuff and you also still get to pick the dark shroud which is a land speed unique to the dark angels that gives all friendly units cover saves, and stealth For a pretty affordable price transition using it as a land speeder vengeance unless you’re turned off by their Nerf plasma cannons, which used to three damage when it was overcharged and is now down to two damage for 140 points also both aircraft have 5++, which is actually interesting on the Nephilim jet fighter because it has a natural minus one to hit and it can gain a minus one to be wounded if it’s and attacked by ranged weapons from models that can fly. It has a 3+ armor save and it also benefits from the 5++ 195 points you have a plane that is minus one to hit minus one to be wounded and has an invulnerable save in addition it has access to the hover ability. If you want to just have a model that can move up to 20 inches instead of being required to move 20 inches. It also is no longer considered aircraft. It says loses abilities related to it being an aircraft so when I went over the data sheet, there were no abilities that said rules are tied to being since that is no longer a universal rule. And that is company of hunters…

In 40k, there is a concept i find quite interesting. Psychic cannibalism. Imagine being a psyker and out of nowhere in a deep hive getting consumed by another psyker. The next morning you wake up as if nothing has happened. But somthing is different. Your height, eyecolor and so many other things. Your movements are off, as if sometimes controlled by some one else. And some intrusive thoughts become irresistable. Slowly you gain memories you never had. Wishes you never wished. You suddenly know names you never learned, friends you never met you start to miss. And the psyker who consumed you? He feels the same, he too loses himself slowly. Now imagine you repeat this process twice, thrice in the thousands every day for thousands of years. It is madness. The emperor is as good as ded, if not worse.

My personal fan theory/fiction: Constantine Valdor is trying to resurrect Sanguinious. He has blood Angels with actual wings, which proves he's experimenting with Sanguinious's D.N.A and probably trying to create a suitable vessel for his soul. The Grails are (if I'm not wrong) warp entities put in the body of blanks, so Valdor is also experimenting with putting warp entities in mortal bodies. Combined with these facts, he is probably finding a way to create a suitable vessel for Sanguinious and put his soul back in his body Sanguinious after returning from the dead would know something about the Star Child. He will reunite the Star Child with the Emperor. The fusion between the Star Child & Emperor will make him whole again and powerful enough to awaken.

In classic 40k fashion, Games Workshop will try to make us believe that one invincible goober would even matter in combat in a world with thousands of planets. His leadership would be the only thing that matters. That's like when 40K says 4 space marines can take a planet. Even real life Earth would be impossible to take by 4 guys, even if they fight all day, their enemies all nicely walking into melee range, offering no resistance, waiting to be struck down, they couldn't dent Earth's population. What would really happen, is that the Emperor, or those Space Marines, would simply eat every single shell of artillery and tanks, planes would bomb them, a billion drones would slam into them.

I think it is possible. Remember the Dark Eldar have tried to clone the Emperor for their version of the Throne. The Necrons have been experimenting with Space Marines to build flesh bodies capable of housing their restored souls. Cawl has the Alpha - while Bile has told us is an experiment FAR more vast than a simple Primaris Marine prototype. Consider how much sheer power Alpha has. The pieces are all there. The Eldar faction who helped bring back G. Trazyn has good relations with the Imperium, for a Necron. And we know the Silent King has worked with Sanguinius and he has some sort of relations with G. You talked about the technology to upgrade the Golden Throne. Add to being able to seal the webway breach and the upgraded throne - the Necrons have the technology to upgrade or even replace with Astronomicon with the Pharos. Combining the far better reliability of the Pharos with the power of the Astronomicon could allow the E to save more power. And there is one more thing - a power source. There is one powersource the Necrons would know how to use. A rather superpowered one - the Void Dragon. If that one is master of the Materium and the originator of blackstone - they could possible release the emperor entire by using the shards of the Void Dragon to power the throne. So the hints are all there in the lore, but it would take cooperation such as a mass invasion of Nids Sometthing that might even bring Bile and the genetics the Alpha Legion keeps stealing back into the fold to save everything.

Here's some to consider: What if all of the Primarchs (save Alpharius because he landed on Terra) somehow died before the Imperium discovered them? (Assume that Vulkan was never found by the Imperium, maybe he was lost in the Warp, maybe the DE got a hold of him, maybe he’s in Trazyn’s galleries, etc). The important thing is, what if no Primarchs? If any one Loyalist and Traitor Primarch switched sides for the Horus Heresy, who would you choose for the best outcome for either the Loyalists, or the Traitors? What if the Silent King never got rid of his Command Protocols and took (almost) all the Necrons with him out of the galaxy to perhaps find a new and better one and come across the Tyranids? What if the Great Crusade had all the Primarchs and none turned Traitor, but there were no Astartes? What if the Beast Orks succeeded in defeating the Imperium? What if the Raptor Project succeeded/was never sabotaged? How would each Heresy/Crusade-era Primarch and Legion fare against the modern Tau Empire? What if one of the Primarchs landed on a xenos world and was raised by them? What if the Eldar managed to kill Angron before he was enslaved? What if another power rose to power during M31 instead of the Imperium, such as the Ullanor Orks, the Rangdan, or the Necrons via the Silent King returning early? If the nids show up early shit hits the fan pretty bad for the imperium, not only would the forces be scattered but they would not realize the True nature of the threat before the heresy would still happen with the loyalists being even more distracted, I could see the emperor dying and chaos winning,among other scenarios. I actually think of an idea for a potentially epic book series on reviving the emperor would be to 1. Find a way to Seal up the hole in the webway on the golden throne, 2. Travel across the galaxy to find the many shards of the emperor’s mind in which we could maybe see glimpses of who he was before forming the imperium and perhaps even a few things during the great crusade that wasn’t mentioned before, and 3. Find a way to put all those shards of his mind back together so the Emperor can truly be back to full form.

Even if its put back together, the emperor might not come back whole. Your mind shattered and being in a deathless state for ten thousand years will break anyone and the emperor might be more a threat to the the imperium than its saviour 2) As much as the church can be horrible at times, its arguably the only thing keeping the imperium together using the faith of the God Emperor. Not only that but that same faith is powering the emperor which in turn creates saints, causes mircles and helps the emperor fight off the chaos gods. Get rid of the church and your shooting yourself in the foot. He is far more powerful than he ever was back then as he has practically become a god.

It feels almost like his body is an anchor, both weighing him down, yet keeping him stable. If his body does, the spirit may become the next Warp God. Which may not be as good for the imperium as it sounds, or could be a human super boost. At the end of the day I don't see the ever healing the emperor, he's their ultimate will they won't they.

Here's an idea for the writers who want to bring back the BigE into the setting: The corpse E should just make a copy of him, made from his shard. yes, this will mean that the BigE or the ShardE would be weaker, but that would make that version a much more enjoyable read. because that version would not be a plot device. It should be like 3-5% of the full BigE's power, which is still way powerful than any other Primarch or Trator Primarch. the CorpseE would still exist trap in the throne. it's just like God summoning Jesus. ehh? ehh???? It's been directly confirmed that the Emperor at least thinks he'd be able to resurrect perpetual style if killed on the throne, but does not believe it is the right time yet. Cypher invaded the imperial palace with the intent to kill the Emperor, and was dissuaded when one of the custodes delivered a two word message to him from the Emperor's mental messaging system, "Not Yet."

If the Emperor could convey just how he came to be, they could prepare a replacement. Have the a decent family raise little E, protected by Custodes, Big E could occasionally psychically provide guidance and when the time comes, the Emperor could impart the remainder of his power upon the new Emperor and finally die as his replacement takes the throne and properly seals the breach the demons would come through.

Another possibility to revive the emperor would be for the Empire and the Eldar to join forces and rescue Isha from Nurgle (this could also be used to bring back one more Primarch or redeem one) and then Isha, as a sign of thanks, heal the emperor from his wounds. That way, he is fully conscious, but still bound to the throne and that way we avoid from changing the status quo too much.

I do think that Valdor will attempt to invert the Imperial Palace onto Queen Mab via the City of Dust. As in, flip the entire palace into the warp (City of Dust, Valdor's hangout spot) then flip it back onto realspace on Sancour. This would likely stop the flow of demons at the webway portal, allowing the Emperor to potentially leave the throne or heal. Astronomicon is fucked, but with a living E + Enuncia Valdor they could just build another. If the Yellow King is in fact Lorgar or Basilio Fo or some other kooky character then ignore all previous statements.
