The LS-208 is one of my favorite microphones in my collection. The various switches make it so versatile.

Sounds punchy and clear, love the idea of the rejection for less treated rooms. I’m missing some low end though maybe it’s just me acclimating to the sound.

For sure you can definitely take the HPF off and get way more low end, but for what I do, it's all about the intelligibility and detail of the midrange and all that low end is counterproductive for the most part.

Here’s the truth Mark; The more I listen to it, the more I’m falling in love with your versatility in switching and rendering every kind of VO genre; effortlessly, eloquently and proficiently. You are so good with your nuances that you could pretty much make any microphone sound great! So, how am I to give credit to the LS 208 !? 😉 Ps; its less about the Mic and more about the person working it.

Thank you very much, Gary! Thank you for your kind words and analysis. Good point! I think the fact that you felt that it seems “effortless” is a testimony to how well the mic gels with my voice. Hearing my voice so clearly when I’m cutting helps me better lean into those nuances. My instrument does do all the heavy lifting. But what I’m always looking for in a mic is something that supports it fully to take it across the goal line. Often what makes the difference is very subtle, but every single percentage point of gain increases the margin for victory.

The mic sounds really nice. Interesting that it is designed for less than ideal conditions, it might be good for podcasting, better than a dynamic mic?! I like the end address as well, although they do make a side-address version of it as well.

Hi Curtis! I think for sure you could replace a dynamic with it for podcasting and get a much better recording. The 308, I was told, was really voiced for drums and probably wouldn’t be the better choice for voice.

I did some testing on this versus some other condensers and some dynamics and the dynamics definitely picked up the released rumor noise when I was recording in a non-treated hallway, if you eat a dynamic mic it picks up very little of that reverb, if you're about two to three fingers away from this it didn't do quite as good as the dynamic but pretty darn close I mean next best thing, should send more detail to

It’s actually just going into the MT-48. No EQ. No channel strip.

I'm guessing you have the 10 kkz cut off engaged, I might use mine in quite a while, I think I might get that out in do some stuff on my gaming channels with this one again, I really do like this Mike a lot and the phone keeps typing up Mike incorrectly, that damn phone I'm telling you it's out to get me

I actually don’t have the 10k LP on, I’m running it wide open with the 50hz HP on. I love all the extra detail it brings up to around 14k-ish. Keep one eye open on that phone. It’s just waiting for you to go to sleep… and then… BAM!

Thank you! As someone who only now records only VO, I can’t really say what would work for OH’s. I wouldn’t sleep on the Line Audio CM4’s. Great flat response and they’re ridiculously affordable if you can get them. Or maybe the Se 8.

it seems to take much less issue with your booth environment than the neumanns. i like it. it needs some slight eq in the high end but other than that
