I just commented on a podcaster that was holding their Shure Mv7. It was so cringe to me 😂 At that point might as well get a sm58 or similar mic that's meant to be held. Anyway, good video and I'm looking to get this mic for my studio soon

Yeah I feel the same way when I see that! Or when people are talking into the top of a side-address mic. But that’s another story… Thanks for watching and let me know how you like the LS-208!

Great stuff! I'm considering a Lauten mic for voice. Excellent sound and the kinda hybrid dynamic condenser thing is great. I mostly record in an untreated room. Not super verby and reflective but I pretty much used dynamics only until recently. Cheers

The LS-208 allows you to get close, which is a big help when dealing with untreated rooms. It's one of my all-time favorite mics. Thanks for watching!

Hey man, this Mic seems stellar. I have an SE Dyncaaster dcm8 and I’m thinking about possibly picking one of these up in the future. How does the Dynacaster stack up to this mic? Like sound wise and versatility wise. I’m mainly curious about this because I know the SE Dynacaster also has an extended frequency response. It makes me wonder if it can sound similar to this mic on one of the settings

It's a great mic! It's probably the one I use most for my videos these days. I love the DynaCaster as well, but it's a different sound. The DynaCaster handles plosives better, but the LS-208 handles transients better and has a smoother high end response (but is also brighter). Really, I'd be happy with either mic for voice work.

I got the LS-208 since my room treatment is a work in progress. What would you say is the best filter switch settings for my needs Matthew? I'm a little confused in regards to Hz vs khz.
@MatthewHaines10 ай бұрын
The switch on the left (Hz) is the low frequencies and the one on the right (kHz) is the high frequencies. Neutral is when both switches are set to HP and LP. If you're using this on voice, try setting the low frequencies to 50 Hz. This will reduce anything below 50 Hz, but won't effect frequencies found in the human voice. It will help with plosives and pops. If you set it to 120 Hz, you might notice a thinning of the sound. (But try it!) I generally leave the high end at neutral, but if you're wanting a warmer, vintage sound - in other words, less bright, try setting it to 10 kHz or 8 kHz (8 being more extreme).

How did you make this mic sound good? What did you do? Like there's clarity, I generally don't like how it sounds, it sounds like very far away and lack details and intelligibility. I don't know how to explain. But it sounds decent on you.
@MatthewHaines Жыл бұрын
Well I haven't heard how you've used the mic, so I can't say for sure. But like most mics, they sound better when you get closer. I'm never more than a couple of inches (5 cm) from this mic in the review. It's a nice-sounding mic IMO!

if you cant make the LS 208 sound good then its for sure your technique. I use one for pro VO and audiobooks every day all day and it sounds superb and all my clients adore my sound. I do nothing to it. I dont even EQ in post.

what do you think: (c01u pro) or (se x1a)? for music and vocals
@MatthewHaines11 ай бұрын
Hi! I have not used the Samson mic unfortunately. The sE X1A is a great all-rounder mic and is my top pick for a mic in the sub-$100 range (so far).
