Today we are looking at the new generation of G-Shock Rangeman
GPR-H1000-1 which, by my calculations is the the Smartest Gshock ever made. So hope you enjoyed this episode, I personally did :D Andrei.

I have Rangeman too (GW-9400-3) for almost 8 years now. Solid watch, exposed to many condition, banged & fall millions time, left alone inside watch box because I have new Gulfman :D. Still a solid watch. For me, the feature of Tough Solar from Casio are the one that make Rangeman better than the others (dont wanna bring powerbank for my watch). Beside, you can beat the hell out of G-Shock and it will be fine after that. IMHO Stiil eyeing the GPRB1000 btw.

I've had my Rangeman for several years and there are many features I like - it is robust, the solar function is awesome, as is the compass, barometer, and altimeter but for some features, my watch has to be sync/paired with my smart phone. Looking for a watch that offered all the features I needed and didn't need to paired with my smart phone, I picked the Garmin Tactix Bravo. It is a great watch and whenever I needed to have navigation features, it is the watch I wore. As a gift for my 2023 Appalachian through hike, I got the Garmin Fenix 7X Sapphire and that watch was just awesome. It worked perfectly for the entire 2198 mile hike and I'm still wearing it. I do on occasion jump back to my Rangeman, but for a watch that can pretty much do anything i needed on that hike, I would pick the Fenix 7X. This new Rangeman looks awesome - I'm going to definitely check out the solar and navigation features, and who knows I have a birthday coming up.

An expensive, "outdoor" watch that does not support even simple version of navigation like for example in Garmin Instinct or even cheaper Amazfit T-rex 2 is a BIG SHAME. It has a compass. You can do navigation if you can read a map. I have two Casio G-Shocks. One is from 1990. It's been to Desert Storm; Somalia, and a bunch of Army schools. It still works to this day. It's never needed an "external charge." The damn thing just keeps going. I bet my Garmin Fenix 7 won't last anywhere near that long.

So what makes it better compared to a similarly-sized and similarly-sized Garmin Instinct 2X Solar? Genuine question. IDK, maybe it’s not glued together and you won’t have to throw it away after the internal battery deteriorates? Wanted to learn answers but they weren’t there. P.S. I wore regular quartz Casios, then Apple Watches when they appeared, finally switched to an Instinct 2 because Apple Watch is too power hungry to survive hikes.

Thats amazing, I just wish it had come out a decade ago. Feature wise it has a lot to catching up, especially to Garmin. Not only does the base Fenix 7 have higher accuracy and many more features, it does that and manages to get close to one month (with everything on). If you start to turn off features and dumb down the watch, you can get it to damn near one year.

And all the functions work so well, leave alone Garmin connect which is awesome. I love the Garmin, so glad I bought it and funny thing is it all started because I was looking for gshock with MIP display and German date format. Guess what there isn't any. He Casio, switching the date format is probably 5 lines of code, but Casio is stubborn, they ignore customers whishes. Garmin of course can do that, plus complete localization and so much more. I was deployed on the Stennis in 2016 when I broke down and bought a G Shock after many failed endeavors with watches at the similar price point. I was stoked when to my surprise they had some super special military edition. The day we went under way I looked at my watch and it read 0100 Jan 1 2012. The radar from the boat kept knocking it out. From that day I wrote it off. I bought a seiko after that (the one from the equalizer) because it had an awesome barometer on it. (Very useful for where I was stationed). But as I would stare at it I knew I needed more functionality, so I got my hands on a garmin instinct. Almost overwhelming functionality. Then one day I saw a pilot with a brand new Fenix 6S. I waited a year and I finally bought one which I still wear every. Single. Day. When I look at this G Shock and see that it’s pretty much their stab at an instinct I still feel vindicated for switching to garmin and leaving the g shock behind.

When I buy a Rangeman I expect it to work as an independent machine. I want to have triple sensor (minus thermometer-it is stupid),atomic clock sync, solar power ,large battery and a sapphire glass would be nice-considering the price point. It is an outdoorsman’s watch. What I DO NOT NEED are: sporty options, Bluetooth and apps on my phone that need to talk to it. It is not supposed to be a runny ,swimmy or a climby watch. If I am outdoors and I am running or swimming in a ‘sporty way’ then there better be a polar bear on my ass or a playful hippo trying to rip off my leg. Let the sporty fellows have their apps, their Garmins etc. and we will have our Rangeman- the toughest watch. So no- I am not buying this bauble. Besides, it gets so power hungry when using its features ,I hear, that it runs out of power pronto. You want to put on a stupid hat of solar power cells just to power up GPS of this watch? If you do,wait up. I’ll write a large D on it. You know what it stands for.

I wanted to get a beefier one for hiking and such again, but I had wanted to wait for a possible Instinct 3, or this watch here.

Great review, so nice to see a watch outside the light box 😁. I can see the appeal, but too large and bulky for me and the battery life is too short when used for its purpose.

I just miss that _Casio_ will improve their functions and not be so dependant on the smartphone. I mean, I own a _Mudmaster_ (I like that brutalist style) and understanding that idiosyncratic compass and configuring the thermometer can be outdoors for long time. So, if that compass weren't so harsh, the altimeter so vague and barometer so slow to capture the data, will be a great watch. I think that they have so much to learn from _Suunto_ and _-Garmin-_ like their apps and navigation. The best feature of _Casio_ by far is the water resistance and I think that the solar charge is a must have in the industry.

Finally with GPS, solar panel and sensors. I think this model is arriving too late to the market, Garming and the titanium models from Huawei have a very competitive alternatives. Still too big and chunky to my taste, but nice job Casio, I think they will sell even more units because this docureview! Be Brave! 🤛

Guys, I am 5'4, 135 lbs, and size 28 waist. I have a 5.5 inch wrist. I wear a tight fitted suit to work everyday. Would this look good on me? Think I'll have any issues getting it under the cuff? Thanks!

No. This ricecooker doesn’t look good on your wrist. Fenix 7S probably fits your wrist better.

Is there any review regarding the watch’s accuracy in collecting health data? It would be, for me, a big factor to go for brands that offer excellent or high data accuracy.

My main problem with smart watches is constantly releasing new models. That's what drew me to Garmin. Seems like even Garmin is starting to go a little crazy. I don't know how anyone else feels, but I don't like spending a bunch on a watch and a couple months later or sooner , they are already pushing the next model. That's what made me think about getting a gshock.

I have my Garmin fenix 7 pro more than 4 years. I made race, workout, diving with it and still works perfectly. The watch itself updates and also the app, so no need at all to buy a new watch every year.

I used to rock gshock since the 90s. My last one had limited smart function and surf and exercise functions. I upgraded to a garmin that I got on sale for 300. It's solar has alll these functions as yours and also one thing I may never able to go without anymore. In led light that can go between red or white. And it's waterproof to like 150 meters. Bruh. The fenix would blow this and yours away.

Ive tried a lot of watches but there's simply no better replacement than the Apple Watch Ultra. The only thing that i could say is that the Garmin offers a more precise HR detection, and that it sensor picks up more frequent readings vs the Apple Watch Ultra. And that my Garmin offered a 20 day battery cycle vs the 3 day on Apple Watch Ultra but this is a choice you have to make because the screen, volume, sensors etc require more power to run. Ive tried many watches from Samsung galaxy, Huawei, Polar, FitBit, Garmin etc... And even if i didn't try out this watch, i can already say with confidence that this watch isn't any match for my Ultra. My watch has a dive computer, Altimeter, ECG reading, O2 sensor, has voice to text functionality to respond to text messages, has an e-sim, can play music from Spotify or Apple music, has built in warnings if your HR is irregular, has remote viewing for the phone camera and can control the camera directly, can call an ambulance automatically in a car crash, has siri to control everything you need....

Apple watch is a smartwatch or a phone on your wrist, Garmin is a dedicated sports computer. You wont see any elite athletes opt for an apple watch over Garmin. I cant imagine how horrid it is to have to charge one more appliance every 2,3 days.
@JerryDoe
@JerryDoe 19 күн бұрын
@@Psysso Perhaps, but Apple Watch has a more accurate overall functionality. Few things for example you wont see with Garmin: - Alerts you when you have an irregular heartbeat. - Detects early symptoms of various heart issues and even a stroke. - Has a better automatic tracking on sleep, power naps, type of exercise etc... - Informs you on specific changes of your condition such as breaths taken per minute during sleep, O2 levels, lowest heartbeat during sleep/rest which is handy if you want to know if you are gaining or losing condition. I do lots of sports and have used mostly Garmin, one of the annoying things of sport watches is they do a bad job of what they are designed for and that's even worse then 3 days battery life. Apple Watch (Ultra) does about everything better except for the small inaccurate HR but at the end of the day it did keep a better record of all my activities. Having a 20 day battery with a watch that can't even track your activities throughout the day is just worse. Even Garming sells specific watches for specific sports they aren't fit for it. Another downside of buying several Garmin watches is availability and accessories, in my country the Garmin Quatix and Garmin Fenix cost twice as much and can't find accessories for it unless online. Warranty is also out of the question as there isn't a service center in my country. The only shops that sell them have imported the watches from the US and only offer a limited 3 month period because of that.

Great video !!! . I learned a lot about the watch but sadly this watch doesn’t even come close to my tactix 7 pro . Running all of the sensors and stuff on the watch I still get 37 days not to mention if all of that is turn off and the watch set to watch only mode will last up to 1 year. I’m a big fan of Casio just honestly it doesn’t compare to Garmin but great video otherwise.!!

As nice as g-shocks are, servicing is a problem in my country. First thing to give usually is the strap... Man, it's hard to get OG straps. It always takes a few months because all the parts are on order since they don't stock them because of the high number of models. It's nice they kept the digital dial... MoG series should always be digital. Too bad for the new frogman.
