Can the RTX 3060 play the latest games at 1440p in 2025?

@@theivadim Excellent 1080p card. However, I feel as if its days in 1440p AAA games are limited. I worry even about my 3080 Ti running out of VRAM at 1440p. Very interested to see what DLSS 4 will do for the 20 and 30 series GPU's. New FSR too... looking good for gamers in my opinion.

Thank's for testing, the only one youtuber that provides really worth information. What would you say about RX 7600XT compared to 3060/12 and 4060? Wiht and without raytracing.

I think DLSS 4 gives the RTX 3060 a second life, while FSR 4 doesn’t work on the RX 7600 XT. However, at this point, I’d rather buy a used RTX 3080 or 3080 Ti, or wait for the RTX 5060 to arrive.

@@FarhanAhmod-mv1nj At the moment, it's only available in game settings in Cyberpunk 2077 and Alan Wake 2. I think NVIDIA will unlock DLSS override from NVIDIA App on January 30 when the RTX 50 cards officially launch. Some games will get updates to allow switching between DLSS 3 and 4 in-game while in others you'll have to use override in NVIDIA App.

it hurts to know the monitor can hit such high frame rates yet the card cant push hard enough. hoping for frame regen rumors to be true soon. While I wait, I'm trying to figure out what part to upgrade first: monitor (MSI 271QPX) or GPU to a 5070 ti. I'm still on 8gb of VRAM

None of these options are fantastic-each has a major flaw. The RTX 3060 is a bit weak for 2025, the RTX 4060 lacks enough memory, and the RX 7600 XT has terrible resolution upscaling (FSR). You’ll have to choose the issue that bothers you the least and live with it. Alternatively, wait a bit longer to see what next-gen GPUs will be like in terms of specs. FSR 4 looks promising and it'll work on RX 9000 only. RTX 5060... I've no idea what to expect from it. I won't be surprised if NVIDIA gives it 8GB of memory again.

I really enjoy your style of review, but PLEASE bring (back) a few other games, that are better optimized or even older, into your tests. I'd love to see Helldivers 2, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Cyberpunk 2077, TheHunter: Call of the Wild, A Plague Tale: Requiem, DCS World... I'm sure that you are perfectly aware that many of the new AAA titles are horrendously optimized, overprized and most gamers don't meet their system requirements. Testing a GPU in Stalker 2 or Path of Exile 2 is like test driving a racing car in a traffic jam because of an ongoing construction site.

I hear you. Thanks for your support and viewership! I might consider doing a special episode with a deeper dive into individual GPUs where I include more games, including the older ones. However, the whole point of this video series is to evaluate how GPUs perform in the latest games, which is why I’m showcasing these specific titles.

I understand your testing in context to the title of your video, and I'm all for clickbaity titles if they bring you a million subscribers, which I hope you'll get. I have subscribed since the first video I have seen of yours, and am always happy when I see the thumbnail of your new upload in my youtube feed. Your personal opinion on visual quality combined with playing around in the settings with upscaling and frame generation, the unique camera angle, are always interesting to me. But I really have to calm myself down each time you start POE2 or Stalker 2. At this moment those games just don't tell anything meaningful about hardware in my opinion. I have played Path of Exile 2 with my old GTX 1070 and everything is all over the place, doesn't matter which settings I try, with the use of Lossless Scaling or without, this game is an absolute mess in terms of stability. I know that I am not your first viewer to ask for other games to be tested. I really like your testing, but the choice of games drives me up the wall sometimes. Usually I try not to write any comments on youtube, but I really wish for new entertaining content from you in the future that gives me more useful information about hardware, software and optimizing game settings. No need to dive much deeper, you're doing just fine, simply change/add a couple of games that are better optimized please.

Like you said previously with FSR; "Why put yourself into this?". Similar to unoptimized games as well, why would you do that to yourself. You better bring back some good older titles that are actually much fun to play like Alan Wake 2, Space Marine 2, Hellblade 2 and The First Descendant instead of sloppy optimization mess. Those kinda game is not 3060 specific but even sultan setups also struggling so the point become pointless. 🤧🥲

@@violinbubi Indeed, PoE2 has a long way to go before it becomes a truly pleasant game to play. Performance has to improve. We can't be having FPS drop by 50% just because of using skills to kill enemies.🙂

Has Nvidia ever explained why the 4060 only has 8gb? 8gb is a major downgrade from 12gb. Why would they do something like this? Besides that. the 4060 is not much faster than the 3060.

Claiming that the 4060 can't run above low settings is an outright lie. You can easily set textures and shadows to medium and keep everything else on ultra without any issues.

i just bought this card not to long ago had it for about a week coming from playing on a gtx 1050 mobile to a 1650 mobile to a rtx 3050 ti laptop gpu to having a 2060 super to the rtx 3060 gpu 12gb i like this card but from what people saying about it i feel like i made a mistake purchasing this card imma probably go for the rtx 2080 ti..

I wonder how DLSS 4 will improve performance on these older cards. Considering all RTX cards will get it. Also there are rumors that the 3000 series will also get frame generation. That would no doubt boost the longevity of the RTX 3060 12gb. Also question about the case you are using in this build. It looks like a Bequiet Light Base 500 LX. How is your experience with the case when it comes to noise and thermals? It is one of the cases I'm considering for a new PC I want to build myself this year.

So far, I only tested it in Cyberpunk but in terms of performance the new DLSS transformer model is worse than CNN model. I got roughly 23% fewer FPS using the RTX 3090. But the image quality DLSS 4 provides is superior in every way. There is more testing to be done before drawing a conclusion.

@theivadim Ah well I had hoped for more fps too but I suppose the better image quality does mean that running on DLSS performance will also look better. Thank you so much for these videos. Much better than videos that only show benchmarks.
