Just a small point the plastic cap off the seat belt mount that was missing probably came off because the seat back rest catches it when you spin the chair round. I’ve double sided tape mine but only if you can find it.

We have had Motorhome's for over 20 years. You are tight to get the beast sorted asap as you have just got it. I found after a while it was more simple for me to get the tool s out and sort basic issues myself. Issues around wind draft coming in. Have a check to see if one roof hatch has had the beading removed. We have a Carthago and the factory remove the foam strip around the bedroom fan light. This is explained that the van is well sealed and needs some ventilation access. They choose the bedroom fan light as it's at the other end of the van when driving

Underslung gas tank about 38ltr will fit, I recommend Autogas 2001 in Thursk as it frees up your gas locker

OMG! That roof needs fixed before heavy rain falls, it looks like that section wasn’t fitted properly during construction. I’m guessing that the previous owner sold it on because the roof was leaking. I would just buy a Jackery Power station with portable solar panels. The more you put on the roof the more leaks you could get.

Chris, we had a similar squeak on the front of our van. It could be quietened by liberally spraying silicone spray along the join. This would only solve the problem for 500 miles ish. In the end the panoramic window was replaced under warranty as it had been installed slightly out of alignment and is a common issue with Adria Twins.

Personally Id have put an Ecoflow power station and extra battery in plus their 800 W alternator charger which is what we did in our van and saved an absolute fortune

Ive got a Clayton LPS in my VW grand cali which worked great but they just dont have enough power plus space is almost endless in the new van so decided to go down that route instead.
@garybarton36224 ай бұрын
I look forward to seeing the install and new adventures. If it makes you feel better our motorhome had so many faults when collected it. TBH I ended up fixing most of them myself so I knew it had been done properly. Best one was our 90 litre water tank had no screws fixing it down so it just slide from side to side.

Maybe an additional rubber seal on the over cab window on the outer side but on the under side of the window may help reduce the noise further.

Getting there mate, have a quick word with Dave if your thinking about the Cinderella loo as not sure if it has a side vent or roof so may need to allow space for that run

Not to be captain hindsight, but you might have been better getting a large van conversion rather than a coachbuilt. The quality of these vehicles nowhere near reflects the price that people want for them.
@stevebennett67274 ай бұрын
Totally agree. Couldn’t wait to get rid of my coachbuilt for a large Ducato campervan 👌🏽
@Bigelitravels3 ай бұрын
I did a self build crafter, bought the crafter brand new, did the conversion myself ( owner of CNC company) and sold it after 12months for a new swift kon tiki. Sold the kon tiki after 4 months as the built quality was garbage and traded it for a German manufactured MH and the build quality on that is garbage as well……. Should have kept the crafter😂👍🏻

That's an impressive list of modifications you have planned you must be a very serious off gridder Chris.

We exclusively stay off grid. Generally around 20 weeks or so per year minimum really so we need it. Especially to work off grid too

How much extra weight will the solar panels and starlink add to the vehicle remove from your available payload ?
@ChrisSloanes4 ай бұрын
Starlink weighs less than 10kg I’m expecting the batteries and solar to add around 60-70kg. Leaves me around 280kg ish before we add another 70kg or so with the hydraulic legs

Hey. It’s Adapt Vans near Peterlee way. If you want their details I’m happy to pass them on. He’s a great guy and knows his stuff. Chris@sloanesmedia.com email me and I’ll send them over
@yorkieminer65254 ай бұрын
I hope you don't think am sticking my nose in ,but that's a lot of battery , there's no way you can charge them up with amount of solar your fitting, you would need 2000 watts of solar to charge them form flat , and would need 10 hours of full sun . Also max air fans are ok but never have them pulling air in or you will have dust everywhere. good luck enjoy your travels.
@ChrisSloanes4 ай бұрын
Yeah thats the plan, plenty of capacity. They will never need to charge from flat, we charge them at home before we leave and we drive at least 4 hours per day which will do the vast majority of the charging including the alternator upgrade im doing ill be fine. We going for 720w of solar and they high end Tiger Exped HV panels too so much higher end than the basic panels a lot of people buy. That said we travel during the winter so im not expecting the solar to contribute a whole lot but if it can offset say the Starlink per day its one less thing to worry about. Yeah ive heard that about those fans but as i said it will be pulling smells out not bringing air in.

Those Man trucks are great to drive, I was happy driving them for miles, decent cabs. But aye, not sure I'd want to be driving a CAT C truck for a motorhome in all practicality.

@@ChrisSloanes is that with a full tank of fuel and water and food? We had to get our van up-plated from 3500 to 440 and probably still close to being overloaded. Best investment was rear air suspension and automatic leveling system.
