OK Guys, it's time to take a look at all the recent news surrounding Montreal Canadiens 5th overall pick Ivan Demidov.. in a recent press conference.. Kent Hughes discussed the possibility of exploring "other options" if Demidov was forced to play another season in the MHL, rather than the KHL.. let's discuss these options. and more ..

It's ok - let Demidov play against men for a year - let Hutson, Mailloux and Reinbacher gain some experience wherever they play - also against men.... then the year after with some contracts expiring and some lineup spots opening up, that's when we set out sights on the cup ... so 25-26 they should make the second round of the playoffs and 26-27 compete for the cup.

I want him in the league by October, but he's playing for SKA St-Petersburg, so buying him out is not an option. SKA is owned by Gazprom, and ran by Gennady Nikolayevich Timchenko. Gazprom is under international sanctions for being Russia's main source of funding, and Timchenko is under international sanctions for operating a mercenary group tied to war crimes in Ukraine. I like Molson, I don't want to see him going to federal prison for violating sanctions. We don't need him that quickly. The only real option is him fleeing undercover to North America like Malkin and Mogilny did, cause I doubt SKA will terminate his contract on compassionate grounds like Michkov's contract was.

Im curious about ehy they puller the triggervon Demidov, but not Michkov. I believe thetrcwas a sense that Demidov loves this type of environment, but Michkov didnt, OR Michkov did not want to play in Montreal. I never bought the whole "Russian factor".

Junkie missed out on an Xhekaj (Florian) 'Welcome To The NHL' exhibition , if he didn't check out this Friday's Montreal Canadiens Development Camp Blanc v Rouge scrimmage games on KZbin . Yeah the 'usuals' (like Beck & Hage) disappointed , but what can you expect from a bunch of Canadian CHL players when they meet up with some real hockey players. Sam Harris looked 'interesting', but still a year (or two) away from being AHL ready.

Hmmmm ...I would of course love to see Demidov play with the Habs, sooner rather than later, but the kid needs time to adjust to the canadian way of playing, not a lot of hitting in the leagues he's played in. Slaf took some hard hits when he started, and many speculated wether he could handle the rough game style, but he did persevere, and is getting better. I think Demidov would benefit with some time playing with the big boys first before playing for the habs. I hate to see a guy rushed in, only to see him get into trouble.

I think Millioux and Xhakej are going to be a great top 4 pair in the future, i think Savard and Hutson make the most sense as a pair due to how both generally play and Ghule and Matheson make the most sense as the top pair to start the season

If they are planning on playing him in the MHL again, just pay them off. He doesn't generate a dime playing in empty arenas in the MHL. They have no reason not let him go besides "why would we?". Give them a reason to let him go and they might. I don't see why they wouldn't take the money. He serves no purpose whatsoever to SKA playing in the MHL.

I am still in shock, even when i knew Demidov was still there at 5, i was STILL worried, and Celine stretched that shit out foreverrrrrrrr... lol. Then she said Ivan, and i lost my shit!!! Yes there is. We rushed Slaf and it's working out fine. Players of a certain caliber get elevated earlier as they have nothing to gain staying at a lower level. One year in the K is fine since it's a step up from the M. After that, get him over here and get him used to showtime.

Because this kid has the potential to be the best player on the team. Cole is good but he's already been passed by Slaf in overall value IMO. By the time Juraj is Caufield's age he'll be far superior as a complete player. It's possible that Cole will be our 4th best forward in a few years; maybe lower if we sign a big UFA.
