People are forgetting one important factor in all of this. Will Quick have a repeat performance of last year, at the age of 38 and turns 39 on January 21. Even knowing the season he had last year. Because of his age, I have to throw that out of the window. Once age really hits an athlete, it really hits them hard and they start to regress rapidly.

I think NYR finish 3rd in division, there I called it. and that is if no huge injuries happen.
@delsanravelvetheart43652 ай бұрын
That's sounds about right, honestly. Too many 'what if's' are in place for the Rangers to finish at the top of the metro division this season. Salary cap issues being the biggest problem to overcome, followed by awful defensive play. Rangers have too many Offensive minded defensemen and that killed them during the Panthers series.
@tedjob21Ай бұрын
The Rangers control their own destiny, how well they perform, how much they, as individuals hold themselves accountable, how much they want to win is yet to be seen. Patrick Roy WILL have the Islanders ready to play, the Flyers will be good along with Pittsburgh and Carolina. They have the talent, they need to be in shape and consistent all season.

The disrespect for our Captain, is outrageous. The mere omission of Trouba, as if he's not a key factor in their success; is absurd. This team needs Trouba to come back healthy and get back to form. Which he will. Amazing how every other Rangers fan darling gets a pass, for crappy play: due to being injured. But Trouba, who actually played very well 95% of the season and post season ( even with a chunk of bone fractured): is perceived as on the decline 🙄 Our Captain will come back strong. But the fanbase will continue to exclusively blame Trouba, for any goal scored, while he's on the ice. While simultaneously ignoring the complete defensive cluekessness of Fox, Miller, and Jones. Not to mention how often Lindgren has mind-boggling defensive screw ups, and terrible defensive decisions. If you think this team has any success without our Captain out there playing well and playing his game, you're delusional.
@delsanravelvetheart43652 ай бұрын
While I don't dislike Trouba, his production has fallen off, both offensively and defensively. Rangers really need to bring some new blood on the defense. The only ones I have faith in is Foxy and Schneider, the rest I'm on the fence about. I'd love to see either Mackey or Robertson make the opening Rangers seasons roster. Fox and Jones will always be limited on defense, nothing you can really do about that. Miller was a forward until college so I did have "some" expectations for Miller to get better on defense. I've seen brief flashes from Miller but not nearly enough. The problem is, the Rangers don't have effective defensive defensemen on the team. Which is the Rangers biggest weakness as a team overall. Also, I'm hard on any player, just being there on the team I root, doesn't give them a pass. If anything, I'll be harder on them, then other players around the league.
@tbonet8592 ай бұрын
@delsanravelvetheart4365 I don't understand how Trouba has decided in defensive play. Guy blocks a million shots, breaks up a million plays, breaks up a million pass attempts, and repeatedly snuffs out opponent's attempted high danger scoring chances🤷 With all due respect: this narrative Rangers fans have been regurgitating; is absurdly exaggerated. Too many Rangers fans simply don't want to admit that their darlings ( Fox & Lindgren), along with Miller: are largely accountable for a majority of the defensive trainwrecks and breakdowns. As I stated a while back: everyone, please, go watch the game hightlights from Games 5 & 6 against the Panthers: right here on youtube...the 8 - 9 minute highlights videos. Watch the defensive breakdowns. The complete absence of defensive awareness: that led to high scoring chances and the back breaking/ series ending goals. Take note of who is on the ice, 98% of the time. Then please come back and let us talk some reality.

@@tbonet859 I'll give you the blocked shots. He has been good at that since becoming a Ranger. He was in the top 3 in total blocked shots in the NHL, last year. Didn't check the end of the NHL season block totals count. He just drives me nuts when he lines someone up for a hit, Which I do like, taking him out of the play when he misses, which I don't like. I don't expect anything from Fox, when it comes to defensive play. Miller should just become a forward again, I think he'd be effective as a forward on the main PP, blocking the goalie view and he does have good hands, his passing is ok. He needs to work on the timing of his passes better when exiting the Rangers zone. Miller is 6"5 and refuses to use his big body effectively on defense, which again, drives me nuts. Both Mackey and Robertson have better defensive awareness then most of the Rangers currently on the active roster. Plus, they know how to play physical hockey. Rangers still haven't fixed the defensive issues so were in for a long season folks lol. However, I don't really blame Trouba for lining people up. Otherwise, half of the Rangers physical play would not exist as Trouba played the most physical type of hockey last season.

Marc Stall got hired today by the Rangers to be a player development assistant. So that should be interesting. It could help the kids on the defensive end by giving some pointers as he was a solid defensemen during his career. So that's some good news.
@tbonet8592 ай бұрын
@delsanravelvetheart4365 It's not just blocked shots. He snuffs out opponents attacking: in several ways, as I described up above. Been watching him do it all, since he got here.

I believe they will win the Presidents Trophy and win the elusive Lord Stanley. Jack Roslovic started off well then he faded away you know like when you eat cotton candy it fades away yea he played with no pride. Remember i have been telling you the organization is wasting their time with players no one else wants? rather than using their prospects which i would rather see than a player that has no heart.
@delsanravelvetheart43652 ай бұрын
No shot. Don't get me wrong, I'd love for that to happen and would 100% be at the celebration in the city but let's be real, Rangers don't have the defense to win a Cup. I wouldn't be surprised if Mackey or Robertson get called up at some point, same with other prospects this season. Chytil for sure is going to go down at some point, no doubt about that. So there will be plenty of chances for some of the prospects to showcase there talent

I want a team that goes through some adversity this season and gets in as a 3 seed. The problem of being the number one team is that even the scrub teams are gunning for you and giving their best every night. We need teams to take nights off against us.

It’s the NYR. We could finish dead last and teams will always have us circled on their calendars. MSG. The history

No I don't think so I'm not seeing it , it completely hinges on Igor and quick being top of their game . My pick for president trophy is Edmonton, Vancouver or Nashville idk I think a west team takes it this year.
@delsanravelvetheart43652 ай бұрын
The west got a lot better, that's for sure. You can never count out Connor Mcdavid. As long as he's on the Oilers they've got a great chance at winning the Presidents Trophy ever year. Vancouver is an interesting team. Hiring Rick Tocchet two year ago ended up being a very smart move, which did honestly surprised me by how fast he turn the Canucks around. Nashville is hard to place, I feel like they underperform often. Even though they still have good seasons. For me, Nashville is the hardest team to figure out. With the overall talent on that team, they should be having 50+ win seasons.

@delsanravelvetheart4365 Nashville went hard at free agent time I expect them have a good year if their goaltending holds up.

There is going to be stiff competition around the league. Rangers will be tops if they can solidify forward lines 1 and 3...and stay healthy.

Another thing: the fact that anyone believes or mentions Chytil, as if he's gonna' be a reliable factor is perplexing, at best. Replace Chytil with Berard. Be done with it. Trade Chytil to a team that needs to meet the Cap minimum. They can take his whole salary.
@delsanravelvetheart43652 ай бұрын
I just don't wanna see Chytil go down again. Poor guy, enough is enough just retire already for your health and family.
@tbonet8592 ай бұрын
@delsanravelvetheart4365 Right. None of us do. However, how can we even consider or mention Filip as a solution, for this team's problems? Knowing his physical fragile state of being? Sorry, makes no sense to me. I simply do not understand many of the fanbase's though processes.
@delsanravelvetheart43652 ай бұрын
@@tbonet859 Agreed, his last concussion he suffered was falling on the ice during a non-contact practice. All the signs are there, Chytil just needs to give it up. Also, I do not know how people can actually include him as a part of any future plan. If he plays this season, I fear the worse for Chytil. Not to mention, peca's faceoff coaching style for the center is to get really low and you see them fall head first sometimes. Vinny and Mika did that often last year due to there weight leaning forward while low before the puck drop. For Chytil to do that is almost asking for something bad to happen.
@tbonet8592 ай бұрын
@delsanravelvetheart4365 Absolutely. I don't want to see Filip take a hit and convulse on the ice. Worry about his health and long term life. Post Concussion Disorder is horrible. I personally know this, first hand. But for Filip to continue risking the possibility of CTE, is exponentially more dangerous and scary.
