The New York Rangers HAVE SOME MASSIVE PROBLEMS…

There is no shred of doubt that the Rangers defense has held themselves back from being as good as the Winnipeg Jets' historic start. And it is going to have to take a significant improvement in that part of their game if they have any chance to win tomorrow against that team. And yes, if it was not for Igor (minus Thursday's game against Buffalo) and Quick, this team would have a losing record right now. They really need to not just shore up their defense, but start getting depth scoring with more consistency and stop relying on goaltending to bail them out. Being 9-4 in the first 13 games is definitely good. But they can be better. Much better. Make a statement tomorrow not just to the Jets, but the rest of the league.

It does look like, however, that the coaching staff has them playing differently than they ever have before, granted they definitely do have a defensive problem however, I believe they have a positional issue because they’re learning a new style to play. It really seems like they’re trying to get them dialed in on cycling and working different styles in both the defensive and offensive and something they don’t seem comfortable with and is why I believe the coaching staff is taking the time to make them comfortable with it in the beginning of the season That way the Rangers are more than one or two dimensional at the end of the day we already won the president’s trophy. If we can take some time now to develop a formula that will be better served to come playoff time if we perfect it then I’m all for some losses and some struggles right now. However, if it doesn’t produce the results we’re looking for and it’s the same old story come the end of the season then we really have to look at the coaching staff in ability to adapt this team, which is something we’ve done for the last decade. Realistically, it’s too early to tell.

This years team is better then last years on paper, but not on the ice. I don;t like the line shuffling at all - we had 1 inaffective line Zib, Smith, Kreids, and Trochek was so-so. Now we have 2 top lines that look discombobulated.

The problem the Rangers have is they're not great when playing at even strength. Their special teams are great. But it's very difficult to win the Stanley Cup when you're not great at even strength.

@@seveglider8406 I think that our 5 v 5 will improve because of our third line and also the fact that Smith is looking more comfortable out there. It's our defense that is the main issue.

@@calmandprosperous Defense is a team concept which requires defensemen, forwards and goalies to work as a cohesive unit. When a team isn't playing well at even strength, it isn't just about defense because the Rangers don't spend enough time in the offensive zone. When a team is playing solid offensive Hockey, simultaneously they're playing good defensive Hockey. I believe the Rangers will improve their even strength play. However there are a few teams whose even strength play far exceeds the Rangers.

Quick and Igor are going to have nothing left in the tank, come playoff time if they continue to face an average of 30 shots per game. This is like that opposite of what the Rangers did during Hanks time. They would start hank for over 60 plus games a season and would be gassed come playoff time, despite having a good defense in front of him. Now, they don't have that good defense and will run into the same situation as the Ranger teams Hank was a part of, nothing left it in the tank come playoff time. It seems to be a recurring theme with the Rangers goalies. Different reasons but the same results.

When we heard they were gonna run it back again we all knew this was be the result , I fear Drury won't make the changes if we keep winning , like you said Igor and quick will be empty tanks or injured by playoffs.

@@Ddeamorin Oh for sure. The defense on the current Rangers roster can not take this team to a cup finals or, even be good enough to take some pressure off of the Goalies. I'm afraid It'll be an early playoff exit if Drastic changes aren't made on the defensive end.

Just reading the score in the Red Wings game is misleading. The first two periods looked like the dreadful Buffalo nongame. Too many quality shots allowed, poor defense. too much time own zone, outskated and outplayed, not enough hard hits. Positives were Quick's play and making the Red Wings pay for several lapses.

Everyone relax, it’s 10 games into the season. To play the type of defense it takes to win a Stanley cup, is impossible to play a full 82 games prior to the playoffs.

I have a bad feeling about Winnipeg tomorrow, we are gonna get trounced. Our rush defense is non existent, our top D men get walked regularly or don't bother picking anyone up . I don't think Drury will do anything if we keep winning.

If you honestly think about it, Drury hasn't really brought in a lot of talent onto the roster since becoming the GM and really screwed the Rangers cap flexibility. Now, I do like the draft choices he went with but most of the credit for that, goes to the Rangers scouting department.

​@delsanravelvetheart4365 how did he screw the rangers cap wise. I mean we're winning, we're not perfect. Fans gotta tone down a bit. Okay trouba is over paid but he is a good player and leader. He isn't going to 1 man his line and needs a good partner. Lindgren isn't 100% right now. He really shouldn't be playing. Miller looks awful this year. Last year he had his looks and wasn't atrocious defensively. Fox isn't good at defense at all and it's a problem. We all have to take in consideration NY tax so ya we going to have to over pay at least 2mil. Zib is still good.slowed down but we have to ccpect he is our #1 C. The only changes I can see is moving from Miller Lindgren or Smith. Don't think we will get full value for lundgren due to his healrh. Miller prob get a 2nd. And Smith will just to be to clear cap space

@@BrownKnee666 Fox is the offensive defensemen for the Rangers. While his lack of defense is annoying, every team in today's NHL has at least one of those type of defenders, to play point on the first PP line. Lindgren I do like but it's hard to count on a player that is always in and out of the lineup due to injury. As far as center depth. I currently have it as Vinny, Mika and Chytil. You can even make an argument that Chytil should be the second line depth center over Mika at the moment. Due based off of a nightly performance. I love Mika and he's one of my favorite players but I have to be honest with what I see from him on a nightly basis. The only good defenders the Rangers have are Schneider, Mancini and Jones. It pains me to admit that but I can't deny the facts, just because I'm a dieheart Rangers fan. Also, not having any cap flexibility for what could be a fifth straight year speaks for itself. As far as Trading players, Lindgren would be the odd one out and likely to be moved before Miller or Trouba. The fact Lindy is a UFA this coming off-season pretty much seals his fate, if Drury grows a pair and trades Lindy.

Strange. You talk about the Rangers being one of the top teams in the league, but the title of the post is they HAVE SOME MASSIVE PROBLEMS. This seems a bit like you saying you don’t know what you are talking about. With under 20 games played so far this year there are a lot of posts for many teams by fair weather friends who jump on and off the bandwagon twice a week. At the end of the year we all hope our team will hold the cup, but let’s get real: nobody wins 82 games.

Did you even watch the video? He explains that we are seeing the same issues we saw the previous year. Inconsistent defense, relying too much on goaltending, etc. There's no "bandwagon" here. The Rangers are not going to the win the division let alone the Cup if they play like they currently are.
