Selassie is gorgeous and so full of personality!!! I made mac and cheese with chicken and broccoli for my nieces and they had no idea of my plot to get them to eat some protein and veggies. Their mom eventually started adding some of squash puree in with the cheese sauce. The key is to get good food into kids is to lie and plot against them.
@JohnPorsbjerg3 жыл бұрын
"lie and plot against them" SO TRUE

Yes!! When it comes to getting nutrition into a child, you gotta be diabolical. My niece has some kind of psychological issue with food that started as a toddler. My sister learned to put spinach in pancakes and even pumpkin custard. My kid wasn’t as extreme but I did feel some sort of way about being a lifelong vegetarian who couldn’t get her own kid to eat veggies. So I’d slip them into everything. My fav way was chilli. You can hide a lot of veggies in a black bean chili if you chop them fine enough. But I didn’t push her (that’s what my dad did and ruined meat for me) but I would eat salads and veggie packed sandwiches in front of her. One day she asked for a bite of my Asian sesame salad on pita, and ever since she’s been eating every veg I put in front of her. But before that I’d been known to lie and slip veggies into everything from breakfast to desert.

@@Comrade_mommy i had a similar experience, mine hated eating veggies at one point. i stopped pressuring them and just ate salads on my own and one day they asked to try some of it and ever since they love almost all veggies

These are great videos! I love thinking of new ways to approach foods. It makes me a bit sad to hear the dismissal of picky eaters. There are a lot of stories behind why we end up that way. For me, I was forced to eat dairy and textures I hate for years. Now that I know my allergies and intolerances, I cook lots of things. I alter textures and find alternatives. It’s not bc I am a naughty picky eater - I was forced to be sick. That’s creepy on other people’s parts. I love the questions you ask bc it helps me figure out why a food isn’t working for me. And now I need a nondairy version of this bc yummmmm broccoli for life. 🥦😋
@savannahalvarado34892 жыл бұрын
That's so true..one of my foster homes would force us to finish our plates or else we'd sit there all night. They'd make me eat onions, peas, and deer. I would put it down my pants and throw it away when they weren't looking and then eat toothpaste 😭 it's just laziness on parents' approach bc some of them thrive off of control.
