Love this! I constantly have people telling me "Aw, I wish I could go vegan but it's too expensive" and I always have to explain that it really doesn't have to be expensive at all. Personally, I find it cheaper than what I was eating before I was vegan bc meat and dairy are actually quite expensive. I was even living before the poverty line and was still able to eat nutritious vegan food with staples like bananas, rice, beans, and oats. It only gets expensive when you buy the boujee alternatives that really aren't necessary.
@kraziiXIII4 жыл бұрын
The hard part of being vegan isn't the actual food you have to eat but learning how to cook beyond meat, veggie, carb, repeat and learning how to slowly implement vegan choices. That is where I've been struggling the most. Like I've come to view meat in the last six months as an occasional thing rather than a daily or even weekly thing. Same with a lot of dairy products. Like I have a sensitivity to milk so i haven't drank straight cow's milk in probably over two years, but I've struggled to find good replacements for yogurt, sour cream and my favorite food cheese. Chao slices have definitely saved my hind end for my grilled cheese fixes. Still haven't found a homemade vegan cheese yet or like cheese board cheese replacements or a good plain greek yogurt replacement. I am trying to go for a practical, more realistic approach since I have issues with disordered eating and my end goal is to have 80% of my meals vegan, 15% vegetarian and 5% omnivore(?) for the time being. It gives me the flexibility I need to fall off the wagon or be a week day vegan and a weekend/special ocassion/holiday omnivore.

@SingingSealRiana4 жыл бұрын
I would not count chickpea flour as an egg substitute. It is a cheap, whole food and preparing it similar to eggs is anciant in India and other countries close, it is its own thing. Same goes for natural tofu and tempeh. But yeah, otherwise I'm real not fond of substitutional ingredients which are often highly processed, expensive and unnecessary. Coming up with vegan recipes without those really should not be that big of a deal as it is framed as.
