Thought point in those boxes is that you don't have to buy a lot of other ingredients? She already bought enough ingredients to nearly make it properly, as made the white sauce. Macaroni cheese is white sauce with added cheese and pasta, so all box did was give the cheese and pasta

Rie's dish meets that standard and then some. Box mac and cheese maybe as a garnish. Rie's dish maybe $20. The usual route would be beef, bacon, onion. Adding a beshamel sauce is interesting.
