I'm in the final stages of putting my new system together and your video with the DB 272 doing the 5 minute torture test was the moment I knew I was going with DB. I bought 2 of these 275's a couple weeks ago and just now seeing this video. So glad it held up as good as the 12". I can't wait to have these 2, 15's on a JP43 in an extended cab Silverado. @GTILOUD yeah I finally got it put in less than a week ago. I love the way it sounds. I have a bunch of work to do in the way of sound deadening because at a certain volume level, the roof and doors begin vibrating so hard it sounds like the world is about to end.

I only use DB. Their subs handle over rms all day. I clamp 2200 a sub on my 9 302 12’s. Over 5000 a sub in my other vehicle on 6 3512R. Never smelled a coil. Never an issue. Great video! Never used the 270 series. Now I know they are good too! Thank you Parker.

It's actually a good thing that the sub is moving a lot. It does help with cooling the coil. Now a 5-minute pure sine-wave at RMS power is a brutal test on a sub. DB subs are incredibly well built and somewhat underrated.

I used to hang out at an audio shop in late 80s and when a customer blew a lanzar woofer we would take em in pairs and plug em in directly to the wall face down on the floor and stand on em til they smoked. Sometimes took more than 10 minutes

I have two of these 12s on 2k and Sylvester’s in the doors, and I think they sound amazing together. Music is crisp and detailed and the subs react surprisingly well from funk and blues to rebassed music at 25hz

Without getting to the results yet, im going to say yes. The reason for that is DB is a regular sponsor of the channel, therefore in typical "scratch my back, Ill scratch yours", if it grenaded under RMS, it wouldnt make it to KZbin. Product reviewers that are unsponsored are getting hard to find. If anyone can afford to do reviews independently, they would take over this space in car audio content on all platforms. Much like "project farm" has done in the automotive tool genre. Still lot of good info comes from this channel, very informative. Thanks PTBH

Got a deafbonce db412 12inch that weight over 100lbs in a 3cube net tuned at 30hz on a 4k rms in a gutted Honda element shit gets down 147 @40hz and 145 @35 for a 12inch impressed had 2 w7s and the deafbonce outshines them in every way possible

I wish the long tone test was done in an enclosure. All the free air test shows is that the sub is underated not properly rated since free air reduces power handling capability.

Did you smell it? I didn't even see smoke... thats a solid subwoofer, I've seen many 5m tests turn into a smokey blazing mess on this channel even with some really premium brands and the DB subs always hold their own against the mob... I knew of DB before your vids but didn't think nothing of them, it's a huge point of respect for me that they sponsored you, that speaks volumes to me about their company and especially them telling you to do "Parkers 5m test" on their drivers... I guarantee there's some brands out there that cringe at the thought of you choosing one of their subs that week 😂😂. And yes, it's nerve wracking for us all to watch the brutality trust me lol

I need to be able to get subs that can take what a 3k taramp gives. I've killed 4 FXL 10's. The coil eventually goes in a 6 mo period. How to cheaply get 3k out but not blow. That would be a good target video.

When listening to music, the impedance changes constantly as does the wattage the sub is getting. For example, 1500 RMS rating means just that, RMS, or root mean square which is an average of any multiple of numbers. 1500 RMS does not mean the sub can handle a CONSTANT 1500w for any length of time. It means it can handle an average of 1500watts, assuming the wattage going to the sub is constantly fluctuating. So if a coil burns up after giving it its RMS rated wattage without the wattage fluctuating, that doesn't mean its a false rating. Thats my take on it, feel free to poke holes in it though.

Rms is used to take a sinusoid and convert it to a constant value, you are cutting off the peaks to fill the valeys when converting to rms value. its not an average of power over time, its the true power of a sinusoid power measure. So yes a Sub should be able to take its rated wrms, what you have in mind is maybe the max power rating.
