When I saw this video popped up I clicked on it and was all excited to see your thoughts on it as well since I posted my video about the whiskey pump last week. "tupa-tupa-tupa-tupa" necessary sound effects for Whisky ageing. Also, had a similar thing for espresso, it was a camping one... one of my colleagues at work brought it it, then proceeded to lose the seal and explode boiling water all over himself... genius.

It is very important, all major distilleries hire a guy to go around to each barrel and whisper "tupa tupa tupa" to them. Boiling water all over you sounds so much worse than BT on my pants...

Gave my grandad a sample of BT white dog. He was a moonshine runner as a youth (allegedly)so I've had plenty of shine. I love getting his opinion. In his exact words, "that is some good shit!" He just smiled and kept sipping lol. The machine seems pretty bullshit.

Honestly, the only fair way to judge it, would have been to have someone else run the BT through for you, and then you do a blind test. I still find it exceptionally difficult to believe there could be any perceptible difference between the two samples given the amount of wood used and the exposure time to it. The only thing the pump really seemed to do, was aerate the distillate. There is a hole in those discs for a reason. Because there is no way to force that liquid THROUGH the wood fibers that quickly with just a little plunger. Probably 99.99% of the distillate travels right through the hole in the chip, extracting nothing at all. If there is indeed some flavor being imparted, what is the chance that the chips are treated with something to artificially flavor the alcohol?

Yes, the dupa is essential to the aging of whiskey. The spelling differs, in Ireland and America it's called Tupa and the Scottish and Canadians call it Dupa. The Dupaman goes around to each barrel and whispers "dupa dupa dupa" while gently patting the barrel.
