The 11370H/11390H were very bizarre. Basically just a U series CPU with a boosted power budget, but no extra cores like the other H series i7s have. Many mobile i5s of the same period also had more cores, so it truly was an H series i7 in name only.

I really hate the i7 11th gen mobile cpu’s. At the time when they first released, I was looking for a gaming/programming laptop for my now ex and also myself since I was going into college. Found a 3070 laptop with this i7 for sub $1000, was thrilled because it seemed like an amazing deal but was suspicious of it from the price. Did some digging and found out that it couldn’t even handle a power kneecapped 3070 because it was that weak. What’s sad is that despite 11th gen desktop being very lackluster, 11th gen mobile was actually an upgrade in core count and IPC from 8th-10th gen but it just kinda sucked.

I own a gpd win Max handheld laptop. It came with an I5 1035g7 and after like two years I upgraded the whole motherboard to a Tiger lake based one. My cpu was and still is the I7 1195g7, that goes up to 5,0GHz. All I have to say is that Tiger lake has been a major upgrade for my personal computing needs and especially gaming profited massively. The xe GPU is a major step up and it allowed me to play games like elden ring at 720p 30fps locked without any frame drops with decent settings. What I don't really like is the fact, that Intel has locked down undervolting and other forms of tweaking (I usually get massive efficiency gains tweaking my cpus).

I feel you, I went from 1065G7 to a 1165G7. That DG1 (Xe) is an appreciable upgrade even if it isn't realy made for 1080p. It supports 3440x1440@144hz, has AV1 decode, VRR,... On the same node (10nm), Tiger Lake was a massive upgrade in frequency over Ice Lake.

From your experience with buying used from CeX have you ever used their 2 year warranty? and how would you compare their used products to ones bought from private sellers on websites with or without buyer protection and the original product warranties? As ive seen CeX takes away most of your savings from buying used and im wondering how much you think the 2year warranty is worth from them :)
@IcebergTech Жыл бұрын
I've used the warranty several times. If I'm inside 7 days of delivery they usually just inspect it and then refund within a day. I don't always get chance to return within the 7 day window, so when that happens they tend to refund as a voucher. I've had a number of items from CeX that straight up didn't work, weren't what I ordered, or were in terrible condition, so if they weren't so easygoing about their warranty I'd be much more reluctant to use them. As it is, the convenience of being able to walk to my local store and have them help with problems is worth far more to me than anything eBay offers in the way of buyer protection. It's been a while since I had a bad experience as a buyer on eBay, but I still feel a certain preference for CeX. Unless I'm looking for something specific, or there's a big price difference, I usually prefer to buy from CeX if I can.

I generally like tiger lake, as it's the newest of what I'd consider to be "usable" architectures from Intel. It's the second generation of Intel mobile chips this decade to not be using Skylake, so the cores are pretty OK, and it uses the still (somehow) current gen Xe-LP GPU uarch. It's also on their second-gen 10nm node, making for an overall usable chip. Not to say that older uarches aren't usable, they totally are, just that TGL is the oldest uarches that I'd still consider "newish"

Tiger Lake was a big step up from Rocket Lake; but obviously Alder Lake is better than both. I have found Tiger Lake to be a pretty good setup with an 11800H and a higher Ampere dGPU onboard. It was nice because Intel finally gave the laptops PCIe Gen 4 (which is still smoking fast BTW), more cache and a better memory controller. They do get hot though, these chips. Again, this chip you tested seems weak to me; but the 8 core 11800H is not weak at all. Interesting video.

There literally is no reason for any company to go with an intel solution vs an AMD one. Putting these terrible little mini PCs out in the wild are just costing the average consumer that doesn't know any better. Pis solve the low power single board computing tasks and any somewhat new AMD APU solves the mid to high end. Intel just needs to stay out of arenas where they can't compete at all unless they want to sell their parts for peanuts (they will never do this).
