Empowering is the best word for a mic like this. I got a $100 Samson USB condenser mic for my 21st birthday (and trust me, when I was 21, $100 felt like a million) and it opened me up to songwriting. I had a ton of ideas but lacked a way to record it. Best value out there!

yeah I noticed it immediately as well. Makes it very useful for podcasters or singers but not for recording guitar

Yeah and a bad one by the sounds of it. Too heavy and the release is too long for recording guitar

yeah it's clearly optimized for voice but the guitar sounded pretty good after being re-compressed (maybe normalized ?)

I have a Behringer C1-U (condenser USB) and it's pretty good. They have a XLR version as well. The benefits of USB are plug-and-play and no need for an interface, the downside is that monitoring your audio has a little extra latency. This one doesn't do any processing of its own, making it more versatile.

Sounded great... Her vocals.... The guitar sounded OK but lacked depth quite tinny I thought. Maybe the position of the mic could be adjusted and a bit of eq to warm the guitar up a bit

If you have two identical microphones with the exception of the input connector types the difference should be negligible unless the USB passes less signal. Peace.

I love when a vendor goes.all.out and includes the EVERYTHING including the shockmount the eXtensive eXpensive, which is totally going to be my new fusion jazz country metal band name in 2020 so hurry if you want to use it before me.
