Bless your hearts! You literally possibly have saved her life and not just that, but improved it by the millions. I’m Mexican, and unfortunately Mexico has high number of homeless dogs, but also dogs with owners that for one reason or another are not a good fit to own a dog. I was so scared to watch then end of the video and find out you had to leave her behind. But thank thank you for your kindness!!❤️❤️❤️

Thank you so much for the kind words. You're right, there are so many stray dogs on the streets. Just on the island where we found Scout, there were at least a dozen that walked by the campground daily. We feel fortunate that everything worked out for us and Scout, but there are so many more dogs that need help down in Mexico... -Howard

You guys did a really good thing taking her. I’ve worked with lots of newly rescued dogs and the leash reaction Scout (or Pinky ... the white dog on your lap) had from what you said - that is the reaction I’ve seen time and time again with dogs who have spent their life tied to a tree or post. From what you said about the family, I’m sure if that happened to her it was not done out of malice or even neglect, but to keep her from running off when they couldn’t feed her and she had to you find her own food. Sadly I’ve seen so many instances where the parents (as may be the case here) knew they couldn’t care for the dog, but had a child who couldn’t stand the thought of their dog running away. So the animals would suffer horribly BECAUSE they had people that loved them. In any case; even if this isn’t what happened with Sc...inky, she is clearly in an infinitely better place with you two (or four) ... and still young. She had a whole life of adventure and love (and food) ahead of her. THAT does my heart good!

I can relate to your story so deeply, I also fell in love with a street dog while on vacation in Puerto Morelos, Mexico. But that dog had an owner... However, this put me in contact with a wonderful woman who had a dog shelter, and a partnering vet. I was introduced to my little Bendita, an abandoned puppy and it was Love at first sight! I adopted her and brought her back to cold Canada, to meet with my other 11 year old beagle Maya who immediately took good care of the puppy. Bendita loves the snow in the winter and doesn’t mind when it’s cold, and she’s the sweetest little brat! 💕💕

While working with CPS, I got a really bad case in a rural area. I went to a ranch that U.S. Marshall's had raided. As I responded, I arrived at the ranch and was greated by like 20 ranch dogs. It was chaos,, tons of cops, marshals and other CPS workers. I had to send some kids via ambulance to a hospital. Gladly, they ended up being okay. As I was getting ready to leave and to go to the hospital to follow up, I heard a pup one of the ones that had greated me, get run over by a speeding truck. Im never going to forget the sound of the dog crying. I stopped and the dog had crawled into the grass of the street. I picked her up and took her home before heading to the hospital. Took her to the vet the next day and found she had a broken hip. He gave me the option to put her down. Which I didn't take. Took her home and she has been the craziest and best adition to our home. Not sure but I had to write this. Thank you for adopting this pup!!

She's no rattie! We had one for 14 years and they are half her size. She is a twin to our current boy, but she has slightly less spots than our's. We did a dna test for him and he's part pittie, pointer, coon hound and a couple other I forget. I bet that's what Scout is too.

I just discovered you when I saw a title of your video of San Miguel (SMA) where I lived and built two homes (2008-2017). Missing SMA as I've returned to live full time back in the US, foolishly, I really enjoyed seeing it again. Then, I tuned into this video and as an animal lover and someone who rescued more than a dozen dogs while in SMA and shipped them north, I really love what you've done for Scout. 'My' street dog, Emma, (I would've loved to have homed her, but she prefers life on the street. I did have her spayed and all her puppies homed north.) is still fed by a family who owned a carniceria near where I built my first home. I send $ to a friend who takes pesos monthly to the family that feeds Emma. "It's always the right time to do the right thing"~MLK You did a great thing!

Wow. I'm sure if it were me there I would be coming home with one or two strays. They have a way of pulling at my heart strings. Had a stray goat come to my home on Thursday. Thank God I found the owner or yours truly would have a goat as a pet. Never realized how friendly goats can be. He followed me around like a dog and enjoyed rubbing up against me. Easy to get attached. Short of the smell, he was a keeper. Now I know where the phrase "musty as a Billy goat" comes from. But he was majestic in my eyes.

Rescue dog are the best, we have three and one is deaf. It took a lot of training but she has been a therapy dog at a couple hospitals for four years till Covid 19 hit. Safe trip!

I am so happy to see Scout getting a good home. This video actually made me tear up a little. We are cat people. Reggie had passed away and we had decided we would wait a year before looking for a new kitty when a kitten came across my wife's Facebook page. He melted her heart. Originally we are from Virginia, but the last five years we have called Florida home. The kitten was at rescue shelter in Virginia. So we made arrangements to get him and loaded the RV for a trip north. When we got there we texted the lady to let her know we were in town. She replied back that she had let the kitten go to someone else. My wife was heart broken. She wanted to leave immediately and go home. It was evening so I convinced her to stay a day. Then all of her friends called and wanted to see us we I knew we would be there for a couple of days. One of her friends talked her into going to PetsMart. We had been there earlier that day and they didn't have any kitten's. My wife really wanted a kitten this time. So on the way to dinner we all stopped at PetsMart. They had just gotten a liter of kittens in the last hour. We found Little Rebecca Hope. Her friends all said little Rebecca won the kitty cat lottery. She is spoiled rotten and rules the house. Of course when we travel she comes with us in the RV. She is family.

Hi you two! Happened upon your channel and you had me at Mexico and adopting a pup! So happy for you and Scout and just want to tell you you are naturals and so easy to watch. Your warmth and kindness just flows out of the screen. You have 2 new people watching your travels. Hubby and I are full-time wannabes in maybe a year or so and are loving all the info in KZbin land. We had the pleasure of visiting the southern tip of Baja, Mexico and fell in love with a little village with great fishing, Los Barriles. Many people are so afraid of Mexico and the dangers but when you go and you get to experience the people you love it. Safe travels and look forward to watching!

Thanks for the good cry today. We have a beautiful mutt cat that found us in Mexico, He hasn’t left our side since he showed up in our lives. He fit right in with our 2 dogs after a little time and we all get along great, traveling and all. We believe animals pick you you don’t pick them. The 4 of you are lucky to have Scout/Pinky in your lives. You will always have a little piece of Mexico and your adventure with you. Thanks for the videos and stay well.

I live in Mexico and yes, there are tons of stray dogs...Scout actually looks like one if ours. we rescued 4 stray dogs and always want to rescue more if we have a bigger space. love your videos......and im glad you love mexico.

That is so wonderful, I believe the family understands that Pinky/Scout will be in good hands! What is more important is that you guys are helping to change this world and the way we see it with your example. By showing the contrast of it everywhere you go. When I was little something similar happen to me in Mexico. My dog had little doggies but we could not feed them all so we had to give them to different people for free. And the only reason I believe it was okay, was when I knew that the new family was going to treat them well. It was so comforting to me as well as an important lesson in life. I love cats and dogs and would find it just about impossible not to adopt one of each while there, so I relate to what you experienced. Good for what you did for that sweet dog!! Don't know if you follow Gone with the Wynns, but they had a similar experience in Tonga (they were caught there when Covid lock down began) with a darling kitten. It's quite a wonderful story. So glad you took Scout with you. What a blessing for her and for all of you.

It's ironic because both our videos about adoption came out in the same week, total coincidence but fantastic to show different perspectives from opposite sides of the globe.
