21 seconds after the 5 second heads up? I'm with Gaunson, that's outrageous, the difference between when he expected it and when it was thrown is over 3x the original given timeframe. For all he knew, something interrupted the throw. Even when Gaunson dropped the duck, he did so knowing full well that Herron would have time to react to the trajectory.

Gaunson definitely got the raw end of that soccer ball throw. Even if he had the countdown there was no way he was catching that and should have demanded a rethrow.

A suggestion to make the next catching competition fairer: the thrower gets half a point if the catcher catches the item. That will be an incentive to try to throw it close to the catcher (and give a count down).

Maybe an extra (half) point for the thrower and catcher if it is a difficuly catch? Like far of from the start point of the catcher. It could incentive some risk taking.

The air resistance on those has quite surprising. The math says that they should have about a six-second fall-time but they're usually doing half over that if not more.

Why would all of the have a six second fall time? They are all shaped differently.
@danielbickford3458
@danielbickford3458 2 жыл бұрын
@@quinnleonard1298 short answer physics. Long answer the fall time of an object is based on two factors, air resistance which is based on shape, and downwards acceleration which is based on gravity. And since gravity is based on the mass of both objects and the Earth is so much bigger as to make pretty much everything else insignificant, all things on earth fall at the same rate. There have been several experiments in which people dropped both a heavy object like a bowling ball and a light object like a feather in a vacuumed out Tower with no air in it and they both fell at the exact same speed. Air resistance on the other hand can change that quite a bit. Think about a skydiver and how much they slow down once they open their parachute. Their Mass doesn't change at all, their surface area on the other hand increases drastically. I hope this explains everything

Sadly I think it’s too late this time around but we need a night video at this place. The things you could do with throwing lights etc would be absolutely epic.

Here's a idea: How about throwing off 1 foot square pieces of solid cardboard? But you have to throw them both like a frisbee and vertically. When those things catch the wind...THEY REALLY FLY! Imagine throwing them off the dam! WOW!
