You forgot some of Sir Alex Ferguson's titles with Aberdeen. He was the first person in 15 years to break the Rangers-Celtic duopoly and is currently the last manager to win Scottish league title with a team not named Celtic or Rangers. With Aberdeen he won 3 league titles, 5domestic cups, European cup winners cup (beat bayern and Real Madrid in semis and finals) and European super cup.

This is the reason there is always a big gap between first and the rest. When you finish 10 - 20 points behind thw winners, you never had a chance. SAF built united into the powerhouse they are today. He generated the cash himself by getting results on the pich, which then led to better transfer budgets. Pep has never had that challenge as he's had access to enormous budgets in all the clubs he's managed. As a comparison Pep had twice the net expenditure as OGS has had in their first two - crucial - seasons. I don't rate Pep anywhere even remotely close to SAF.

But he's also worked at clubs that had huge pockets and great success prior to his arrival: he never built a team from poor pedigree. But Ferguson took an unfancied Aberdeen to the top of Scotland and then Europe in 82-83 beating bayern and Madrid for the European Cup.. I think that last achievement is the most remarkable: he didnt have a big budget or big team and won it all. He also transformed Man U from middling fare into a powerhouse. So a couple for Ferguson. Fergie done it with lower level of players like Aberdeen and some of his teams at United were average at times. Yes he had money to spend too but he built teams from scratch. Pep almost always had world class talent ready made for him all he had to was implement his style . Yes and no, Barcelona were in rough shape until Ronaldinho came then they became the best team in Spain. Pep has shown his brilliance in the last few seasons but much of his success is because he’s only managed top top teams. He started with a strong Barcelona side with a young Messi, then went to Bayern who absolutely dominated the Bundesliga before he came. I’d argue that the only challenge in his managerial career is Man City so far and even then they’ve allowed him to spend more money than any manager in history. I don’t think Pep would’ve achieved what he has if he went to an Italian side like inter or ac Milan after Barcelona.

Yes we can. Pep schooled SAF in two cl finals (not only him but Hitzfeld did it aswell). And even if we say that ManUniteds 2011 squad was washed, they still got absolutely dominated in the CL final of 2009 aswell when they still had CR7 and Tevez...Put nostalgia and the City hatred aside and it's quite clear imo that Pep is better and at every team he manged you could see his philosophy. The only reason I considered SAF better for a long time was because of his adaptability but as we can see this season, Guardiola managed to adapt aswell. And spending a lots money won't change that if you don't have the right philosophy and experience as Pep does... I mean look at Man United and Chelsea before Tuchel took over...SAF is a great coach and easily one of the best ever but at time people really seem to overhype him because of his achievements in the prem. Guardiola arguably build what many considered the best football team in history (yeah, HE build them) and influenced players even after his departure. SAF is great but not at the same level as Guardiola imo and his 13 PL's won't change that. And the argument about "longevity" is absolutely ridiculous. I mean let Pep stay in the prem for 27 years and he'd most likely do better than SAF but that's the thing: he most likely won't do that as he's not interested in it.
