I agree, but I also think that it would’ve helped if the fabric that closed the notebook was smaller so that it was secured around the charm. I also think that it leaving like a mark of where the band is( like a dent around the clay ) would’ve helped too

I normally really like your dupes. These didn't work for me. The notebook in particular just didn't look very good. Everything to do with the strap was just off. Sorry to be a downer I just know that honest criticism is valuable. You're both fantastic and I'm looking forward to your next video.

Agreed. A bit more effort in finishing or pre-planning the design could have made the notebook look awesome.

I also agree. The raw edges everywhere make it look sloppy. It would have taken more time to have a better edge for everything, especially for the lacing, but would have been worth it.

punching holes in the fabric and weaving the faux leather before gluing it down would’ve made it look a lot better. seems like a pretty obvious step.

I think adding a bit of a post to the clay clasp piece would also make it more functional. Also, a different glue would probably be necessary to get it to stick to fabric long term. I thought the color of the fabric was beautiful though!

I know you're dedicated to increased content, but these diys feel rushed and sloppy. I don't need to recreate things as cheap as humanly possible if the end result looks like a middle school art project. I'd rather spend a few extra bucks and a few extra hours making something that looks GREAT.

I dunno, the dupes feels cheap and it didn't have to. the little details counts. the texture on the different parts of the notebook, the lack of 3D and irregular aspect on the planter. I know you guys are busy and trying to create more content, but it could've been done better with your skills. Also, that notebook looked beautiful before the makeover, I'd just get one.

I love your channel but these diys didn't really work for me... I was excited about the notebook bcs it's gorgeous but that execution was just sloppy. The fabric was fraying around the edges because you didn't fold it underneath, same with the thread. Also I don't know if I'd spend 12 dollars and 4 hours for a single use notebook rather than just... 40 dollars. If you wanted to go a step further you could have turned the diy into a detachable notebook cover so you could use it all over again.

The planter you could have used the bucket as a base and added polymer clay all over to sculpt it exactly the way you needed, and then baked it and painted it. The suede notebook, instead of gluing it onto the notebook right away, you could have sewn it into a cover, added the leather straps before sticking it to the book, and look for a tassel earring that would suit it.

I feel like you were almost there with the notebook, felt a bit rushed though. I think if the strap was thinner and woven into the material before gluing to the notebook and if you continued the material over into the inside of the cover to give it a more finished look. And where were the gold dots the original has on the inside? Other dupes were good though :) I like this type of series.

Omg that ice bucket thing was so beautiful, I meant, it would be an amazing project for something else, wouldn't u say?
@paratethys
@paratethys 6 жыл бұрын
A couple bookbinding tricks for the journal: * Fold the edges of the fabric over the cardboard rather than cutting them off and leaving the raw edge visible * The original almost certainly wove the ribbon through the suede before affixing the suede to the book cover On the bucket, you would have an easier time sawing through it if you used a clamp to affix the bottom edge of the bucket to the tabletop. Also consider waxing the blade of the saw to make it glide better. Wear gardening gloves when working with splintery stuff! I think you could've gotten closer to the original on the planter by actually sculpting the eccentric bowl shape out of wood-colored clay, then painting the ourside white and knocking off the extra paint on the high points with sandpaper.

The notebook was a bit messier than your usual DIYs, but I love that you still try even if your not sure a project will come out 100% flawless and that you show that it's okay if the outcome isn't always what you'd have expected! I think that DIYing is about so much more than the result - it's about the fun in creating something by yourself, daring to questing why you should buy something that's expensive and probably effects the climate more, and daring to challenge yourself in what you're capable of! Besides, you can still get inspiration from the notebook-DIY! I love this series and all your amazing creations!

If you buy all the tools/equipment and other products that you already have, I bet the prices wouldn’t be that different. I understand that you were making the book vegan, which is cool and I support, but comparing the prices when the material is so drastically different seems a little weird to me. The other ones were at least made out of comprable materials (maybe minus the cake stand plate, it might have been metal on the original, I’m not sure). And you didn’t add the adorable gold dot detailing inside the book. I enjoy these videos, but I do think the pricing you guys do is deceitful. If someone had 3 dollars they wouldn’t be able to make that cake stand because of all the stuff you already had. Brushes, paint, spray paint etc. Edit: It’s like the prices only apply to you or other people with a big office full of DIY supplies.

If you go out to buy tools and supplies for only one project then no, the comparison isn't worth it. But since you can reuse those things for more than one DIY it shouldn't necessarily be considered into the cost to make. It may seem like a lot all at once, but you aren't paying that amount every single time.

most people who diy stuff already have at least a a few tools and materials. i dont diy or craft like crazy but i have the basics like glue guns and glue, ribbons, paper, sewing kit, bunch of random beads and other decorative things... the only thing you may not have would be the right fabrics or paints which aren't all that expensive. i mean a bottle of paint at walmart is 50 cents...

Obviously your not into diy. Because if you were you surely would have some fabric, spray paint, glue gun etc. The girls are making these videos for other people who like to do diy .

I think if maybe a little more thought went into the process of the DIYs they would have been more successful, instead of just hot-gluing things together and slapping some paint on. You two are super entertaining and enjoyable to watch, but the level of DIY skill just isn't high enough lately

I think you guys did really well. My fav was the last one - the flower pot. I didn't expect it to turn out anything similar because of the carving, but the sandpaper did the trick. For the journal, The cover materials was spot on but I wish you used a thinner (perhaps elastic) string to tie it and thread through the back. I think it would have made the final product a little bit more neat. Also for the journal, perhaps you could have purchased a giant rose gold button from a craft store? You inspire me to make something too :)

You girls are endlessly talented! You must tell me, where did you get the spray paint tent? Brilliant! I'm so over using large boxes inside or having to wait for a sunny day with no wind and bugs flying onto my wet painted item!

I’ve watched y’all for years & always love what you do! For these challenges, I liked most of it. But honestly I think if you used thinner strip faux leather on the notebook it would’ve been like exactly 💕 And Yes Kelsie, the wicker basket uuugggg but I was really impressed with wooden planter! Great job and the pillow!!!! I might need to try that! I have extra pillows & white cases I need to do something with :)

So pretty! I want to try these soon :) for the notebook/journal, i think it would’ve been neater if you weaved the strap first onto the cloth before sticking it? 🤔
