I think that the fail one you could do it in a bigger base and leave more space between the candles so they won't melt as fast as they did in the video

Patricia E. Buri or they could have placed one large pilar candle in the centre and surround it with the taper candles of varying heights 👐

Definitely need more space in between so the others will not catch fire. What if you tried a rectangle deep dish plate or something and made a line of candles with varying heights?

It would be a different look through. But what if you wrapped the candles in some tin metal, like a painted soda cans, so they won't lose their shape and melt together?

Would love to see a round two on the fail diy. Really liked how the flame looked like in the middle with the taller candles on the outside. Could you create something around a smaller pillar candle on the inside?

Love the ideas. For my candles when I want to use every bit of them I finish melting them on a candle warmer. It will liquify that last little bit and you can pour it into a new candle with a wick.
@steffikrose
@steffikrose 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, definitely try it with less wicks/more space between wicks (kind of like the 3 wick candles), otherwise there is too much heat and they burn down rapidly. I did the same thing about a year ago on a plate, lighting all the little stumps of the left-over Christmas candles. It looked cute for a moment and then panic started to spread. I love seeing the fails btw and this whole trial and error /learning from mistakes thing 😊 love from Austria

My trick for getting the wax out of the bottom is actually to throw them in the freezer instead! Then when you pull the candle out of the freezer, you can run a butter knife around the edges and pop the whole chunk of wax right out of the jar! Beyond being able to reuse all of the wax, I have been able to beautifully store bathroom items like cotton swabs, cotton balls, nail polish, bobby pins and hair ties! A thrifting triple threat if you will haha I get tons of compliments on them and more often than not, people don't even know they used to be old candle jars! They also make great drawer organizers for makeup brushes and whatnot (if your drawer is deep enough that is and you don't put the lid back on...I've been known to use the flat lids as coasters when I don't have enough or can't find one haha). Love your DIYs ladies, keep killing it! 😊

For the cluster candle, perhaps using a higher quality candle may help along with some of the other comments' suggestions. Cheaper candles usually have a lower melting temperature and therefore the wax will melt more rapidly.

I still really like thrift flips (by which I don't mean clothes ones) as I feel it encourages upcycling. DIYs I would love to see, as an avid reader, would be related DIYs. Whether that be bookmarks, book protectors, or things which are more like accessories for people who like books (such as framed artwork, those box books made from old books and so on). Currently I make a lot of bookmarks from ribbon and beads (taken from necklaces at thrift stores), framed artwork with old books, and I made a quote necklace out of metal on hinges, but curious what you two could come up with.

the bowl one would look nice with all fake candles too! I normally hate fake candles because, well... they look fake. But by covering the bottoms (where the switches normally are, making them look weird) it could look more realistic? Or definitely try some of the large pillar candles. Maybe for wickless candles you could take those test tubes, fill them with wax, then add them? That way you get the elongated, thin shape of the ones you originally used, but with no wicks to worry about.
