@@veedubgeezer I know. In terms of cheap car curb appeal, it's the best way pound-for-pound to make a car look instantly more expensive and well looked after. The VW Up! actually has a long life timing belt on it because of its slightly off rounded cam gears, meaning it only tensions the belt when required for valve action. The belt is meant to last the life of the vehicle (being an Up, that was probably meant to only be 5 years). VW themselves have no scheduled maintenance reporting on it, just inspection for wear.
@SuperVitz

Not quiet true. VW requires visual inspection for the timing belt and replacement if deemed needed. First visual inspection is at 240.000km/150.000miles and then every 30.000km at every service although I'd simply change it at 240

@@SuperVitz what Ferdinand was referring to is manufacturers definition of 'life of the vehicle'. As someone who owns a dealership I can say that a small hatchback (Polo & Fiesta size) with 4/5 doors in a “normal” color such as white, grey and black is easier to sell than a red/blue car. Also as low mileage as possible with full servicebook helps the price go up. Maximum of 10 years old (not quite sure how it is in the UK with financing a car) so it’s easier for people to get it financed. When writing the advert dont go telling a long story. Just write the specs and equipment of the car.

@@duanJ_aka_wfoundry if you really cared about the car, then you’d find new old stock hubcaps, or have the old ones repaired. Having the originals is a way of showing that the car has really been cared for. As for the up! You can still get hubcaps brand new from Volkswagen, so it was just lazy to get them from eurocarparts. People just want to buy them. The company I bought Up! from had several of these little shitboxes, one a bit older with 260k km and still going. Nice city car and definitely not so bad on highway, for two persons or 2 plus 2 small kids. The only car that is way more expensive is Fiat 500. I'd have looked for some cheap used VW alloys instead of plastic wheel plates, plenty of people swapping VW wheels for 3rd party stuff

@@fudge1monkey weren't they just! sure alloys would have cost more but after a very quick ebay search, £180 gets you a nice set which would *easily* bump the sale price up a lot more!

Guys could you make a video giving us tips on what to look at before closing a deal when buying cars from private sellers? What to avoid, important things to check, how to check the car price market to know if we can have some profit if we try to flip it and etc

Those ghastly wheel trims were on my clio when I bought it. Now they aren’t. And the steelies are white instead.

I know I lived over there a while back my mum's 307hdi was like 900euro a year or something crazy like that. More reason to keep classics alive 50euro is more like it. Or remove rear seats and tell em it commercial 🤫😂

All this taught me is that Alex and Rory are really clueless when it comes to buying a car to sell. Ethan was the only one to find something which had a chance, that being the 924. The Fiesta that Rory found was extremely overpriced for an 09 plate with average mileage, probably double it's market value, getting on for triple. I see those shape Fiestas being weighed in at EMR more often than you'd think to be honest, and breakers yards are full of them.
