As a former apprentice A&P - who moved to the rear of a small craft, and luckily had a guy walking by who grabbed the tail as it headed for the ground - you MIGHT want to consider tossing sand bags (or something heavy) where the engines were! You get a bunch of people in there cleaning up.... she might get tail heavy! :O

I’m sure I’m too late for you to see this but I recently “fixed” a 150 that had been down 14 years. If I had it to do over I’d totally torn it down and restored it. The “fixing” part lasted forever and cost me at least as much as a restoration. My first time. Curious if that crosses your mind. The 310 reminds me of this. Anyway, Godspeed

Loving this build, coming along really great! I'm a structures guy, but I would be a little hesitant with that doubler repair. Should have filed a 1/64" - 1/32" gap to prevent chafing. Looks like 1 rivet is going directly into the cracked section. Should have rivets edge distanced and all corners radiused. If you had something to radius the lower doubler to the same lip contour that would add significant strength. I know this isn't an F-16 or anything, but definitely check back on that repair later and see how it's holding up, especially so close to that pulley!

Instead of putting the engines back on couldn’t you have put ballast in the front cargo area (assuming there is one) or front of the interior? Also to make your life easier get some moving dolly’s. So next time you need to move the engines ( like you will need to for the Aztec) you put the dolly’s down, put your engine stands on top of them and will be able to roll the around easily. Harbor Freight carry’s them.

A lifetime ago, in A&P school, we were jacking a 310B up to do a gear swing. The tip of the jack stand has a conical indentation, the bottom of the wing near the fuselage has a conical tit designed to nestle into that jack stand tip. My fault, I neglected to insure that tit was seated completely in the indentation. When it finally fell into the correct position, the bang that ensued scared the crap out of me. No damage, except to my pride. Honest to god, I think that 310 was the third or fourth one off the assembly line. This was, as I said, a lifetime ago.

I’m curious, will this crack necessitate a periodic inspection, such as during an annual? And if so, could an inspection plate be added? The way you described it, there seemed to be a need to remove the rudder to see it. That would suck! Maybe having a new plate fabbed and installed would be.the better option. Jimmy, I really love your videos. I used to fly out of Hobby when I was a kid with a fresh Private and the video where you got stuck chasing the storm across the country sounded very familiar for the region.
